Try vegan or plant based protein. They have it at Costco. The one I use is called Orgain. Some people tolerate plants better than dairy.
-
Have you tried GARDEIN meatless beef chicken & fish? I love that stuff & the plant based protein is as good or better than meat. It's also vegan! They have it at Target for $3.99 a package here & they have anywhere from 2 to 5 servings.

Protein Goal too low?
Seahawks Fan replied to dberthelot02's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is minimum protein guidelines. No harm in 30 grams per meal as long as the carbs are low. I know liquid calories are frowned upon but there are low calorie sources of tasteless protein that even mix with water. -
I'm not off the rails but concerned about small weight gain.
Seahawks Fan replied to imadethelist's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Are you eating hearty foods with little to no sauce or broth? Are you drinking water with your meals? You're not supposed to drink before or after your meals. Are you taking 20 minutes to eat each meal? Are you following the 2-3-2 rule? Are you drinking liquid calories or snacking between meals? -

My surgery is scheduled for May 30. Won't be long now.

Thanks so much I had the seminar in January & did everything as quickly as possible. I must say though much of this depends on your insurance. Where are you located & what insurance do you have? Make sure your aware of everything they require. Best of luck to you!

Some crunch needed for tuna
Seahawks Fan replied to lexicolleenvsg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Not sure if this is considered soft but I like celery & onions yellow or red chopped. You can also toast your bread. Toasted tuna is good. -
SURPRISE SURPRISE!! I was waiting for a surgery date and today I get a phone call saying I have to do 12 physical therapy visits. I specifically asked if there was anything else I would have to do months ago and the answer was no after finishing everything I was told I had to finish they come up with this. My insurance is Molina and I'm on Medicaid. This makes me want to puke! Are there any other surprises I should be prepared for?

SURPRISE SURPRISE!! I completed everything or so I was told. Today I received a phone call saying I needed to complete 12 physical therapy visits. I'm pissed! Do these have to be done within a certain time? Here I thought I was ready for scheduling after asking if there was anything else I needed to do long ago & was told no. My insurance is Molina. Anything else I should know? SURPRISE SURPRISE!!! -

Insurance Requirements/hang ups
Seahawks Fan posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on Medicare/Medicade & I have one more appointment with the Bariatric nurse before submitting to insurance to make an appointment for surgery. Anyone have any unexpected issues with insurance at this point. I hope to have a surgery date by mid April. -
Not trying to be rude but drinking milk & protein is drinking liquid calories. Eat your protein if you can & try to cut out milk. There are lots of food sources of protein, vitamins, & nutrients.
-
I've heard no complaints from people who eat a vegan diet even if only before and after surgery people can tolerate these foods better than meats & dairy.

Has anyone kept it a secret?
Seahawks Fan replied to VSG4Mag's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Good for you! I have no interest in going public with this either & that is my choice. I have 18 & 19 year old daughters, an 8 year old son, a daughter who turns 2 tomorrow, & another on the way. That right there is reason enough to have this surgery. I'm also converting to a plant based diet. There's no guarantees in life but if all goes well I'll enjoy a longer healthier life with my wife and children. It definitely beats the alternative! -

Yeah I'm in eastern Washington as well. Never even heard of Eviva. Nice to know there's neighbors around though. -
Plant Based Diet After Bariatric Surgery
Seahawks Fan replied to BrittneyMarie's topic in Food and Nutrition
Brittney thanks so much for all the info. I fully intend to switch to a plant based diet & my wife is on board as well. My only fear is I have no ideawhere to begin or how to incorporate meals into our lives. I'm hoping to have my surgery in April or May. This may seem like it would be simple but from someone who's never done such a thing I feel so lost. Any suggestions you might have or words of encouragement would be much appreciated.
