I'm ten days out today. I wouldn't recommend it. Tired, weak. Your skin will change, wait. -

I didn't think cottage cheese was considered a full liquid. Did you purée it? That actually sounds good. I'm sick of full liquids, but my 2 week recheck isn't until Monday. That's when I'll get the go ahead for soft mushy food. too bad it's not tomorrow. I have to spend the weekend in a hotel with only liquid to eat. -
Thank you for the great tips and advice. I'm 4 days post op now. I also had the revision (2 surgeries). While I expected the gas to be bad, luckily it never really was. Maybe that was due to my pre op loss of almost 20#. I will keep your advise going forward and hopefully I will have the same amount of success you have.

That's wonderful! We all need a little time to work on ourselves. Too bad it takes major surgery before we give in to it. Enjoy your evening and your day tomorrow. -
Surgery tomorrow - didn't see it until now

Annie, Congratulations on you progress (I can see the difference in your pics) and your successful surgery. I had mine on the 22nd. I ended up staying 2 nights in the hospital and boy did that extra night make a difference. I was actually thankful that I was quite a distance from home, so after surgery my hubby went home and didn't see him again until pickup time. I was able to concentrate on following what my body needed. Mostly slept and drank my water. I didn't have a catheter so most of my exercise was heading to the bathroom. I'm home now today and took the dog for a walk around the block. That tired me out pretty well. I did have one of my grown sons with me just in case I found it too difficult ( or if the dog went #2 [emoji23]) You were so forward thinking in taking such good photos to document your progress. Good for you! Keep it up and feel free to keep in touch! -

Lap band to bypass conversion
Irish_Eyes replied to loridee11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Surgeon wouldn't do a one surgery revision. I had to have my band removed last fall, then go through insurance to get the second procedure approved. Luckily it went through right away. My RNY is May 22. -
Pre-Surgery Thougths
Irish_Eyes replied to Mariassleevejourney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded in 2008 as well. I initially lost about 70lbs but then had issues and never got the right restriction. Gained it all back. Had the band removed last October. Luckily was approved for a new procedure, Having RNY on May 22. I'm so determined to make it work this time. Even the PreOp diet has been a positive experience for me. I'm ready for a permanent change in my life. -
What was the first food you ate when allowed soft foods?
Irish_Eyes replied to FatPharm's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm still PreOp but I can understand your dislike for the curds in most brands. If you have Knudsens brand the small curd is so small I never noticed the curds. I always liked the yellow package (probably 4%). Moved to Minnesota 20 years ago, they don't carry it. I finally broke down last month and tried the Daisy 4% the curds aren't as small, but it is good tasting cottage cheese. I like it with salt and pepper. -
After 7 days on the Pre-op diet I have lost 10.4 lbs. My husband who supports my decision is doing all the cooking for the family. I just concentrate on me when it comes to the food. I am drinking 1 bariatric advantage shake at breakfast, and one at lunch. Then I have 3oz of lean protein (deli turkey, eggs, chicken breast, salmon), plus veggies, or salad with a miniscule amount of dressing. Some days I even add a baby bell. I am completely satisfied with my meals at this point. Drinking lots of water!! First 3 days had headaches, but those are over now. I even cooked mothers day and my husbands dinner for family last night and it didn't bother me that I couldn't eat the potatoes/ rolls or home canned green beans (salt). For dessert I bought 7 cupcakes, none for me. I didn't want any cake sitting around, but really I haven't been tempted to try anything other than what I am doing. One week to surgery!

I'm on my 3rd day of protein shakes. Day 1,2 had headaches. Luckily I'm allowed a meal once a day. Hoping the days get better. I'm already down 3 1/2 lbs in the 2 days. Good luck with your surgery!

My RNY is also scheduled for May 22. Protein shakes have been ordered!

Good for you! I just had my pre-op appointment last week, but not having surgery until May 22. It was the only date before surgery they were having the NUT and bypass classes when my DH and I could make it. So far my Surgical team is saying 2 weeks recovery. I would feel much better if I had more time to adjust to everything. My direct boss and executive both know the reason I'm having surgery. I plan to tell everyone else I'm watching what I eat and getting more exercise. That's pretty much what's going to be happening 😉

That must be disappointing. Hopefully the time will go quickly for you.

How inspiring! I had my LB removed in October. Insurance recently approved a revision to RNY. My surgery is set for May 22. Any advice?
-
My Surgery date is May 22. I previously had a lap band which was removed in October after I developed complications. I had initially lost ~60 lbs. with the band but regained it due to the band issues. The insurance specialist initially told me right after removal she didn't think the new surgery would be approved. But we scheduled a follow up for February to at least try. The surgeon submitted with all the backup needed and I was approved right away. Surprised and happy to be getting a 2nd chance. The insurance I have now technically doesn't cover batiatric surgery, but I'm guessing since I had the LB they are considering this medically necessary especially with my other diagnosis'. I have mostly maintained since October. +\-5 I had a cruise booked for April so decided to push the surgery until May. Wishing now I'd just done the RNY the first time.
