Ebeth, I am being banded on June 10th by Dr. Haughnn too!!! I started the optifast today...Let's keep in touch. I have my last preop appt. on June 6th.

You will do just fine. I also have to do the two weeks before and the two weeks after but I am only going to take one day at a time. I am not very worried about the two weeks after surgery...yet...atleast I hope for the first few days I won't really feel hungry so I hope that helps me...

I have to do the preop diet for two weeks. Bless your heart for having to do it for six weeks. But it will all be worth it.

Wishing you the best for your surgery. Today is day 1 of my liquid diet. I have to drink the Optifast shakes...and well...let's hope they start to taste better the hungrier I get. But I have vowed to myself that this is not a choice. I must follow the preop diet no matter what!

Jules, We are being banded the same day. :thumbup:I also start my preop diet on Monday also. I can have any combination of the Optifast Soups, bars, or shakes totallying 7 a day. What does your preop diet consist of?

Hi all. I am from Kentucky. I am a teacher. I have been teaching Elementary school for 10 years. I have three beautiful children; a 15 year old son and boy/girl twins that are six. I have seen my mom's health go down hill for years due to her morbid obesity and I have always had trouble with my weight. My mom is 60 and has been on disability for about 12 years due to her obesity. I just don't want that to be me.

I know this may seem a little silly but I guess I am concerned about the amount of pain or discomfort to expect. I was wondering if someone could compare the pain to the pain of having a C section? I have had 2 C sections so I know what that feels like. Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide. :confused2:

Glad you are feeling good and glad to hear about your surgery. It is always good to hear that things went well. I will be banded in about three weeks and I hope my surgery goes as well as yours!

I finally got my surgery date also! :biggrin: I am also a teacher. I teach 4th grade and love it. I am so excited to finally have an official date!

I did 6 visits in 6 months. They weren't that exact to make me wait till the full month passed.

I feel your pain. I am a teacher too. It is hard to resist all those goodies, but keep your eye on the prize!

Congrats on your "band-date". I was approved last week but I haven't received a date yet. I am looking forward to having this tool. I think my date will be around mid June. Where will you be having your surgery?

:biggrin:I am getting so excited. On April 16th I will have completed my 6 months of required doctor supervised visits. I have completed all my dietician visits and my psych evaluation. I don't know if I passed it or not but I guess I will find out the results on the 16th. I also had to lose 13 pounds and as of last months visit I had lost 15 but I just went on vacation and I have to figure out a way to lose about 5 pounds before the 16th. While on vacation I tried a lot of different foods and didn't exercise like I should have been. Any advice on how to do that in about 9 days, let me know :thumbup: According to my doctor on the 16th they will submit all the paperwork to my insurance company (Humana) and once it is approved, then we will schedule the appt with the surgeon. I just can't believe how 6 months has just flown by! :regular_smile:

I have just completed my six month requirement last week. It went by faster than i thought it would. Now I am just waiting for insurance approval. Hoping that doesn't take too long. Good luck in your lapband journey :tongue_smilie:
