For those who have completed surgery...How is your scarring from surgery ? I know there are several small incisions for laparoscopic tools and the larger one where the stomach portion is removed. How does it look 6 months later? A year later?

Sleep study failure
starfishwish replied to txsrooster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a hard time sleeping too. I didn't toss and turn, but I woke up constantly. My study did show moderate obstructive sleep apnea, and I've been using the CPAP since January -
How do you practice not drinking with food
starfishwish replied to Sosewsue61's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's funny, I was just mentioning this to my husband. After all the years of Weight Watchers, where they tell you to fill up with water before and during your meal so you feel fuller sooner- I will now learn a whole new way. It will definitely take getting used to. I agree with not having water nearby during meals though[emoji1303] -
As I was reading this, I could've written it myself yesterday. I had just had this exact conversation with my husband. I've decided I need a new hobby. Something more active. Riding my bicycle, running again... I thought about volunteering at my local animal shelter walking the dogs. I know it won't be easy. It's going to be a big adjustment, but we can do it. [emoji4]

As each day passes and my surgery grows closer, I think of how my life will change. I wonder what will it be like to eat to live instead of living to eat. What will I do instead of eating? What do I look forward to if I am not eating? I have built my life around eating. Vacation meals will no longer be a focus point.

Question about protein (powder, liquid, etc..)
starfishwish posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good morning everyone, I have a question about protein powders and liquids. I've been doing some reading and research but this is not something I've used before. Since most of them are whey based and/or contain milk derivatives and products, what is the shelf life? For example, post-op, I will only be drinking two ounces at a time, to start. If I'm using a premixed liquid protein drink, how long will it last in the refrigerator once I open it? I think the containers are about 16 oz. that could last days. Also, adding protein powder to things like Jell-O and pudding that I would pre make in 2 ounce containers. How long will that protein be good in the refrigerator prepared like that? I hope I'm making sense[emoji23] I honestly would have never of thought to ask this question, but I bought the isopure zero bottles, to try, and I drank half of one bottle closed it and put it in the refrigerator and when I went to drink it the next day it smelled rancid. I don't know if I just got a bad bottle, or if it wasn't supposed to be refrigerated again after I opened it and drank half. Any opinions or experience on this would be appreciated![emoji4] -

I will sign all of my releases and They will submit to insurance, they said I'm looking at a date mid May or end of May, and my insurance company generally approves in 7 to 10 days. I'm doing a little happy dance right now [emoji1319][emoji1319][emoji445][emoji445][emoji445][emoji1303][emoji1303][emoji1303]

starfishwish replied to FollowingMyPath's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was curious about other people's liquid protocol as well. My surgeon has told me that I will do a 1 week liquid diet, but no details as of yet. I'm looking at a late may surgery date. -
