  1. Have you though about adding protein powder? There are some flavorless powders you can add to drinks
  2. I was also fully paid and took 3 weeks off. I probably could have gone back in 2 weeks and would have been fine. You are generally tired for awhile after, take what you feel you can and need

    Dehydrated

In the beginning I carried a water bottle around with me and constantly sipped good luck

    Sleeved 4/11 5 days out

My immersion blender was my best friend in that stage.... I basically used it to make sure my soups had no pieces in them. I used it especially on split pea soup so I got the benefit of all the ingredients.

    2 month PO diet?

Congrats on the wedding. I am a little over 4 weeks out and I can only eat 4 oz and I am full.. but I am still on soft foods. Although there is always good food at a wedding, focus on the good times and dancing and you won't miss the food and alcohol. Have fun

    Heart burn

I am lucky to not have had any heartburn or reflux... I took Prilosec for 30 days then nothing but was told to let the surgeon know if my stomach started to bother me. This is day 4 off the Prilosec and everything is good so far. I am still on soft foods cottage cheese and scrambled eggs, I have not tried refried beans, To me it seems that they would be "heavy" in my stomach but I realize that many eat them in this stage. Good luck
  7. The best way to get up is to roll over to your side and push yourself up that way. To try and get up from being flat on your back uses your abdominal muscles more and hurts. Having someone to help you is even better!
  8. That WTF feeling only lasts a couple of days... then you will be feeling that it is the best thing you have done for yourself.
  9. I had my sleeve, a hernia repair and my gall bladder out at the same time.... no issues at all. My recover was the same as a sleeve alone. I went back to work after 3 weeks and am doing just fine. I took no narcotic pain meds and was up and out of bed quickly. Do realize that everyone is different but repairing a hernia is not uncommon during surgery.

    Leak test

My was done in the operating room before the surgery was completed. A gastroenterologist does it right at the end of the procedure.
  11. I am just one month post-op and today for the first time I ate too fast and maybe a little too much... I am so uncomfortable, really uncomfortable. Has this happened to anyone else? I was having a conversation while eating and I guess I wasn't paying attention. I guess I just have to ride it out... but it is a good lesson to be more mindful.
  12. I wouldn't think they had done any "damage"

    Ate too fast

I have not ever vomited since my sleeve and I hope I won't now either.... Just going to relax until I feel better. Oh my, a lesson learned
  14. I had my 1 month post-op visit today and have been doing well. However, I told my surgeon it is my birthday next week and I am going to have some ice cream. She said she would prefer I had something else to celebrate but as long as I have just a tiny bit and then no more it would be ok.

    Driving after surgery

I was about 4 days. I only took a narcotic once and that was right after the surgery in the recovery room because they wanted to get me up to the bathroom. So I was fine to drive....

    Forgetful on Vitamins

I have the pill container, too. It is right on the counter in the kitchen where I can't miss it. I take them all at once in the morning and they don't bother me at all but I realize that is not the same for everyone
  17. I gained almost 10 pounds... it eventually came off but it was upsetting to me. No one told me that would happen. The surgeon said some people are still heavier at the 1 week post-op visit....Don't despair!

    Day of surgery nausea

I guess I was lucky, I had none. However, our program automatically gives Zofran alternating with Reglan through the IV every 4 hours. I didn't have to ask for it. Then after discharge even though I went home with Zofran, I didn't need it

    Help please [emoji20]

We are all different. I had my sleeve done 10 days ago. I also had a hiatal hernia repair and my gall bladder removed at the same time. I spent 2 nights in the hospital. Our program gives 3 spaced doses of IV Tylenol post-op and there is an order for dilaudid (narcotic) if you need it. I asked for the dilaudid once and that was right after the surgery in the recovery room since they got me up to go to the bathroom. I have not used any narcotic pain medication since even though I was given a prescription for home. I only took adult liquid Tylenol for a couple of days. Don't get me wrong, it hurt but it was more like a muscle soreness... not bad considering I have 8 incisions rather than 5. Everyone is different, I realize my story might not be typical. Take the pain medication you need and get up and move it gets a little better every day. The second day home I did as much as my normal routine as possible, laundry, etc. I also didn't have the gas pains. Keep in mind narcotic pain medication can be constipating if you are inclined to be constipated. So 10 days out, I only have soreness when doing things like sitting up from a lying position, anything that causes you to use your stomach muscles. Don't despair it gets better
