Anyone else having trouble with the vitamin supplements?
rainyann replied to calicoblonde's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try to find a way to get the vitamins in... I am about 11 weeks out and just had my levels checked and all my vitamin levels are good. The only low level I have in all my post op blood work is iron and I am not going to take iron supplements since they are so constipating. Anyhow, I am lucky, I take my vitamins the first thing in the morning on an empty stomach without an issue. I chew Centrum orange flavored chewables multivitamin, a chewable vitamin D, a sublingual B12 and a calcium wafer (citrus flavored). In the beginning I hated the calcium wafer but now I am used to the taste.. I have them all in one of those daily pill boxes right on my kitchen counter. I never took vitamins before the sleeve and now take them every day without fail. I think they are an acquired taste -
3 days out - pain from gallbladder removal
rainyann replied to youngs2twins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my gall bladder, my sleeve and hernia repair at the same time. No issues.... I was concerned right before the surgery because the surgeon said she would take the gall bladder out first and if there were any problems she would not do the sleeve. So I said no, please, I need to have the sleeve, so if you can only do one, please do the sleeve. Luckily she was able to do them all. I guess I am lucky, little pain after the first day and no issues. -
I was sleeved on March 13th and also had my gall bladder removed and a hernia repair at the same time. I have 7 incisions and although the numbness has gotten batter it is still there. You do get used to it but I agree it feels strange

On occasion I do take a sip while I am eating but not more than that. There are times you need to for one reason or another.

I was tested when I had my pre-op endoscopy. I think it is automatically done with an endoscopy (but I could be wrong) -

That is too bad... I never had GERD either and had a hiatal hernia at the same time as my sleeve and I still haven't had any GERD.... I am only about 10 weeks out, I hope it doesn't change. -
AND THE INNER PANIC SETS IN.... LOWER BMI PEOPLE??
rainyann replied to Pistol_Annie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I actually had a nurse practitioner in pre-surgical testing before my surgery ask me why I was having it because I had no comorbidities!!! She had to be blind because although I had no co-morbidities my BMI was about 45 at that time... I was flabbergasted -
you look fantastic!

I think many of us, myself included, wondered what we did to ourselves that first day or two.... It gets better every day... you will soon feel better! -

rainyann replied to Gee1's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was 65 when I had the surgery in March and am 66 now... no complications. I am doing just fine. I had no health comorbidities just a high BMI and I am happy to say, the BMI is going down steadily! -
3 weeks post op. Almost always have diarrhea
rainyann replied to e0marina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am using benefiber rather than a laxative and it has been better. I know this is too much information but I was constipated before the surgery and not much has changed. However, it is better with benefiber -

I wish... it never happened to me... I have the opposite -
Not sure because I don't take any medications anyhow.. If I need to then I will ask.... Liquid Tylenol works for me but I almost never need it
-
I was told I can't take anything larger than a tic tak. If I need Tylenol, which is rare, I have adult liquid. My vitamins are all chewable and luckily I don't take any medication.

Obsessed with weight loss
rainyann replied to crawford8903's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weigh every day and an on occasion it goes up .2 or so... It almost always goes down a bit. The days it stays the same or goes up slightly doesn't really bother me. Weighing myself daily works for me although I understand it might not for others. We all lose at different rats but this keeps me focused. We should all do what works for us.... if a slight increase bothers you don't weigh daily. -
Love the word "mom" on one of the yogurts!! I see that Amazon has 125 "condiment or jello shots" containers for $8.99. Great idea!

Conflicted about surgery

I think the day after surgery a lot of us said "what did I do to myself?", but it soon passes -
Psychological evaluation ! What to say ? What not to say ?
rainyann replied to kbellakat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All of the above and I think they want you to understand that it is surgery and although rare, something can go wrong. They need to know that you understand and can make an informed decision, are realistic and seem like you can follow through with the plan. If you can't there is no reason the surgeon should proceed -
Yup.... When I had my abdominal sonogram the radiologist told me to ask the surgeon to just "move over to the other side" and take out my gall bladder while she was in there. He said the gall stones were too big to ever pass. I really didn't have much issue with it. However, after the surgery the surgeon said it was a good thing she took it out because of the stones and I also had polyps in my GB. In addition she found a hiatal hernia and fixed that, too.... I had no complications from the surgery and feel great

I was told no straws and I don't miss them

Post op complications

No complications... sometimes I wonder if I even had it done but the small incisions let me know it happened LOL
