    My Hunger Has Returned!!

Do you take medication other than what the dr gave you after surgery? I noticed that with my meds I wake up with the nastiest empty stomach feeling which I confuse it as hunger. I hate the feeling so before I used to just eat something when I felt that. Now I just sip on water to help that. Not sure if this helps but good luck.

    My Hunger Has Returned!!

I use genepro and I love it. I add it to my glass of milk, water or yogurt. Not bad at all and it had 30 grams of protein per scoop with 98 calories. 33 bucks at gnc.
  3. Hey y'all, I was sleeved April 13th and so far I have lost 41 lbs. I did reach a stall last week but I noticed today I weighed 185 and that's 2 pounds I was able to lose in about 2 weeks. I did have to increase my calories to 1,000 but an average of 880. Since surgery I've noticed that I feel happier. I am able to sleep at night for longer periods. I have a Fitbit so it helps me keep track of my activity level. I do have chronic pain and not much change there yet but I'm praying once I reach my goal in about 45 lbs to go I will feel a difference and my pain will decrease. I also cook more now since I have to eat much different than before. I love that my clothes don't fit at all but I do love leggings until I reach that goal. I refuse to buy clothes till I get to 145. I notice my face glows a whole lot more now. I would like to share for those having issues with calorie intake. I did notice that lamb loin chops have more calories in 2 ounces than chicken does and they taste delicious with rosemary, garlic, thyme and butter. (Mouth watering) with a side of 2 ounces zucchini. Lol Anyhow, good luck to you all and wishing you the best with your journey. I'm so thankful and grateful I chose to get sleeved.

    Bowels

I'm still having the weirdest bowels ever. I'm at my 1 month post op appt and I'm going to ask about it. It's not that I'm constipated now but it looks like I took that alli pill and I'm passing all the fat I'm putting in my mouth. I did have a few soft pale, clay looking stools but now I'm having the oily bowels. Sorry for the details but I mean that's the only way to accurately share information with y'all. Lol And just FYI I don't have a gallbladder so I'm not sure if that plays a part to the kind of bowels I have at the moment.

    Calories at 1-2 weeks post-op

It will get better I promise. I had the same issue and I averaged about 320 to about 350 calories a day for the first week. Then about the second week where the pain and gas was getting better I literally sipped and sipped all dog on day. Lol so no naps for me during that time. Obviously we're healing and it does make a big difference from trying to eat when you're healing and full of gas. We're learning how to eat again. So it's normal. My the 2nd week when I was allowed to move up and stage. I started to eat more and had more calories. I'm a few days shy of 30 days post op and I'm barely getting in those 800 calories. They moved it up to 1000 since I hit a stall but I make sure I get my protein in and fluids in. But I promise you gets easier. Your nutritionist will be your best friend through this. Keep a good communication line with him/her. Make sure you keep an accurate log of food on an app. So you can go through with them and they can point out if there is an issue. Good luck and keep pushing.

    STALL?

Hey guys. I also reached a stall. I couldn't believe it cuz I've been doing so well. But I did contact the dietician and she told me to go up to 1000 calories a day and I did start losing again. Slowly but it's getting there. I'm staying under 25 carbs a day, under 15 grams of sugar, and meeting my protein of 65 grams a day. I usually go over my protein but that's not a problem. The only problem is getting the 1,000 calories in. So I was given the option of adding butter, cream cheese and other dressings to my protein to add some calories in my day. Good luck to you all and don't give up. We've done too much to let this stall get to us. By the way I do workout daily.

    April sleevers!?

Congrats!! I was sleeved on the 13th of April. I was just like you. There was some days I felt so weak from not being able to get enough calories in. But don't worry it will get better. I hated my vitamins as well but I am now finally able to stomach them. My dr told me at 2 week follow up that I wasn't suppose to start them until after my 2 week follow up. I see why now. Lol If you're tired of water try some zero vitamin water. My personal favorite is the orange flavor. I love it even more when it's cold. I'm able to drink cold stuff now. It doesn't bother me like it did 1 week ago. Good luck at your follow up tomorrow. We didn't do purée. My dr goes straight to soft foods at 2 week follow up. My issue right now is making sure I moisten my food with dressing or sour cream to help it go down easier. Happy for you!! Glad you're doing ok. It will get better. Much love!! Sugar Free Popsicles etc....

No I don't have diabetes it's just what my nutritionist recommends until I reach my goal. Once I do reach it I'll have to keep those carbs limited if I want to keep my weight from coming back. So yeah, ultimately I want to get used to that number. I'm sure there will be days where I go over that but as long as it's not every single day of the week. Lol Good luck. I'm finally at 190 today. I'm so happy. My husband bought my a Fitbit charge 2 I think that's the one. I'm looking forward to increasing my cardio this week. My brother gets married in June so I have to lose as much as I possibly can.

    Sugar Free Popsicles etc....

I loved those popsicles. I had them all the time during liquid diet. Unfortunately I realized now on post op that they have about 4 grams of carbs. lol so I can't have too many of them. I have to stay under 25 carbs a day. It broke my heart cuz I really love them. I guess I'll have to make my own with my zero calories vitamin water. Lol

    2 weeks post op

I was told daily at least one. I've had to increase my miralax cuz I'll go a few days without a bowel. Maybe if you take that it will help. Good luck
  11. I was sleeved on the 13th. I don't have any bloating but I did have a reaction to the glue. I was itching and had redness where they glue was at. I say was cuz my dr told me to peel it off. I was a little worried about it but I guess I had stitches as well. Hope it gets better for you. Maybe you have a lot of gas. I used gas x strips and it helped. Good luck
  12. Hey there's this great protein that's flavorless at gnc called gene pro. It has 30 grams of protein per scoop. You can add it to your milk, yogurt and even your water. That's one way to up your protein. As far as calories go, I'm about 2.5 weeks post op and I'm on soft foods and I'm having issues getting my calories in. My minimum is 800 but I average about 450 to about maybe 600. My dietician recommended I add some mayo or low carb dressing to help add calories. I use sour cream, cream cheese, blue cheese or even land of lakes butter. I usually add it to my eggs, chicken, tuna and fish. Hope this helps. Good luck.

    Where i go from here

I was sleeved on the 13th as well. I'm doing pretty good now. I had a few rough days with a couple regretful moments but now I'm so happy I did go through with it. I started soft foods on the 25th. That first egg last looked and smelled wonderful but once that first tiny bite and you swallow.... reality hits you and you realize how much slower you have to eat and how important it is to chew. I thought I was going to eat it all in no time but it took me almost an hour to finish it. I had to put sour cream. They recommend adding mayo or low carb dressings to help make it moist. It being too dry will make it hard to swallow and feel like it's stuck in your esophagus or throat. I couldn't even get a 6oz yogurt finished in 30 mins. It took me an hour. But slowly but surely you'll get it down in no time. I'm ok to eat a yogurt in 30 mins now. Soft food proteins are still taking me a while to finish but it feels so good when I look at that scale. It's all worth it. It's hard work but so worth it right. Congrats to you all and hope we all reach our goals in no time with hard work, dedication and discipline of course.

Am I eating too much protein?

I have a goal of 60 grams but I do have a recipe of shake in case I don't feel like eating much that day and it's a total of 120 grams of protein. But not sure what would be too much protein. Maybe more than 150 or so. Not too sure. Sorry. I'll have to text my dietician that question. I was given a minimum of 800 calories and no more than 1250. But that depends on what you're nutritionist recommends.

    HELP! Hating all protein shakes

I bought gene pro from gnc. 1 scoop has 30 grams of protein. You can add t to skim milk, water or soup. It's tasteless and can't even tell when you add it.

    Can't Stand Water

I tried vitamin water zero and I have to say it was better than the other zero calories sports drinks and water flavor enhancers. They all have a bitter after taste.

    Post-Op liquid Broth

Thanks for sharing. I've been looking for new stuff. I'm getting sick of the same stuff. I was sleeved on the 13th and I promise you I'm sick of this liquid diet. Lol

    My 600 lb life

I did the same for my pre op and now on post op to keep me motivated.

    April sleevers!?

Glad you're feeling great. I'm also in protein shakes and surgery was on the 13th. Gas is getting much better. Reflux reflux and heartburn are also so much better that I don't need any meds for it.

    April sleevers!?

I also had surgery on the 13th of April. It didn't take long. I was up and walking that evening. Slowly but surely. The following day I didn't need any extra pain medication. I did have to take carafate. An anti acid and make it easier to swallow. But thankfully yesterday or today I haven't taken anything else. I'm glad everything is working out on your end. I'm feeling good. It's hard to get one premiere protein shake in a day It's 3pm and I got one down plus 24 oz of water. I'm literally sipping on that or water all day. My mouth is like cotton mouth still. I hope everybody else is going well. Good luck to those that haven't had surgery. Don't give up. We are all different and some heal faster than others. Much love to you all!

    April sleevers!?

Amanda, The heartburn and pain were my biggest fears as well. Like I mentioned earlier, if you go in there expecting he worse pain then you've prepared yourself mentally. I mean nobody can literally say it was easy and I didn't have any pain. I mean we're all different. I had the sweetest staff. They really communicate with you if you're nice and just relay your issues clearly. Sometimes we don't understand what it is we're feeling if it's something we've never felt. Just try your best at explaining what it is you're feeling. The first day and night are the worse but the following day you feel a big difference. I still have some heartburn but they've been giving me some carafan I don't know how to spell it correctly. Well that's helped me a great deal with heartburn. My dr order a pain pump machine so control my own pain meds. Reason being is that I take chronic pain meds at home so he wanted to make sure I didn't get the minimum of pain relievers cuz it would be like I wasn't given anything for pain. Ahhhh how I love my dr. He's definitely heaven sent. Sorry for the long message. You got this. Don't worry yourself too much just be prepared. Wishing you the best. Keep us posted. When is your surgery?

    April sleevers!?

Hello everybody!! I did it. I came out of surgery yesterday around 4pm eastern time. It's 6:03Am and I must say that the heartburn part was the worse then the pain as well made it more challenging. But if you go in it expecting it, then it won't come a surprise. I don't like when people sugar coat the recovery. Just expect the pain to be bad and hope it isn't. If I can get through it so each and every one of you can do it as well. I walked twice. I can now go to restroom alone and I'm sitting up with no issues. Just controlling my the heartburn and pain in advance is how I feel less pain. I'm praying for each and every one of you. Stay focused and don't forget your "whys" you're doing this and don't underestimate your strength.

    Cheated on the preop diet

I had a friend that cheated on hers and she just took some stuff to clean her stomach out. Like myralax and citric acid or something. Just poop it out and get back up and keep going. Don't give up on yourself. Make sure you just be honest with the doc. Don't be hard on yourself. As long as you don't keep doing it. The purpose is to shrink your liver to have easier and safer access to your stomach. You got this. I'm sure you're not the only one. Don't be yourself up. I'm here at hospital waiting to be called to room. It's my big day. I'm excited and nervous but looking forward to a new me. Much love and blessings to you.

    Pre-op diet. Need a buddie

You got this don't give up!! I know it's hard but think of all the reasons you want to do this. Remind yourself daily that you're worth a healthier you. I also have been watching 600 lb life and it keeps me motivated. It helps me understand a lot of the issues that many of us have with food. We just have to change our relationship with food. Easier said than done but we're here to help. Don't give up!! Eat eat eat sugar free popsicles, drink your shakes, eat some jello as much as you want and just keep drinking broth. Don't make yourself feel like you're starving. It really helps with you have this popsicles handy. Good luck and please don't be so hard on yourself. You're not alone in this.

    Pre-op diet. Need a buddie

Yes those popsicles are my lifeline. I stay sucking on those suckers. Jello too but I found a parfait sugar free jello at Walmart and some local grocery stores. Just a little different from the jello. I'm not too into the pudding it tastes a little too nasty for me. I have tomorrow then Thursday is my surgery. I'm almost there. I was hungrier today than all other days. I'm nervous and excited.
