  1. I am 6 days post-op and I am struggling BIG TIME. My doc wants me getting 60g of Protein every day and a total of 64oz of liquid every day. I've slowly been better with Water, Gatorade, but still no where near the 64oz. My main concern though is protein. Any type of Protein Drink I can't keep down (i throw it up). I've tried different kinds of premade shakes, Isopure ready to drink, protein water. One sip of any of those and I feel SO sick. The only thing I've found that I keep down that contains protein is a small amount of skim milk or kefir. What can i do?!?!

    Anxiety meds

I'm on cymbalta now, I'm curious why you said it's a messed up drug and don't recommend it. What do I need to know?
  3. A couple days after surgery. I swallowed the pill (with as little water as I could manage). I had prescription meds I couldn't go a day without, so I had to learn swallowing pills immediately after waking up from surgery
  4. I'll be going on vacation with some old friends and it "coincidentally" is planned for when my doctor allows alcohol. So my question is, what should I drink that will be less likely to make me sick?! I WILL be having one drink or at least most of one. I've heard to stay away from margaritas/mixed drinks Bc of the sugar making people feel sick. I've heard wine gives heartburn. I've heard beer or any liquor mixed with soda just hurts. So what does that leave me to try?!
  5. So I'm 6 weeks post op. If you've read my posts before you know I was struggling really bad with not eating things I shouldn't such as bread/carbs/sugar. Well happy to say I got past that. But now I have a new problem, I simply don't seem to eat! I try and try but everything just makes me feel blah and I end up with days like today where all I've had is one cheese stick and some gummy vitamins. Clearly I know this isn't HEALTHY but how will this affect my weight loss goals?! I want to lose as quickly as possible (who doesn't) but I just can't seem to stomach any more food right now. And before someone says protein shakes, I can't keep them down. Since I woke up from surgery they make me vomit instantly.

    Satisfied with food post op?

It's difficult to cope with. My family ordered pizza tonight and my mind told me I wanted to eat 4 slices and feel so deliciously satisfied. But the truth is, I can't eat it. I tried a slice a few weeks ago, and it didn't taste satisfying and worse, made me vomit. So yes, you will still WANT to eat the things you did before. You will want a huge bowl of pasta and breadsticks. But you know in your mind that you're just not capable of having it. And somehow day by day, you get by. (6 weeks post-op here)
  7. Let my start by saying before surgery, I had absolutely no self control when it came to food. I lived for what my next meal would be. If I ate pizza, I ate half a large and a box of breadsticks and still had room for dessert and a soda. My diet consisted of probably 70% carbs. So I knew having surgery would be a mental challenge more than anything, but I also didn't intend to never eat a slice of pizza again. I wanted to learn to control my cravings and eat portion sizes that are acceptable. That all being said, I'm 3.5 weeks post op and I already feel I am failing myself. The carb cravings have NOT gone away, and I find that I am able to eat anything. I have eaten pizza crust, biscuit, chips, bread. All of it goes down just fine and what's worse, makes me feel satisfied in a way that a stick of cheese or tuna does not. I realize that if I continue this path I won't see the results I want, and having paid for this surgery out of pocket, I do not want it to be wasted. I need help please [emoji24]

    Sabotaging Myself

Thank you so much for your great suggestions!! And good job for not eating the rest of the food. You should be proud of yourself for that

    Sabotaging Myself

Thanks guys. I guess I need to look into a therapist. I live in a small town, so I'm not sure what my options will be but I'll google and see if I can find something. And for those asking, at 2 weeks my surgeon told me I could start eating real food. He said I was free to eat whatever I could tolerate and that I couldn't hurt myself so not to be nervous. I guess every surgeon is different.

    Sabotaging Myself

I paid out of pocket because the surgeon I wanted to see wasn't covered by my insurance. Oddly enough, I know 3 people who have been to that surgeon so I felt comfortable choosing him.

    Sabotaging Myself

I tend to agree with you. I'm just not sure how to find a therapist or even a support group in my area.

"please don't contribute to the stereotype and fail. Be stronger than your addiction" Thank you for being so candid. I won't lie and say it's what I wanted someone to tell me, but I also won't lie and pretend it didn't need to be said. It's just so much harder than simply "being strong". I'm not strong right now, clearly. But I will try. Thank you

    Non sugar dumping syndrome?

I'm wondering the same thing as you! I've been on soft foods for 2 days now and so far all that I've tried to eat was egg salad and cheese. Woke up this morning running to the bathroom with diarrhea! Same as you, most of my soft food idea include a small amount of mayo. I just cannot eat tuna plain and the egg salad tasted divine.

    Can't drink Protein, HELP!

Before surgery I was a huge fan of Premier, but ever since surgery one sip of them and it comes right back up!

    Can't drink Protein, HELP!

My only concern with the milk is there's a decent amount of sugar naturally in it. I also read somewhere that too much dairy hinders the healing of the stomach. But right now, it's looking like I don't have a choice. I have tried broth on 2 occasions, I did keep it down but it's not my cup of tea. I'm not a big soup person to begin with and I found the taste kinda gross to be honest!

Feel like I'm losing my ever-loving mind

I have no advice, just know i feel EXACTLY the same way. I want to lose weight, so I have no intention of binging on a whole large pizza. But the fact that I can't have it even if I wanted to is making me feel very trapped and like I made a mistake.
