Husband does not support my dream to have this surgery
jaminator replied to Bobbie2017's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
THats effed up, but sometimes you have to do whats right for you. -
I usually have quite a bit of water before sleep, and usually wake up and take at least one big drink during the night. hasnt been an issue.

Split an entree. You can eat 1/4 and your spouse the rest. Most restaurants server way too large a portion anyway. Plus your spouse will eat less. I’ve found i can eat just about anything I want with this method because I’m taking in way less fat and calories than before.

Day of surgery testing for nicotine
jaminator replied to Chickensoup's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They tested me a couple weeks out but not day of surgery. -
One year out here. You will notice you can increasingly eat more, but if you get the protein first and then whatever side, you should get the full signal and be able to stop. My first few months I was kind of terrified because I could eat so little. But now I’m a happy medium. Tonight i went to sushi and had 3 pieces of wife’s roll and 5 slices of sashimi and feel just right.

I didn’t attend any family dinners for about a month.

If they take out the hormone that makes you crave food....
jaminator replied to amyandgreg1234's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I never lost my appetite. But the amount i can eat is greatly reduced. I still crave certain things, but eating nothing but protein and veg for the past year has trained my brain to eat differently than i used to. On the weekends i will still maybe order something thats a treat, but i only eat 1/4 of what i did before at most. if i get fajitas for example, iw il order with no rice, no beans, no sour cream. Maybe 1 tortilla. Eat one with guac and if i want more, just eat some of the meat If i get chinese, i will get chicken and veg, no rice. eat half and have the rest next day i slice thin crust pizza instead of thick or deep crust i beef or chicken enchilada with some refrieds maybe 2 chicken tenders junior sized burger, maybe eat 3-4 fries from my wifes order if you go to a restaurant that serves huge portions just share one with your significant other but during the week im cooking at home and mostly protein and veg stir fried beef with riced cauliflower grilled chicken thighs marinated in teryaki with green beans or brussels sprouts Shrimp in wok with riced cauliflower small iron skillet hamburger steak with carrots shredded chicken taco on torilla with lettuce, salsa, cheese. these are just examples that work for me. -
Try a fitness group. Ive found the best results and most consistency by joining a bootcamp. Ive never loved workouts, but these keep you motivated. Ive been doing one for 6 months, and you keep each other motivated and the exercise changes a lot so you dont get bored. The one i go to is 79 a month.

This is some of the most valid, straight up honest advice you are likely to receive here. The VSG is great, but you have to own your part of the responsibility. Im a year out and restriction is lessened. On the weekends, im very likely to cheat and have alcohol or a food that is indulgent, but during the week i am eating small and mostly protein. Its worked for me, but i can see where it wouldnt be hard to fall off the wagon. Im currently in a 4 lb swing back and forth, but i can live with it, because Im the same weight i was when i graduated high school, 30 years ago.

those first few weeks when you go back to solids can be very difficult. -
Bariatric surgery and restaurants

Me and the wife split entrees most of the time. At most restaurants there is way too much food for one person anyway. Helps her consume fewer calories. -
You have to live your life. There are going to be ups and downs and mistakes. One mistake is to believe you will never eat tempting foods again in your life. It happens, and you just have to do better the next day. Personally, since i wouldve been able to eat 6 slices of pizza before, I dont feel too bad about eating 1/2 or 1 slice of thin crust every now and then. I eat that one and stop. If i want ice cream, i get frozen yogurt instead.

Just took my first real post op shower - it took so much out of me!

Finally got word from the doctor that I am about 5 weeks out. I am so tired of losing and gaining the same 30 pounds for years. Question, I am about 271 pounds, 5-10 and a 42+ inch waist. What kind of waist size can i realistically expect? I avoid wearing pants at all right now because they are so uncomfortable.
