Did anyone take their child to Mexico?
msdr1 posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My sitter flaked on me. So I have a friend flying in from Chicago to go with me to Dr Ilan, but I'm thinking I may have to bring my toddler too for her to watch him and look after me in Mexico. Anyone heard of anything like this? Sent from my LG-K373 using BariatricPal mobile app -
I received my approval for surgery and planned to go to Tijuana in August. Now I am so nervous about having it done and thinking maybe I can try to lose weight without the sleeve one more time. Though, I'm not sure how this time would be any different than every other time I've lost 40 lbs, given away my entire wardrobe, and then regained 50lbs. Anyone else get cold feet this early in the game? How did you deal?

Sorry about that, I went back and edited. This would be my first WLS.

HIV+ does anyone take Triumeq

Today's your day Anthony!!! Hope all is well for you! -
I'm so sorry for your loss. I am planning to go to Mexico this fall. I went through the process with one insurance company and then lost my coverage before I could get the surgery done. My new plan doesn't cover the surgery at all.

Single mom thinking of going to see Dr Illan
msdr1 posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'll try and keep this from turning into a novel. I think I just need some encouragement. Last year I was going through the process to be approved for the VSG with BCBS. I ended up being laid off and losing my coverage and my new coverage doesn't cover bariatric procedures at all. So... off to Tijuana I go!! First, I'm a single mom of a toddler with little support. I would be looking at going to Tijuana by myself and telling nearly no one I was going or what I was going for. Has anyone gone down and made it back home safely alone? How will the surgery effect me being able to parent? I know rough stuff is out of the question, but being able to get in and out of the car seat, bend over to change pullups, leaning over the tub for bath time, etc? Will I be able to complete my everyday tasks by the time I get home. Lastly, I know they split the payment for surgery, but how much is the deposit and how much is due when you come? I'm trying to plan and see if I can get this done before the fall. -
I know I will do everything in my power to use my upcoming surgery to it's fullest and get the maximum benefit from it. I also am not a judgmental person. But I am scared to death of going through all this process and needing a revision in 5 years. What would make someone need one, because I know everyone who has a revision isn't eating off the wall. How do you know if you'll need one? Is there a way to make sure I only have to go under the knife once?

You're right! I guess I'm WAY overhinking.

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
msdr1 replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
1. I can't run more than a few steps. 1. I am out of breath walking the very short distance from the parking lot to my office. 1. I find it harder and harder to find clothes- I learned how to sew to be able to get around that. 1. I don't like the way I look. 1. My co-morbidities seem to be multiplying every year. 1. I can't reach my toes. -
I can't wait to do this!! The downside is I hand make some of my own clothes and to go through the effort of fitting, constructing, and styling a garment to only not be able to wear it in a few months is disheartening to say the least.

I'm new and nervous too! I won't be having surgery until around August and nervous as all get out!

I'll only be telling a couple of people that I'm doing WLS. All I'm telling work is I'm taking a vacation to San Francisco for a week. To explain the weird meals and weight loss. I'm doing something different my Dr prescribed to assist me in a healthier lifestyle. Truth +vague= sweet spot.
