I believe it was after 2 or 3 weeks but my surgeon highly suggests not puréeing your food and rather learning how to chew it to a purée consistency before swallowing. I am grateful he did that way because I don't have any issues with puking or other common problems some people seem to have. 11 years later I still chew my food very very well out of habit and I am thankful for that. It's rare now, but I know almost immediately when I've taken too big of a bite. It causes very uncomfortable pressure for a while and I usually have to stop eating. Of course, your surgeon and nutritionist know you best so go with what they tell you to do. Don't be afraid to call and ask before your appointment too.
