Anyone with Humana?
ashleey921 replied to ashleey921's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I called and spoke to someone else who said they received everything yesterday and she gave me an authorization number and said it normally takes about 5-7 days. Idk y I always get different answers when I call them. But I am happy with this one. -
My surgeon's office is submitting everything today, about how long does it take to be approved?

Anyone with Humana?
ashleey921 replied to ashleey921's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just called Humana to see if they received it and the woman said No. I needed this submitted before they change the requirements for the surgery on 5/1 which is Monday. I dont want to seem like I'm bothering my surgeon's office but when I asked she said she was working on mine and submitting it Wednesday. -

Who are you telling (pre-op)?
ashleey921 replied to Arthur Dent's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
People hear weight loss surgery and automatically think "lazy" and "easy way out" but if they actually did some research they would see that is NOT the case. It's surgery so Im not even sure how any surgery would be considered "easy" lol. -

ashleey921 replied to Arthur Dent's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wonder why people are so against weight loss surgery. It's life saving just like any other surgery smh. I dont get it. -

ashleey921 replied to Arthur Dent's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My mom, 3 close friends, my cousin (she's the only one I know down here in GA since I just moved a year ago) and a coworker who has had the surgery herself. No one else because I feel it's no one else's business and I dont care to hear why I shouldnt be having the surgery.. -

Did anyone with Humana get the sleeve?

My surgeon suggested the sleeve and that's the procedure I wanted anyway. But when I called Humana today they said they don't cover the sleeve just gastric bypass and the band. [emoji17] -
Insurance Requirement Question
ashleey921 replied to ashleey921's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's a great idea. Thanks! -
Maybe someone on here can help me because everytime I call Humana for an answer I get a different one. So the requirements are changing for surgery effective May 1,2017, to me this means that I would need to complete each of these requirements within 6 months before my surgery. What do u all think? Clinical record* of participation in and compliance with a multidisciplinary surgical preparatory regimen (within 6 months prior to surgery) which includes the following: o Absence of weight gain during the course of the program; AND Behavior modification regarding dietary intake and physical activity (unless medically contraindicated); AND o Nutrition education/counseling with a dietician or nutritionist that addresses pre- and postoperative dietary intake expectations; AND • Preoperative psychological evaluation and clearance (within 12 months prior to procedure) to rule out psychiatric disorders (eg, chemical dependency, major depression or schizophrenia), inability to provide informed consent or inability to comply with pre- and postoperative regimens *Clinical record documentation must include a summary of historical (failed attempts) as well as details of present exercise program participation (eg, physical activity, workout plan), nutrition program (eg, calorie intake, meal plan, diet followed), BMI and/or weight. So, if I started this journey in January 2017 but dont want to have my surgery until maybe July-August would I submit everything now before May 1 before these changes take effect? I kno I should be asking my insurance company but nobody seems to know and I havent got the same answer twice after calling for clarification atleast 5 times. So now I want to know what you all think, do I sound like Im right or no?

I had my psychologist appointment today.
ashleey921 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So today was my appointment to meet with the psychologist as one of the requirements to be approved for surgery by my insurance company and at the end of the meeting the psychologist said I am definitely depressed and he wants me to have a few counseling sessions. Now I've already self diagnosed myself with depression and have been wanting to see a psychologist for some time now but the issues I have, have nothing to do with my weight, it's deeper than that. I do wonder what I said to make him come to that conclusion tho. But anywho, by him saying that I am depressed that won't hinder me getting approved for surgery will it? -
Humana is changing their surgery requirements 5/1/17
ashleey921 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I called Humana today and the woman gave me the link on the new requirements and changes they will be making for bariatric that will go into effect on 5/1/17. Guess I will have to wait 6 months now smh. http://apps.humana.com/tad/tad_new/Search.aspx?criteria=bariatric+surgery&searchtype=freetext&policyType=both -
Yea lol I'm a drama queen anyway and I kno every bit of pain I feel will definitely be worth it!
-
I know and at the same time I cant wait. But Im just petrified of the recovery period.
-
I probably wont schedule a date until the end of August early September. I am soooooo scared. I've never had any type of surgery before except having my wisdom teeth pulled.

Checking in tomorrow and starting to get really scared
ashleey921 replied to vsg2266's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All this pain talk is scary lol. My surgery won't be for months since I'm just starting the process. But that's my biggest fear in all of this. The recovery phase and the pain. -

ashleey921 replied to ashleey921's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok thanks I'll call back. But it does seem like everytime I've called I've gotten different information so idk wat to believe. I was even told my plan doesn't cover it at all but I kno that isn't true. I'm gonna call my surgeons office first. -

Humana national pos open access through my employer. I was told that today by someone from their customer service. She also told me that instead of the 4 months I was told it's 6 months of an physician assisted diet. [emoji17]
