    April surgeries

Mine is TOMORROW!!! Excited and scared and happy and a tiny bit nervous. (Especially because a giant hernia is being repaired at the same time.) But I have faith. And lots and lots of prayers going up.

I'm unsupportive, but I want to be....

It's. Not. About. You. This is about your fiancé and his health and what his doctors recommend so he can live his best life.

    Looking for your thoughts...

I'm still in the liquid pre-op phase. I've enjoyed Atkins and Premier Protein shakes. I use broth and add a little seasoning to it. Poultry seasoning in chicken broth makes it richer. Onion powder in beef broth makes it taste like French onion soup. Having something hot to sip feels like soup, and takes the edge off the liquid-only stigma. Good luck!
  4. My knees. Arthritis runs in my family but my knees gave out a few months back. Last summer I walked all over Costa Rica. By Christmas I was in agony and in January I was told I qualified for a knee replacement. It hurts to take my nephew to the park, to walk up the stairs to my office, to even walk for exercise. I'm only 45. I'm not ready to give up yet! I'm praying Monday's surgery takes weight off my joints and buys me some time.

    Feeling sorry for myself

That's just mean! Why Ensure when there are so many good protein shakes & powders out there? 3 months is crazy. Mine is two weeks, but I'm not allowed any veggies. Just shakes, broth, jello, popsicles. I'm sorry you're struggling. Keep your eyes on the prize, like you said!

    Liquid diet help ?

I haven't lost much either, and I'm on day 7. I lose two, gain one, bounce around. Maybe 3-4 pounds total? I've followed the program exactly, too. I'm hoping I lose a little faster after next week's surgery! Chin up. Some of us just take a little longer!
  7. My surgery's not til next week but I'm trying to look at this as a new life, not a new diet. The way I eat and process food will change forever, so I might as well adjust my thinking along with it. Food will be fuel. My surgery is a tool to help me fuel my body more efficiently. Sweets and treats will be for special occasions, not pick-me-ups or for something to do when I'm bored. Best of luck to you in your journey back to health!

    April surgeries

Can I whine a little? I'm on Day 5 of the pre-op liquid diet. A storm came through & knocked out the power. Now my popsicles are melted, I can't warm up my broth or make jello and my protein shakes are lukewarm. This. Sucks. (Thank you for listening. I feel better just venting! I'm sure tomorrow will be better.)

    Day 3 of Pre-Op Diet

Day 4 for me. Even the dog's food looks good at this point! I keep the protein shakes spaced out (5/day), keep sipping hot broth, eating jello and munching popsicles. One more week!

    Feeling sorry for myself

I'm right here with you! Day 3 of my pre-op liquid liver shrink diet. I think I've lost maybe 1 pound? I'm fine if I stay busy or keep drinking but my dumb ole brain keeps trying to get me hungry. So I chew jello and munch popsicles and sip hot broth along with the protein shakes. It sorta tricks me into thinking it's food. LOL This is just a step in the journey. You got this!!

    Hi Im Jax777

You've lost 48 pounds! That's nothing to get upset about. As for the rest, I can't give much advice. My surgery isn't for another week. But I know whenever I have goals, I look for easy ways to remember and motivate myself. I use MyFitnessPal to track my food. I set phone alarms and reminders to make sure I don't forget things. I have pill strip containers I use to know if I've taken meds for the day or not. Best of luck with everything!

    April surgeries

liquid diet starts today. I've already warned my family and coworkers that I will be a stone cold b**ch for the next few days! LOL I'm allowed 5-6 shakes a day, Jello, broth and SF popsicles. Plus all the sugar-free liquid I want. Bottoms up, my April surgi-buddies!

    Crying spells

It could just be after-effects from anesthesia. I tend to be forgetful, weepy, and super-emotional for a few weeks after any surgery I've had. Good luck & hope you feel better soon!

I'm having this done April 10. I have a giant hiatal hernia which means my whole stomach is through the hernia. They're going to move it back where it should be and do the bypass in the same operation. Best of luck to you!

    Anyone in SC??

I'm in Aiken! My surgery is 2 weeks from tomorrow (yikes).
  19. Hi! I've struggled with PCOS for years. It took several doctors to find one that took me (and PCOS) seriously. I would try a reproductive endocrinologist instead of a general endocrinologist. They seem to know more about things we struggle with. Best of luck, and feel free to ask me anything!

    This is diabolical!

When I was a kid, my dad got frustrated with us on a long car ride and said "I just want five minutes of silence!" 30 seconds later my little brother piped up, "Did you hear it yet?"

    My 600 pound life

Tracy with the lymphedema? So sad but she had a great attitude and seemed to be heading towards great success.
