1. Hi friends, surggery was at 5:00 on tuesday. I alll went very well. I have a few small incisions and one 2 inch one going down to the right of my belly button. I have to tell you the pain surrounding the larger incision is terrible. Its impossible to get up from bed, or a chair, it actually takes your breadthh away. Its also swollen in that area. The doctors said the pain is all muscles. Yes it feels like I did 6,000 sit ups. I was very worried abbout that but they said it will get better. Its only been 3 days and im such a big baby. I never had any surgery before so I did not know what to expect. Its hard for me to even cough. Have any of you hhad this severe muscle pain? Im taking next week off of work to rest up since there is no way I could return on Monday. I Know I made the right decision but wow the muscle pain in that area is pretty painfull and hard to get up and down, foreget about bending, and the swelling. Am I just being over worried? Is this to be expected? The doctor said i will be fine but I get paranoid.

    I don't know what to do.. .

Daisybelle, i am so sorry for your loss, I lost my dad in 2004 and have gained, gained and gained. I made the right choice to be banded next Tuesday and get control of my self. I know your mom would want to see you healthy. Maybe try a support group, or voulenteer. I miss my dad dearly and think of him everyday. Your mom will always be a big part of you. If you have that sweet tooth, try to make a healthy choice, or drink a glass of lite cranberry juice, maybe some oatmeal with a bit of fruit. I wish you well. God Bless

  17. Hi All, I in the process of finishing my tests for lap band. All i have left to do is the Cardiac clearance, Psy eval, Pulmonary test, and Nutrition class. I will be finished my the second week in Feb. My insurance (Blue Cross PERSONAL CHOICE of PA) requires this: The individual must participate in one of the following:
Physician-supervised nutrition and exercise program (eg, primary physician, Optifast, Medifast) over three months consecutively prior to surgery, which includes the following:
Dietician consultation
Low calorie diet
Increased physical activity Behavioral modification OR
Multidisciplinary surgical preparatory regimen (ie, facility-based, pre-surgical program) designed to improve surgical outcomes, reduce the potential for surgical complications, and establish the ability to comply with postoperative medical care and dietary restrictions, which includes the following:
Reduced-calorie diet Exercise program in order to improve pulmonary status Behavioral modification program Ok so I set up a appt for the next 3 months with my primary doctor. What will he need to do/or not to do? Does he just record my weight, take notes, have me start to diet. He is 100% for me having this but I dont want his notes to ruin my chances of getting approval. His written notes are what is going to be sent to the insurance company. Can anyone give me guidance on what to DO or NOT TO DO when I see him? so far with my tests results I have a 44 BMI, High blood pressure, GERD, Osteoarthritis, lower back problems and mild sleep Apena. Thanks Friends!

  21. Hello everyone, I plan on having my surgery about 3 to 4 months from now. Im starting to eat better now and take vitamins. Can anyone recommend what I should be taking? Im 40 so I guess a Caltrate 500+D would be good to start with. Im confused about what vitamin, there are so many and they have all different things in them The One A Day Womens has Calcium so maybe thats not good to start with, do I need Iron? Is just a regular multi vitamin ok? Its so confusing? If anyone can give me advice on what would be good for me and also what I can continue after my surgery. Thanks all of you, This board has been so helpfull!

  23. Hello Everyone, After being 100 pounds over weight for a long time I have started the process of looking into WLS. I found that the Lap band seemed right for me. I have my first seminar Jan 26 at Univ of Penn in Philadelphia. The doctor Im interested in meeting with is Dr Noel Williams. Im looking to finally be able to exercise and enjoy outdoor activities. My weight has never let me do anything. I just turned 40 and I did a lot of research on this surgery. My insurance BCBS Personal Choice PPO said it is covered. Im just trying to find my way around here and read all the information here that you all share. This will help me in learning the new way of life that I will have. I know its a step process, first attend the seminar, then meet the doc, then tests, then the surgery. Im hoping to return to work after 1 week, (I have a desk job 9 to 5) If anyone here would care to share their stories, comments, advice, etc, I would love to hear from you. Also will I need someone to stay with me for the recovery process? I do live alone, but I can have my boyfriend stay if necessary. Thanks again new friends!
