Hi Friends! Im six weeks post op and still a learning Lap Bander. The past 2 weeks I have been having mild to moderate heartburn. Sometimes its every meal, other times its not. I had a honey wheat english muffin with pnut butter and a few minutes later I had stomach pain and that chest heartburn pain. Could it be im eating to much and this is causing the heartburn? Alka Seltzer helps but I really cant take because of the aspirine in it. I dont think I had a pb yet, I never have the urge to vomit but if I eat too much Im in pain (full/pain like I ate 2 whole pizzas) Is this a PB? So far I have been tolerating food pretty well but hate this feeling. Is there anything that I should do? (eat less/slower/acid foods etc) Lately it seems everything gives me heartburn. Im taking 1 prilosec/gallbladder daily. Saw my doc and he said its normal to have some heartburn/nausea, wants to see me in 2 months. Do you think Nexium or Prevasid is better, or before meals take Xantac or pepsid. Thanks again!!

hi Sunta! Wow! I feel for ya! how are you doing? I went to my 5 week dr appt and he told me I dont need a fill as of yet. Do you feel less restriction? I have tons of restriction so far. I have a bit of heartburn sometimes after I eat. -
hi Cindy, I researched WLS for 1 year before making my decision to have Lap Band. Iturned 40 and was 244. and because im only 5'2 it was getting hard for me to do every day things. I did the research and felt Lap Band was for me. Was I scared...sure but I found the best doctor in my city and went through extensive pre op testing to make sure I was healthy enough for this surgery. Sure there are still risks but my weight was killing me. I took the Lap Band plunge on Feb 28 and so far so good....27 lbs down and not at all hungry. Its amazing. My insurance paid for it all so I was pretty lucky. This is a great place to start its where I read posts every day for months before I decided to have it.

Hello Alex! Gald you are ok. Im 5 weeks out now and I really cant even think about a fill. I can only eat so much and get filled really fast. Sometimes I get Pain (I need to eat slower) Sometimes I will get heartburn (yeaterdays salad with tomatoes) but other that that im doing ok. My weight has gone from 244 to 217 (today im 222, no idea how) Maybe I need a BM. Anyway Im really worried about getting that first fill. Do I really need one? My diet is pretty good, the am is 4-6 oz of yogurt or cottage cheese, lunch is 4-6 oz of tuna, chicken and a steamed veg. Dinner is chicken/fish, salad, veg. granted I can only eat a little. Cnat even finish my plate. I have added cheese, crackers, salad and fruit now. It just seems that every thing I eat fills me up so quick. Is this expected at 5 weeks? thanks!

it took me 4 weeks to feel my self. The first 2 weeks for me were bad. I was in pain and felt so tired. At day 10 I started mushies and that helped. I now 5 weeks out and feel good. If I exercise too much or walk too much I get a bit tired. Take your time to heal and you will be fine.

Hi all I wanted to share: Sick of the Isopure drinks so last night I made a Choc banana shake It was great. I used 2 scoops (50 grams of Designer Whey) Chocolate, A little water, a little Non Lactose milk, ice cubes and A ripe Banana I had in the freezer and whiped it up in the blender. I really enjoyed it. I cant want to start berry fruit. Try It for a change of pace!!

Hi friends, Im a new bandster (32 days) and have been doing well so far. This week I have my monthly cycle and really cant each much at all. Is this pretty normal? I usually have 4oz of yougurt or cottage cheese in the am, 4oz of tuna and a few steamed vegies for lunch, then dinner is usually eggs with cheese and peppers, or soup/fish/chicken vegs and maybe a little potatoes. Im going to try salads soon maybe pasta. For some reason this week Im not eating much at all, skipping breakfast and maybe 2tbs of tuna at lunch (I feel sooooo full from that) Could this be because of my cycle? Also is it possible some people dont need a fill? I seem to have good restriction and really dont overeat at all (I do stop when I get the dreaded "IM FULL" pain) I have to get usted to eating slow also, I was always a person who ate really fast. Thanks again!

Here is my chicken recipe: Make some Breaded Chicken Cultlets: I use Egg, Progresso Italian Bread Crumbs, Italian Cheese, salt, pepper Lightly fry in some oil, or Bake on Cookie Sheet you dont have to fully cook cutlets. Layer Cutlets in Pyrex dish Cover with ripe Plum Tomatoes or a Can of whole Plum Tomatoes (drain juice) Add fresh Basil leaves to top of tomatoes Add Fresh Mozzarella cheese or low fat cheese that melts Bake at 325 until hot (tomatoes will be juicy and cheeses is all melted) Enjoy!!

wow, im having flashbacks! I loved the bacon egg & cheese biscuit and the double cheeseburgers. I found my self at the drive through many occasions eating 2 helpings. Boy did I have a problem. Then I would pay for it with the terrible heartburn pains and say NEVER AGAIN. Im a month out today and I still have those cravings and would I consider having a bite...yes, but I could never eat a whole one, and Im not even had a fill yet. Maybe thats bad, but I think im really in control. So far so good!

Hi friends, My friends and I are going to Jamaica to a all inclusive resort in July. I had my band surgery March 1. Am I going to have a hard time being there? I know I have to make healthy choices while there, but I really dont want to get sick. Has anyone gone away 4 months after surgery? I know I can graze little meals during the day, but dinner may be a struggle. What about taking Cipro for stomach distress? Should I? Any advice would help be. Thanks again for your support!

Smart Beat! Its so good!! -
Hi friends, all of my incisions look good and are closed. One small one is giving me trouble, a few stitches popped up and the scab fell off. im left with a tiny gap thats red and moist, a little red but not bad. it drains a little. Im not sure if I should try to pull it together with steri strips or leave it uncovered and wait til another scab forms. I have a call in to my doc office to see if I need a antibiotic. I really just think the thick scab was protecting the area and now thats its gone it looks scary. Anyone have any advice or did this happen to them?

its about 1/8 of an inch. the doc said its not infected at all, just new skin trying to regrow. It has filled in a lot since friday/ Im not concerned about scars at all. Over time they will fade. Just glas to know there is no infections!
