Does anyone else watch this show when they are feeling down or weak?
-
So, I had surgery March 16 and lost 25 lbs the first week! Then didn't lose anymore and started gaining weight! I have reduced my calories by 1/4 of what I used to eat and I'm following the diet! (No carbs, very limited fats). My family is losing weight like crazy from our lifestyle changes! Anyways, I went and had my thyroid panel done and I have hypothyroid. Could this explain my weight gain???? I feel so depressed, I've done what's asked and even started excercising....

Hypothyroidism and frustrated
Candigal replied to Candigal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope, I lost 25 lbs the first week. -
My doctor had me do Clear liquids the first day post op, then come home on soft foods and he told me to progress as I felt comfortable. I'm 10 days out and I'm eating normal (haven't tried red meat or pork), making healthy choices, and trying my best, but I see all these other people on 3-6 weeks of liquid and I'm wondering if my doc is a quack! Anyone else have a doc like mine???? My weight loss is at 30 lbs in 10 days, just FYI.

The first week home after surgery I lost 20 lbs almost instantly, but at 2 1/2 weeks post op I'm still at the same 20 lbs I lost the first week. Is this normal? I know not to watch the scale and 20 lbs is 20 lbs I don't have to carry anymore, but I just worry.

Eating too much too fast
Candigal replied to LongSleevedT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't get a full feeling when I eat. I get this weird bubbling in my stomach and that's how I know it's time to push the plate away. I usually don't feel full until about 10 minutes after I'm done eating -
15 days post op...Still catching up on Sleep!
Candigal replied to 10stackzz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to work at 2 weeks post op and I come home and sleep or at least. Remember we just put our bodies through a lot. I do feel better just sleepy a lot. -
i am amazed at how much money I am saving by not eating out!

I used Cahaba Valley Surgical, Dr Christopher in Birmingham, AL. It may be worth the drive. He was very direct and my process was straight forward. I didn't have to jump through hoops.

I have tricare south prime and was one month from consultation to surgery. I did not have to do a psych consult or a nutritionist (the docs office had one and so did the hospital). My BMI was 40 and it fluctuated.
-
Just get a referral from your pcm. Tell them you don't feel rested when you wake up. Is there another bariatric surgeon you can see? If so, then just call tricare and change the physician on the referral.
-
Bariatric ballers! I love that! I haven't purchased any hookers or drugs, but I'm still early post op....jkjk 😂
-
I had tricare prime too. have you had a sleep study done? I would suggest that. Do you snore at night? Sleep apnea is a co morbidity and most obese patients have this issue. Hope this helps.

14 days post op 6 wks Pregnant
Candigal replied to Marcella Restrepo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If the topic of your thread is correct, then you would have been 3-4 weeks pregnant at time of surgery, which is definitely something that would be seen on a blood pregnancy test, if it is a viable pregnancy. Even a urine would show a positive at that point. Definitely talk to your surgeon and get in with an ob/gyn asap. 400 count is very low for HCG, it doubles everyday after implementation. I wish you the best of luck! -

Sip Sip Sip ... Not Me !!
Candigal replied to ayanna_vsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What are you struggling with? I'm 9 days post op and I will tell you the first four were hell for me. I was depressed, regretful, and just miserable. I couldn't get the protein down because no it made me gag, I just wanted a cheeseburger and to cry! I started using Genepro and by day 6 I felt human again. At one week I got on the scale and had lost 20 lbs! It does get better, let me know if you need someone to talk to. 😊 -
Sip Sip Sip ... Not Me !!
Candigal replied to ayanna_vsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery last Thursday and I'm able to drink quite a bit. If I do t sip, I get a lot of gas and burp a lot. -
Be careful, if your multivitamin has iron and you are taking a stand alone iron supplement, you can run into some bowel issues. ☺
-
I called my surgeon after this incident and he told me to progress as I felt comfortable, chew everything thoroughly, and the only restriction is to wait on proteins (beef, chicken, pork, etc). If I have upset, go back to clear liquids and restart. I have used common sense and keep things soft and chew for what seems like forever. My body lets me know within one bite if it's a go or not.

I am 4 days out and supposed to be on a soft diet. In all my infinite food wisdom, I ate about an ounce of baked salmon tonight. Now I am having some indigestion and my chest feels very heavy. What do I do now?
-
I'm 4 days post op and in the same boat.

Does VSG really need Bariatric vitamins vs. regular chewable?
Candigal replied to Seraya's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I take alive multi vitamins, I've never been able to do anything chewy, even gummy bears creep me out. I feel good and hope they are substantial, I also take my caltrate D. -
I don't have bipolar 2 or any mental health issues (diagnosed, but some days I wonder), I just wanted to tell you that I'm sorry about the stigma and I hope all goes well for you!
-
Yay!!! For you! I will keep the apple sauce in mind, I am enjoying a hot tea with Splenda now that my pain has subsided.

thank you all, your encouragement is what I needed this evening. I have cried the last three evenings, I know this is a step in the right direction, I just need to toughen up.
