I am glad that you asking this. I think that all the questions you are asking are answered on this and other boards and websites. It should be mandatory that all the doctors and staff spend at least an hour or 2 every day reading all of these posts and answer patients questions. Also treat us with respect and dignity in regards to questions, problems that we are having. I would even suggest that you have regular people like us come to your yearly meetings and talk about the problems we are having with the band and other issues. Chris

They will take them out at the office with a staple remove type of device. We had the dissolving stiches and glue. Sounds like you have a lot of scare tissue to deal with. Chris

My wife and I were banded on 9/12 and 9/19 I will be glad to be your banded buddy. We had are done at Des Pers Hospital by Dr. Minkin. We think will get a third fill after the 1st of the year. Chris

I had just turned 46 and my wife is 43 when we were banded on 9/12/07 and 9/19/07. I Had been thinking about gastric bypass over 5 years but when I heard about the band I felt that this was the best for both of us. Glad we both got the band. Wish we both could have gotten the band when it first came out. Chris

Sorry to here about this set back. Did the doctor say why he will not fill out the form? Is it because you lost a lot of weight or what? Hard to image that he would have you go through all this and not approved. Is this your regular doctor or the lapband doctor? Have you tried to get back in and sit down and talk to him and explain how you feel about this and all the money, time, enegery and effort you have spent with this hole process. If you need any help we could start a letter campaign and hope that he will send it in for you. Chris

Dave: Do you have the fill done in the office or do they do it under x-ray? I wonder if you are still to tight. With the x-ray they can tell if you have to much reflux etc. That is what my doctor looks for when he does the fills. Chris

We went to the doctor before thankgivings and I gained a couple of pounds but the doctors office did not record the last weigh in when I had the first fill since it was not done at the office. I would take a look at what you have paid out of pocket for the last few years and go from there. Also keep in mind you can purchase Over-the-counter stuff, eye glasses, anything that insurance does not cover in regrds to medical exp. How much is your ded etc. All your drug co-pays are covered here. Our doctor wants us on liquids the first day of fills and the mushiees and by the third back to regular foods. After a week on the first fill I had no restriction. He said this time you should really notice it more and it should last longer. Chris
