I had surgery on November 20th 2017. I have lost 50lbs (start weight 250, now 200!)..which I am totally excited about. However, I have just gotten my 3rd UTI since surgery and I really don't know why. I never got them prior to the surgery. I wear cotton underwear, I drink a lot of water/fluids (80oz plus per day), I urinate frequently. I urinate before and after sex (not frequent sex, 4 kids and spouse travels for work), I wipe front to back, I added cranberry supplements to my diet after 2nd UTI. Has anyone else had this problem? And what did you do about it? It is beginning to drive me crazy. I don't want to live with chronic UTI's for life! Also..i have not gotten my period since the beginning on November (before surgery)...anyone else have that happen too?

Yes. Tested positive from urine sample at clinic. Organism is e coli on all cultures. They seem to clear up but come back. Was given the antibiotic Cipro each time.

I just had my sleeve done on Monday 11/20...just 3 days ago. I am having zero trouble drinking fluids. Why? I was expecting it to be an issue since it is such a common thing mentioned on the boards. It actually freaks me out a little that something is wrong. The swallow study looked good the morning after surgery and my Surgeon told me the pouch is about the diameter of a dime. I saw images and yes, my stomach looked like a small worm. In addition, I have almost no pain and thry even sent me home after 24 hours (instead of the planned 48) because i was doing great! Anyone else recover really easily?

I am able to get 4 6-8oz protein shakes in as well, they are 30g/11oz so 8oz gives me 16-21g protein per supplement. I am to be doing liquids for 2 1/2 more weeks. Mostly worried it may be too easy for me to consume soilds too I guess time will tell. -
Did anyone elect to self pay for the gastric sleeve and how much did that cost? My BMI is 38 but I have minimal health issues. Not sure if insurance will approve me...

Hello, I am meeting with my Dr on Monday and am just curious if anyone with BCBS MN had a supervised diet program from the past serve as a suitable attempt at weight loss. I did a Dr guided program that lasted a year, but that was 2 years ago. Anyone have similar circumstances that served as approval criteria? I just don't want to do something over again that I already know has failed and is adequately documented. Also, my BMI is 38. Comorbidities are asthma, hyperlipidemia, impaired fasting glucose, djd in r knee with rec to have knee replacement, depression & anxiety.

Thank you for the responses! It looks like I will not be getting good approved...period. I don't have any of those comorbidities despite the BMI. Sleep study isn't until May. I guess I haven't had a liver panel done though. It so stinks that the diet has to be within the year, because the one I did was exactly what I need to do (and will have to pay out of pocket for again). At the time Bariatric surgery wasnt even on my radar. But none of that really matters because apparently I am too "healthy" per BCBS standards (which really I AM thankful for), and my BMI is not quite 40...a measly 9lbs from being 40. I will find out the details Monday. The frustrating thing for me is I CAN lose weight. I just can't maintain it.....ever.

Do you recall specifics? The program was done by the dieticians and MDs which are also part of the bariatric surgery team at the hospital I would have surgery. It is a top rated Bariatric surgery facility.

Did BCBS mn require the 6 month diet plan? I am just curious bc I did a year long Dr supervised diet plan 2 years ago and I am wondering if that will work in substitute? my current BMI is 38, comorbidities are Asthma, High glucose, High triglycerides, djd in my right knee and gallbladder disease. I see Dr on Monday and I am just sick with anticipation -
I am just beginning this process. Does anyone know if having done a year long Dr supervised diet program 2 years ago will work as the 6 month prerequisite? I meet with my Dr Monday and am just sick worrying I might have to do the 6 month diet...
