    What to bring to hospital?

    Yassss micellar water
  2. Girl you are so strong! That example wasn't specific to you, but also as you pointed out, your core life beliefs due to prior traumas (at no fault of your own!) still left you vulnerable to predatory people. I kind of see it as little pre-drilled holes in your overall psyche and abusive people will plug right into any perceived weakness they can find.
  3. aww thank you! They're lovely, it's a privilege.

    Today is the day

Fantastic, great job! Keep us posted!
  5. Abusive men prey on women with low self esteem and insecurities. Overweight women can be a very easy target.
  6. Well I'm a NICU nurse which is 12.5+ hour shifts, (which tend to quickly turn into 14 hour shifts) and I go to all our deliveries and need to be at peak performance physically and mentally, especially if we have to resuscitate a baby. I often help in postpartum too, which is way more physically demanding. I barely have the energy to get through my shifts now. I'm taking three weeks off but having FMLA as a backup in case of complications eases my mind. I'm single and on my own, so have to be prepared to care for myself if something goes wrong. Plus I think I won't have to use as much vacation time.

    How's it going!?
  8. I believe in you! You deserve to be happy and loved! [emoji171]
  9. My previous insurance was 6 months and then at my 6th month my insurance changed with my new job and they required a year [emoji24]. I'm there though. All approved and scheduled for August! It's been a loooooong year and now just waiting for FMLA eligibility at my new job.
  10. The more notifications I get with additions to this post the sadder I get. A lot of you are in relationships with straight up no question emotionally (at the very least) abusive men. I hope you are able to break free. You deserve better.
  11. You look great. Kill him in his sleep. (Not really but yeah he's being a ******.)

How many weeks to request off

Ooh! I look forward to hearing how it is when you get back to work! I'm an RN in a NICU too and I'll be taking 3 weeks off, just in case.

    For the electrolytes maybe?

I did it! Got sleeved yesterday 9/2!

Thanks for posting all this, it was nice to read. My surgery will be in August and I'm committed to it but finding it hard to get excited and feeling fearful and unsure. Hearing other people's stories is helpful. You look great!

Thinking of you, hope it went well!

    How are you doing!?

5 more Days until I'm sleeved

Haha thank you! Hope your pokes all feel better soon! Surgery is so literally physically rough the way they move you and their tools around, it's no wonder how sore people are afterward!

    Is it just me.....?

Yes it seems like she's got other stuff going on. I haven't seen her have any issues now so hopefully it's under control for her! I'm sure it will be an adjustment. Those 12-14 hour days are long and not kind on the body in many ways! I'm lucky I've got some resources at hand there!

5 more Days until I'm sleeved

That's good to hear! Congrats! Keep us posted! How was/is your incisional/trocar holes pain? My body is a champ already at knocking me over with excruciating gas pains so I'm worried about those LOL.

    Is it just me.....?

Do what you need to do for yourself! I think a lot of people that do this are well meaning, they just don't take into account the complexity of each different person's case. Some may want to sabotage or discourage you to hold you down, but your mom is hopefully just in the worried category!

    New diagnosis

Hey, not sure where you're located, but try to find a psychologist that specializes in eating disorders or go to a specific eating disorder treatment center that can set you up with a team (psych, dietician, support group). I went to Charis in Indianapolis, if you google it you can kind of get an idea of the services they offer. I've been through a lot of therapy for my BED and I still struggle but I have more tools to deal with it now. I also had a year of pre-op appointments and am stable enough that they've approved my surgery.

    Is it just me.....?

Yes! My dietician suggested that I always keep protein powder or prepared shakes with me for crazy days so I can steal sips here and there. Also we are allowed to eat any of the stuff we have in the patient kitchen so that leaves milk (and juices if my blood sugar got that low!), little half sandwiches I could pull the turkey off of, sugar free pudding and jello, single serving packs of peanut butter and string cheese at the very least that are always available even if I bring nothing myself!
