Since I had thyroid cancer, I had to have my entire thyroid removed. So I will be on med for life. Still need to have it checked regularly to monitor med level. Just curious if that will cause me to lose more slowly. kbellakat: are stats are very similar. Do you have a surgery date scheduled?
-
I also have no thyroid, had it removed in 1984 due to thyroid cancer. I hope to have my surgery scheduled in August. I would also like to learn what others have to say about their experiences.

Cigarettes and alcohol can be given up. But food...we have to learn to make good choices for the rest of our lives in order to live linger. -

Has anyone used essential oils (doTerra) to aid in scar healing or digestion? Just attended a presentation and it seems probable but want to hear 'expert' opinions. Thanks[emoji4]

I'm 69, Dr said I can expect surgery to be scheduled in August. I'm so looking forward to it! Going thru my testing. Fed up with seeing pictures of me being the fat one! Hope to stay in contact with some who are having surgery in 2017. Good luck to us all!

Outside match inside and Newadventure2016: thanks so much for your comments! I love the term you use about sliders. I tend to be a visual person and I can understand slider: it slides down. And often too easily. So that tells me those are foods where I need to be exceptionally cautious. im hoping to have my surgery date in August; that's what my surgeon initially said. I'm undergoing the necessary tests and ordering a few protein items to try. Did you find that things you liked presurgery taste different postsurgery. Trying to understand that part. Im reading and learning a little t so I hope there will be less to concern me. -
For those who can't quite afford a FitBit, I have a knock off--VeryFit 2.0 It seems to do most of what the other does. I'm happy with it.

Has anyone used a personal wardrobe/image consultant? Im a few months out from surgery. Im thinking that the loss of weight will give me an opportunity to re-think my image. I enjoy looking nice, but id like to do it right this time, color, etc Any ideas?

I went to an introductory seminar at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs in Feb and to a consultation with the surgeon early in Mar. I've got my appointments scheduled, started my 1500 calorie diet. The surgeon said my insurance has approved the surgery; he said I can expect to have the surgery in August. Quote Edit

Good to hear you both had it done at your age. I'm 69 and wonder if results will be different because of my age.
