  1. It could also be due to dehydration. How much fluid are you taking in everyday? When you experience this try eating a little salt, which may help with the dizziness.

    Struggling to lose

You may be working out too hard on too few calories so your body is hanging on to everything. Try to work out less and/or up your calories. Note that many surgeons don't release their patients to normal exercise until 4-6 weeks post-surgery. You may want to call your doctor for guidance. Good luck!

    Acid reflux

Unfortunately, acid reflux is a common complication of VSG.
  4. The success rate for people maintaining weight loss after dieting is only 5%. Not very good odds so the chance that you would have finally been successful with WW is not very likely. Your post-op regret is normal and should dissipate as you start to recover and lose the IV fluid added weight and then some. Be patient and know it'll improve in the coming days and weeks. All the best!

    had my surgery today!

Gas-X is for gas in your stomach not for CO2 gas trapped in your abdominal cavity after laparoscopy. The only cure for that pain is lots of walking and time. So for folks that haven't had surgery yet, don't waste your money on Gas-X strips.
  6. If you're not taking PPIs, I wouldn't drink coffee (decaf or regular) for at least 6 months post surgery as it increases your risk for ulcers.
  7. I had the same problem at that point in recovery but it gets better. Having a small water bottle with me at all times helped. And my doc told me when I feel light headed to eat a little salt.
  8. I tried a bunch of flavors pre-surgery and a few were ok but after surgery I can't stand them.

    Electric Bicycles

My high end dream ebike is a Faraday Bike, i.e. their new step-thru model, the Cortland. I've test ridden it and it is a great city bike, and very stylish!

    Physiological help

Have you had your labs checked lately? You could have vitamin deficiencies. Go to your doctor right away to figure this out.

    Help!!

You have 3 weeks so this is not impossible but you need to get on it ASAP. You can expedite the request directly at a Passport Agency or Center, or at an Acceptance Facility. Again, review the exact details on the U.S. Passport website. You will also need to call to schedule an appointment at 1-877-487-2778 or 1-888-874-7793. Do this sooner rather than later. Good luck!

    why no soda??

My experience only: I don't drink sodas (regular or diet) because they're full of chemicals and don't offer nutritional value. I'd rather fill up my small stomach with something that tastes better and serves my body well. It's what works for me.

    Possible Ulcer

You need to go to the doctor to get properly diagnosed. Ulcers may be a result of: 1. Smoking 2. Alcohol 3. Aspirin, Ibuprofen, or other NSAIDs 4. H. Pylori infection 5. Diabetes

    Alcohol

Another reason bariatric surgeons recommend no alcohol is because it increases your chance of getting an ulcer.

    Electric Bicycles

Do NOT buy a Pedego electric bike. I bought one last year and it was a mistake. Their bikes are built in China with substandard parts. It arrived with issues and hasn't worked in awhile. And the company's customer service has not been helpful. Most expensive mistake I've ever made. I love ebikes! They're especially great in cities with hills. I'm saving up my money for another one.

    Surgery in Mexico

There are a number of highly qualified and capable bariatric surgeons in Tijuana; just do your research and don't make price the #1 criteria. I went there in April and had WLS at Hospital Angeles with Dr. Ramos Kelly. It was a great experience and I'm healing very well. And I can always call or email him for guidance but for the most part my follow up care is with clinicians in my hometown (PCP, GI, ND). I am so sorry for the loss of your father and injured step-mom. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
  18. I wouldn't go back to a liquid diet, that's a fad diet at this point. Instead, focus on protein first, weigh out the appropriate amount, then vegetables. And don't drink your calories. Are you tracking your food online or in a journal? If not, that can really help. Good luck!

    Married

Congratulations on your weight loss AND your beautiful wedding and wife! You guys look so good together!
  20. When I was in Mexico, the nurses said they're baffled that all the Americans bring Gas-X, which doesn't help the post-op pain/discomfort from CO2 gas being pumped into your abdominal cavity during laparoscopic surgery. It is an Internet myth.

    Traveling soon after surgery

I flew 3 hours a week after surgery. It went fine. Don't forget to hydrate, walk, and do foot pumps when you're sitting down.
  22. 1. Start practicing not drinking with meals. Post WLS, the typical recommendation is no fluids 30 mins before and 30 mins after meals or snacks. 2. Practice taking very small bites and chewing well before swallowing. 3. Give up caffeine so you don't have withdrawal headaches post-surgery. 4. After your next weigh in, give up carbonated beverages, sweets, and alcohol. You may feel lousy for a bit as toxins leave your body but it is best to go through this before surgery instead of afterwards. 5. No food funerals before surgery as you want to be as light and healthy as possible to minimize surgical risks. 6. Start working on your headspace regarding your relationship with food. Good luck getting approved! This is going to be such a positive change in your life!
