    Obsessed with weight loss

What a rude response. You're only 4 weeks post-op yourself but purport to be an expert. Sad.

    Alcoholic Drinks

LOL No need to find what I already have; and we're really really good!
  3. How often are you eating and are you tracking your food with an app (e.g. MFP)? If so, what are your total calories per day and total protein? I wasn't eating all the food you've listed 3 weeks post-op as I was still on puréed food and 4 weeks later, I fill up very quickly on dense protein (2-3 oz) so there's not much room for anything else, even veggies.

No need for name calling. What purpose does it serve?

    Alcoholic Drinks

What's the purpose of your comments to my post? To educate me about carbs? If so, you've made incorrect assumptions about my knowledge of them and impact to my life & weight, nor do you know when or if I will imbibe post-WLS. I prefer that if you want to give a lecture to please keep me out of it and write your own comment and not one directed at me. Thx.

    Conflicted about surgery

Totally normal to be feeling this way pre-op. The statistic is that only 5% of people that lose weight are successful keeping it off, which is not very good odds. But with bariatric surgery you gain a tool to aid in long term success with weight loss. Combined with therapy to help with any food addictions - should give you a great chance at success.

    Alcoholic Drinks

What do you mean what alcoholic drinks to try when weaning back into alcohol? Are you looking for recommendations on low alcohol or low sugar or low carbonation drinks? My favorite drink is champagne but it's quite sweet and bubbly so that might not be the best choice. I'm thinking maybe some Rose or Chardonnay might be a better. I do like vodka drinks but some of the mixers might be hard on the stomach. I don't tend to drink hard alcohol straight; however, some pineapple infused vodka with lots of ice might make a nice drink. I'm only 6 weeks post-op and am not sure when I might try a drink. I may wait 3 months, 6 months, a year, never, who knows. I definitely don't want to cause an ulcer but an occasional drink might be fine. TBD

    One day at a time

Congrats on losing more than 70 lbs so far! You're looking good and I love your comment about walking - way to go!
  9. Yes, you posted correctly in the Gastric Balloon Forum. I'm so sorry you're feeling lousy. Are you taking any PPIs to help with the acid reflux? And what does your surgeon say about your difficulties with fluid & protein intake and so much nausea? Unfortunately I'm not familiar with this procedure so I can't be much help. But I sure hope you feel better soon.
  10. The tablets are fine if you ever need them for gas in your digestive tract. But if you bought Gas-X to relieve the pain of CO2 gas in your abdominal cavity after laparoscopic surgery they won't help. That pain is only made better by lots of walking and time. It's an Internet myth that Gas-X strips are helpful in that situation. Good luck with your 48 hour liquid diet and surgery!

10 days post op & vomiting

I would definitely talk to your surgeon about it so s/he can determine if it's a stricture or something else. Good luck getting to the bottom of this.
  12. That's fantastic! Wish I had a fabulous fitness crew like yours!!

    5 months since VSG

    Looking good!!
  19. So sorry to hear about this setback. Good luck switching medicine (if appropriate) so your BP numbers can get better and you can get a new surgery date.
  20. I put on a poncho & other foul weather gear and walk or bike in the rain.
  21. The saggy skin issue was caused by weight gain not the speed or frequency of weight loss, so aside from plastic surgery once you reach goal weight, there's not much you can do to reverse it.

    What do we need!?

Nope, won't help pain outside the digestive tract. If people think it helped that would be due to the placebo effect.
  23. Dr Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Michigan, who has very informative videos on YouTube (check them out), says that Gastric Bypass has more durable weight loss long term than Sleeve Gastrectomy. He also talks about how you should have just 1 WLS in your life and not "plan" for a revision from VSG if necessary. But the biggie, imo, is the increased risk for GERD (aka acid reflux) with the VSG; to either develop it for the first time or for it to worsen for someone who already has it. GERD also puts you at increased risk for esophageal cancer, which doesn't have good survival rates. And taking PPIs long term increases your risk for dementia and/or osteoporosis. I would talk to your surgeon about the actual risks of RNY vs VSG as statements that non-medical people may make that VSG is so much safer may not be accurate. Base your decision on sound data and guidance from professionals so you make the right choice for YOU. Good luck!

    What do we need!?

I'm curious why you need to add Gas-X strips? It is an Internet myth that they help with the CO2 gas pain in your abdominal cavity after laparoscopic surgery. That pain is only improved by lots of walking and time.
