I'm 5'6" 64 years old and weight on surgery day was 201. Five weeks post op and I'm only down 10 lbs. I just weighed and am 191. So you should be very happy with you 20 lbs.

I'm 5 days Post Op. gained 13 lbs when I was released from hospital. Full of Fluid. I woke up this morning back to my pre surgery weight. Took five days to get rid of all the fluid they pumped into me. On clear liquid diet and am so hungry. Is this normal? I'm getting worried. I'm not sure I can make another week feeling this hungry.

Good new is I'm not as hungry on week five. Eating between 500 and 600 calories and 60 grams protein. One day at a time. Congrats on 20 lbs. that's great.

I called and was told I became dehydrated the first night after surgery. So they increased my IV fluids. I think the nurse got carried away. LOL. I came home 13 lbs heavier. Took ten days to get rid of the fluid. It's been five weeks post surgery I've lost, not counting the 13 lbs of fluid, 9 lbs. seems low to me. I have appointment scheduled on Monday the 16th. I'm hoping for some help. I'm 64 years old and my BMI was 35, post surgery. I'm very disappointed at how slow I'm loosing. I'm taking in about 600 calories and getting in between 50 to 60 grams of protein daily. I do 64 oz of fluids daily too Just so slow. My friend lost 20 lbs her first month. So my expectations were hoping for that too. Oh well.

17 days post op. I just started soft food. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I'm only down 7 lbs and have been stalled for the last three days with my weight remaining the same. I am hungry off and on during the day, even though I am drinking Water or Protein drinks all day. I will add that I stopped taking estrogen pills 30 days before surgery and have made the decision to stay off them. The hot flashes are brutal. Could this stall me? If so I'll get back on the estrogen. Quote Edit

So stage one food for you is soft food. Like oatmeal, cottage cheese and eggs? Sugar free pudding or jello? Everyone seems to have a little different diet. -

What are you eating 3wk postop?

I make seven days today and am still on clear liquids. I can add protein drinks starting tomorrow with the clear liquids. I'm taking in nothing but liquid with protein in it. It will be week three before I go to soft foods. I think my problem is my husband still has to eat. So smelling regular food when everything I drink is the same flavor is hard. I was on liquids a week to prepare for surgery. I almost can't make mysel swallow it anymore. I just pray I can go one more week. I cryed today Cottage cheese will taste like steak to me. I just think I'm having that depressing time that some people talk about. Thanks for the info. -
That's what I'm afraid of. I was told to measure your food to make sure you don't over eat. I have two friends who have had the sleeve procedure one is hungry all the time and has to stay vigilant with her diet and one who is never hungry and has to remember to eat. I'm scared too.

Thank you for all the responses. I had some blood pressure issues after surgery. Would have high BP then drop. They said I was dehydrated and really pushed the fluids through my IV. I went into surgery at 201 lbs. came home at 213 lbs. took five days to loose the 12 lbs. I'm having no other issues. I'm getting down my fluids and protein. This is one determined lady. I sip all day. Just find I'm hungry. Your responses have helped. I forgot about head hunger. That makes sense. I will push through but looking forward to soft diet. I'm 63 years old and have always had a ridiculous appetite. I'm sure I will have to fight my head a bit. I only stayed in the hospital one night. I'm very healthy just obese. Looking forward to the next chapter of my life. Thank you again for all your responses. It helps.
