Revised band to sleeve 12 days ago... mini freak out
larta replied to TheSleevedTraveler's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So sorry to hear this. Have you checked with your surgeon? You should be feeling better by now. I had my band removed and sleeve done 7/10/17 and am feeling very well. No pains, except a little in my throat from the tube. Also, still a little tired. Maybe you have gas build up in your stomach. -
My reflux is gone since I got the sleeve on July 10. I feel 100% better having a band out. I guess it depends on what is causing your reflux. My band was cramping up high on my esophagus also, I had a Hiatal Hernia. So all were done. Band removed, Hiatal Hernia fixed and gastric sleeve in one operation. I am doing fine.

Band Removal and Sleeve in one surgery ... what should I expect?
larta replied to Allie1958's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did have the sore throat and it is still sore from July 10. Actually, I think that has been the worst and a little cough. I am down about 8 lbs. and am 15 lbs from goal. I do hope I begin to desire some food. I have had a few nibbles and I mean nibbles. Once I nibble like a bite of an egg or two. I have had enough. YIKES.... Possibly, I'll eat more as time goes on. I am getting in my protein shakes. I am glad I had the lapland removed and I do not think and am trying to block out the fact that I had all that stomach removed. (yikes) -
Did your surgeon removed your scar tissue? I don't think my dr did. He is very well known, and an excellent reputation but he only does the surgery if there isn't too much scar tissue. If there is, he removes it and makes you wait 6 months. Everything I read, talked about Dr's removing it. I hope you're feeling better.

Well, it appears us July sleeves are on our way. I see my Dr on the 25th of July and will be moved up to some soft foods....YEAH! I am doing well, glad I did it. Now just slowly getting back to eating again will be exciting. I never thought I could drink so much in my life.

Let's Get it Started, July 2017 Sleevers!

No, the Surgeon did the sleeve and removal of the lapland the same day. He said if her got in there and there was too much scar tissue, I would have to wait. However, he said 95% of the time he does it at the same time. I was concerned, because I noticed a lot of people had to have 2 surgeries. He is very highly rated and had done Baiatric Surgeries etc. for 20 years. He said the best thing I would do would be to get rid of the band. It feels good to be gone. -

I don't get to eat any of that yet. I am still on liquids. YIKES. Can't wait to get on some food. -
I had my surgery on the 17th. I am doing great with the exception of some pain in my upper right back. Seems like it could be air etc: trapped. Nothing I can't deal with, and am certain it will pass in the next couple of days. I have lost 6 lbs. I only have 13 more to get to goal. ugh....I had the lapland removed. I lost over 60 lbs with that. I can tell this is 100% better then the lapland. I never thought I would say this, but my concern is loosing too much weight. I see my surgeon on the 26th and then can start some food...lYEAH!!!!
-
I will have sweets in moderation. With my lapland which was removed, for the sleeve, I ate EVERYTHING and ANYTHING but I got satisfied sooner and never over-indulged. Regarding dumping. ..I am going to start slow with foods and see my bodies reaction. You have to know yourself. Many people have dumping, and or gain weight back etc; you can overeat the wrong foods and not get healthy. I can already tell this Sleeve is 100% better then that lapland that was choking the life out of me.
-
I was converted from lap band to sleeve. I ate everything in moderation with the lap band except for a few things that just didn't work for me. Strangely, one thing I could not eat was a banana and, or french fries. Primarily I tried to eat healthy, but I am a social person and travel a lot. I am not going to not enjoy food in moderation. If its a problem, then I won't eat it. Geting all the protein in is paramount.

Wow..Surgery is tomorrow for you. Let us know how you're feeling. It's normal to be a little and even sometimes, a lot nervous.
-
Hope you're feeling better soon. Yes, the first 4 days were kind of miserable. Today is a good day. Those muscle cramps (like I had done 100 sit up's) have subsided.....YEAH!!!!
-
Hi I was great in the hospital. I didn't get some muscle pain (like I have been doing sit ups) in my stomach until I got home. I still have them. Did you get to escape those. Aside from that I'm doing well. Although, I gained 3 lbs.

Enjoy your mock cocktails. Take it slow, see how you feel. From everything I read, it will not do permanent damage. Probably no damage. what will do damage, is that diet mentality, that makes you crazy. Enjoy your cruise! Enjoy your new life and everything that comes with it. Yes, that may include a couple of mock cocktails. It sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and have thought a lot about this. Happy Cruising!

I'm glad you talked to your Dr. You know your body and know if this is normal healing or could be something else. If it continues, I would continue to check with him. Better to be safe then sorry.
-
I would suggest you let go of the numbers game. Only a few weeks out, your body is still healing and adjusting. No a 100 calorie popsicle didn't have you gain that weight. Also for me , part of the wonder of this type of surgery ( I previously had lap band) is that the all consuming focus on food is diminished because we can eat so little. I gained 7 lbs when I came home from the hospital. I am now back at the weight I was the day of surgery. I expect my weight to fluctuate, not because of calories, but because of physical changes and adjustments. Over-reacting... possibly but its good your conscientious about your health.

If you are eating slow, and chewing and not getting sick, you must be doing okay. However, If you feel you could be eating too much, I would cut back a little. It is possible to stretch your pouch. Congratulations on your new found life.
-
Love your enthusiasm. You should feel good and it appears you're doing all the right things. I need to work on my strength training. I am pretty good with walking. congratulations on feeling so good and doing so good

I am getting 64 gm of protein. Then I drink all I can...I ate 4 popsicles last night. It scares me when I read people don't go out to dinner, order a little soup if they do etc; I am very social and go out a lot. I managed to loose over 60lbs with the lap band and I was going out constantly I made wiser choices, and had smaller amounts. I plan on eating like a somewhat normal person, just smaller portions. I hope this is true.
-
Sounds like a good idea "puddings" what kind of pudding do you use. I can get my protein in with 2 protein drinks. Harder getting water, etc in. Yikes....getting tired of these liquids. Would absolutely love a soft boiled egg. I am back down to my starting surgical weight. (shocker when I gained 5 lbs)

I am doing protein shake, popsicles, water and broth. Tummy still sore. Hopefully will cross a bridge tomorrow. Actually, it is not hard to get things down into my stomach. I had a lap band conversion, so I was use to being so tight and uncomfortable. -

Well, it appears we are in the same boat. Kristin 36 hr out and hurting. Yes, so am I. My pain is like I have done 100 sit up's......YIKES Overall, all is well. Oh I also gained 3 lbs. lol -

I am pretty much concentrating on my protein and water. Interesting, I gained 5 lbs after surgery. I have lost 3, still need to loose 2 more to be what I was at surgery date. I am a Low BMI, so I'm not as concerned about loosing a lot, but I pertaining don't want to gain. This is harder then I thought. Still have pain in my stomach (like muscle cramps) Does anyone still have those after 3 days?
-
I would focus on trying to get it in, but not "speeding it up"....If you drink or eat too fast that will cause the nausea. Hope this helps
