Apple1 replied to Newme17's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I feel the same. I am running errands today trying to get everything done so I won't have anything to do the week of surgery. I will have a busy 4 days at work starting tomorrow so I am hoping that will help time fly by. Have a great monday everyone! -
I am I crazy for considering surgery
Apple1 replied to Apple1's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Thanks for your comments, but if you read the thread you would know that I have already decided to go to Mexico for my surgery. I did my research and found an excellent surgeon. My surgery will be May 15th. I am confident that I have made the best choice for me. I am looking forward to reclaiming my health and eventually maintaining a healthy weight. -
I just started reducing my caffeine today. I bought some coffee that is supposed to have half the normal levels. I am trying to step down so I can avoid the bad headaches. I am going to switch to full decaf in a couple days. This isn't easy for me because I love bold full flavored coffee. I can do this though. I know as soon as I am allowed I will drink the good stuff again.

I feel for you and I am right there with you on feeling sluggish. I decided to try and quit caffeine so i bought coffee that has lower caffeine levels so I can step down and hopefully avoid major headaches. I haven't had a headache today, but just seem less energetic overall. Carrots and pickles seem an unusual combination lol what ever helps us stay on tract!! We got this!! -

Thank you! Today has been the weirdest day. I have been craving all the bad evil carb foods that I usually avoid anyway because of my diabetes. I am doing my best to stay strong. I know I can do this!! -

I am very excited and nervous all at the same time... I feel like a a big bundle of emotions. I was given a 3 day pre-op, but I decided to extend to a week because I figured any weight I can lose now would be great. I have to start getting focused and ready for this because today I have had the worst cravings for foods I wouldn't even normally eat because of my diabetes. Has this happened to anyone else the week before their surgery? -
Congrats. Was that decaf coffee?

May 2017 Sleevers?

How did your surgery go? Any updates? -
Oh ok. That scan sounds interesting. Do you lose weight at a fast pace when you digest food so fast?
-
I haven't had my surgery yet, but this is the first time I have read about a recommendation to eat constantly all day long. This sounds like grazing? How does one find out how fast their digestive system is? I would like to know how fast mine is. I think mine must be slow like a turtle because it takes me forever to lose weight.

Who are you telling (pre-op)?
Apple1 replied to Arthur Dent's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I decided to only tell my husband and my adult children. I am taking two weeks off from work and not telling anyone. I am a very private person so I really don't think anyone will ask. -
That is the same preop diet I have. May 15th is my day. I am getting excited and nervous.

Self Pay Surgery Requirements
Apple1 replied to FLBoyMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if surgeons in the US have any set waiting period. I think it varies on the requirements. Some might want you to lose a certain amount of weight and have medical test for clearance for surgery. Most will want you to do a two -4 week pre-op diet. I am going to Mexico and did not have any specific requirements other than the preop diet. My BMI is lower than most though at 31 and this maybe part of the reason. I scheduled my surgery 2 months out so I would have time to research and prepare myself mentally. Good luck and I hope everything goes well for you. -
I am on the 15th and my surgeon has me on 2 days of protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and a lean protein meat and veggies for dinner. The day before surgery clear liquids only.

It is fine. She is such a joy always smiling and ready to play. I have always said the best benefit to having kids are the grandchildren you get to enjoy later. -

Thanks for the video jerseyjules. One important motivation for me are my grandchildren. I want to be here for them. This cutie pie keeps me on my toes and I need to be healthy and in shape. I want to set a good example. -
Absolutely. We are all going to need some support during the coming months.

Good for you getting back on track. You can do this. Just keep your eye on the prize.
