May 15th, 2017 Sleevers Check in Here!!!
Apple1 replied to Newme17's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes. The yolks from my chickens are orange and the whites are thick. Very tasty. -
Also don't rule out low blood sugar if you have been feeling shakey. Mine dipped to 49 the second night after surgery and I had to drink some juice to get it up.

I am like you two, nothing is coming between me and my cheese..lol.. I have started buying more organic foods and very little processed. Growing and raising what I can in my little backyard. Here is a photo showing the difference between store bought eggs and my chickens eggs, there is no comparison -
not losing weight day 18 post op
Apple1 replied to camony's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think we are all individuals and will lose at our own rates. It makes sense if you have less to lose that it will be slower coming off. Everything I have read says stalls are common especially at the 2-3 week mark. I would weigh yourself less often and don't stress. -
When to worry about carbs?
Apple1 replied to SouthJerseySleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since I am only 10 days post op I am just worried about protein and fluids. I will probably stick to a moderate low carb diet as I progress mainly because I want to ensure my blood sugars stay good without medication. Healthy carbs in vegetables will always be in my diet. -

ok, I looked and found some photos of my garden from last year and before. Looking at these makes me sad that I did not get anything planted this year thus far. But next year it will be great. I included a couple before planting and you can see my nosy chickens inspecting..lol.. -

It does, but it was a necessity, we were hoping the old one would last a few more years, but we had a bad leak and couldn't wait. We raised our children in this house and it is way bigger than the 2 of us need now, but there are too many memories here so we will probably stay forever..lol.. -

I also have chickens in my back yard ..lol I love fresh eggs, but commercial eggs are just gross once you have eaten a truly good egg from a free range chicken. I use containers for my garden and I have a couple raised beds. I have to protect mine from the chickens 🐔 they love veggies too. I'll post some photos later of last years garden. I haven't planted anything yet this year so I may just do tomatoes and squash. -

I do love my veggies. I make a roasted veggie dish every summer that has a little of everything from the garden. It is so simple just vegetables, salt pepper, garlic, basil, and some olive oil drizzled on top. So delicious 😃 Now I am craving lol P.S. I almost forgot the cheese. You can add parmigiana or any cheese to the top if you like. -

I like that idea. I don't have any calorie goals on my plan, but I am nervous that I will over do it at some point. I think for now I am going to track and maybe once I get the hang of portion sizes I will ease off a little. -

I know right, I love garlic bread, but it doesn't love me. Maybe once in a blue moon for a treat I will allow myself some bread, but it has too be really good bread...lol.. That sounds like purée. Just try a little the first time and see how you do. I tried puréed soup and cottage cheese and both were fine. -

I quit eating bread about 6 months ago because even one slice would spike my blood sugar. I buy the low carb wraps if I want a sandwich and they are pretty good. I have been drinking unsweetened almond milk also. The chocolate is really good. There are many things we can do to eat healthier that is for sure. Lets all share any good recipes we find. -

Have you started with puréed foods yet? I have so many phases on my doc/nuts plan it is crazy. I have 9 phases!🙄 So technically I suppose I shouldn't eat the ricotta bake until Monday, but my stomach has been good so i am gonna try it and see how it goes. -
Sugar-free versus regular popsicles
Apple1 replied to Cassicakes01's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't understand why anyone would even think about eating a regular popsicle?? Your body does not need the sugar and it would just lead to more cravings. Our stomachs are so small at this point I would be focusing on healthy foods. -
I wasn't given any calorie guidelines just protein and water. I am supposed to get 65-80g protein and 64oz of water. I am 10 days post op and I hit 500 calories today.

When I burp that is my signal to stop also. I almost wish I had the runs because I am so bloated here. I took some miralax tonight and I am hoping I get lucky tomorrow. -

I got mine at GNC, but I couldn't drink them. They tasted horrible to me. I was excited to try them because of the 40g of protein. I hope you like them. -

Sorry gals no cooking tonight. I had to go to my grandsons school awards program so it was leftover soup from last night. I am going to make the ricotta bake for tomorrow night. I can't wait to try it. -

So glad to hear you had a good day! I tried some cottage cheese for lunch and it went well. I was able to eat 4 oz with no problem. I am looking forward to scrambled eggs with cheese. I think I am going to try that next week. are you keeping track of how many calories you are consuming in a day? I made it to 500 today! -
Help needed with decision RNY or Sleeve
Apple1 replied to Terri70's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I also considered bypass for the same reasons. Ultimately I decided to go with the VSG and I haven't taken any diabetes meds since day 2. I am hoping this will last as I am not eating solid foods yet. -

This a good warning for me to be prepared when I go back to work. Food prep is going to be essential to staying mostly on plan. what did you do? I think I would have made a wawa run and got some soup or yogurt.
