  1. Yes, I think all of us have had that pain now. Mine comes and goes, but is much better after a couple of days.
  2. I can eat about 3oz at a time and then I can tell I am full. I get a slight pain in my chest and I burp. I chew really well and eat very slow. I have done well with thigh chicken meat, salmon, and ground turkey. I usually only have room for a couple of bites of the veggies. I am allowed puréed meat and soft fish now so I am not worried about hurting my stomach.

    Carbs

What kind of carbs are you thinking about reintroducing? I would stay away from rice, bread, pasta, potatoes... simple carbs. They are empty calories and can cause cravings for more. Complex carbs found in veggies and legumes are much better for you. There is a big thread on carbs in the General weight lost section you should check out.
  5. How many days post-op are you? If you aren't meeting your protein and fluid goals you will feel weak. I think once I was able to consume at least 40g of protein my energy started to return. For me this was about 4 days post-op. I was walking 2 miles at 5 days. My bs went up the first night after surgery and has been normal without meds since then. Keep an eye on your bs if you are diabetic because it can dip low. Also if you are not used to normal bs 65-80 you may feel like you are having a low even when it is normal.
  6. I am three weeks tomorrow. I have been focusing on protein and fluids and I have set my calorie goal to 800 in MFP. I haven't actually reached 800 yet, but I have gotten close. I don't want to mess up my metabolism by staying low calories for too long.
  7. I think once you are able to take in more calories you may feel differently. I have never regretted my choice to have surgery, but I have been healing quickly and I am up to 700-800 calories already. I have plenty of energy.
  8. I have never heard that our stomachs grow back?? That is absolutely wrong. This is a permanent procedure.
  9. Yes, that is it. I still have mine. I stopped using it once I could easily do it.
  10. You were vague about what she is actually eating, regular foods encompasses everything.. I would be concerned about causing complications as well as sabotaging any chance that she will benefit from the surgery and lose weight. Is she meeting her protein and water goals? Is she at the very least choosing healthy foods? I think you need to discuss this with her doctor or nut.
  11. I had this plastic thing with balls in it and I had to breath in and try to move all three balls to the top of the tubes. My doc said it was to help clear the lungs and prevent pneumonia. At first I could only get one ball up, but I kept at it and after about three days I could get them all up easily. I think it really helped to use that.
  12. That sounds like a fun day yesterday! I am so blessed to have this group to keep me company..thank you @Sweet as peaches. I was so lazy yesterday so today I plan to get some stuff done around the house. I am gonna mop all my floors and clean out the chicken house. That should count for some good exercise.. It is time to get motivated so you ladies have a great Sunday and I will check back with you later..
  13. I have been keeping up with that thread and I think your contributions are helpful. Many people do not want or need to eat a keto or carb restricted diet. I am learning so much about diet and nutrition these past few months and it is going to be so useful moving forward.
  14. I don't have any picky eaters to deal with..lol my dh eats whatever I cook and we never have leftovers because he always looks in the frig and takes them for his lunch. Now my grand kids are a whole different ball game...lol.. My grandson Isaiah is the pickiest eater I have ever seen. His food can't touch on the plate, he won't eat crust, he hates sauces, ... I can't remember all of his rules when he is eating here..lol so I let him serve his own plate.
  15. Yes. They are delicious and really satisfied that crunch I was wanting. I made too many...lol.. I keep forgetting how little I can eat now. I don't think they will keep very long so I am hoping to pass some off on my children/grandchildren today. With my dh out of town for next two weeks I need to remember I am cooking for one and it is hard.
  16. Hi there @rkbarnes7 welcome. I do believe you have hit the famous 3 week stall. Look it up with the search tool, as it is very normal in this journey we are all on. I would weigh less often if the numbers on the scale stress you out. For me I usually weigh twice a week, but I only use my Monday morning number for tracking purposes. If you are following your doc/nuts plan and hitting your protein and water goals then just relax, the scale will eventually move. I am not a veteran, but I have researched the topic of stalls and most are broken by changing up a little. Maybe try eating a few more calories, or up your water, add in a little more walking, ect... I think you are doing great and don't forget to keep track of the NSV as we are often losing inches even when the scale isn't moving.
  17. This thread has been very educational for someone like me who is trying to figure out the best diet moving forward. I still check my bs at least twice a day and my numbers have been good. I haven't had a bs over 110 even 1 hour post meal so my numbers have been level with far fewer spikes. My fasting bs has been in the 80's. I am going to use this as my guide in adding complex carbs as I go along. Right now at about 3 weeks post-op I am usually pretty full after eating my protein, but I have been eating a few bites of veggies with my dinner each day. I envy those of you that don't have to consider the effects your carb consumption will have on your diabetes. Maybe my diabetes is in remission now and will only get better with time as I lose more weight.
  18. I have been craving something with crunch so I am making these crackers. I will eat a couple with my ricotta bake tonight for dinner. I hope they turn out ok.

    Waking up after surgery

Everything that happened to me while I was in the recovery room is fuzzy. All I remember is feeling nauseous and refusing to move to another bed so they could transport me to my room. The next thing I remember is being in my room with my dh standing next to the bed and the nurse putting meds in my iv. I slept off and on for the next 4-6 hours before getting up to pee and walk.
  20. I Googled it after I asked. Unbelievable that someone would use such a derogatory term in their signature.
  21. I am feeling better @Sweet as peaches, thank you for asking. The pain is still there but much less this morning. i have a question. Do any of you know what a "Snowflake" is? I saw this word in someone's signature stating " if you are a snowflake" ..... I have never heard this term before, but I think it is being used in a derogatory way.
  22. It is still there, but less this morning. Maybe it is the same pain and just a normal process of healing? Sometimes it is hard to know if we are doing too much too soon. I have found myself forgetting about having surgery while I am at work and being super close to lifting something too heavy.
  23. Yes, I love slow cooker meals also.
