  1. You can definitely see the difference. I think you look younger!! How did you make the collage? You did a great job.

    Confused

Wow, that is a lot of meds. I thought I had it bad taking 2000mg metformin and 1.2ml Victoza. I probably should have been on insulin, but I am glad I got the surgery instead!! I hope you are able to lose some if not all of those medications!

    Confused

I think you will most definitely lose weight after surgery if you follow your doc/Nuts plan. I was never insulin dependent so I can't really make any recommendations, but there really isn't any reason you shouldn't lose weight. I have an auto immune thyroid disorder which I take medication for and I am losing. Great job getting your A1C down!

    Confused

Did you measure your portion sizes? If so what were they? I think our ideas on portions are very wrong before WLS. I put myself on a low carb diet in January to lower my A1C. It went from 11 to 6.2 in 4 months. I only lost 20 pounds though. I thought I was practicing portion control, but in reality I was still eating too much. You will lose weight once you have the surgery. The amount we are able to eat is so small. Have you weighed out 3 oz of food to get an idea of how much you will be eating?

    Veggies for purée stage

I personally wouldn't eat mash potatoes because they are very starchy and high carb. You can puree just about any vegetable. Some that work for me are green beans, cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, spinach, ect.. sweet potatoes would be a better choice over white. I hope this helps.
  6. Good morning all. This has been quite a journey the first month. I weighed 230 on January 1rst and I put myself on a low carb diet and lost 22 pounds before my surgery. Here are my stats now. SW- 208 Cw- 189.5 So I lost 18.5 pounds this first month. It is amazing to me that I lost so much in so little time. More important than the weight lost is the health gained. Normal blood sugar levels were my number 1 goal and I have achieved that. I am very happy with my progress. The hardest part of this past month is figuring out the lifestyle changes that are going to work for me long term. It is a process that seems to be evolving. Sometimes my brain feels like it is on information overload with all of the reading and researching I have been doing. This forum has been a big help and I am very thankful for all of my sleeve sisters for their support and friendship. I am looking forward to your photos @Newme17.
  7. Thank you for this @Newme17. This was my intuition and I am glad to have it affirmed.
  8. Thanks @Newme17. I am excited too and ready for a change. I have a question for all of you. In the past few days I have been trying to listen closely to my body and only eat when I am really feeling hunger. The problem I am having is that this is leaving me short on protein. I usually drink a shake for breakfast whether I am hungry or not. Today I skipped it because I just wasn't hungry. My protein levels are at 50g and I really am not hungry enough to eat anymore today. So my question is would you eat even if you are not hungry just to reach your protein goals?
  9. Ok ladies I did it... I made an appointment for Saturday morning to get my haircut and highlights. Currently my hair is long, about to the middle of my back. I am think about getting layers and cut it shoulder length. My dh will be surprised when he gets home Saturday night.
  10. I have no idea what to set my goal at? I am used to weighing in, it has become a bad habit since gaining weight. My weight fluctuates so much I have gotten used to it so i don't stress out too much about it..lol..
  11. I will be weighing in tomorrow even though it isn't my usual Monday weigh in. I will also be weighing in on Friday so I can post my weight for the summer challenge thread. I thought it would be fun to join in.
  12. Hi there @Sweet as peaches. I'm glad to hear work is going well for you!! I missed your posts for sure. Sleeve sisters for sure...lol..
  13. My surgeon Dr. Illan with Bariactric Pal also does. It sure made me feel better.

    Sharing with coworkers??

Not everyone cares to share their private medical information with co-workers. Many people are more introverted and just feel no reason to talk about their personal matters. There is not one right or wrong way. Just because we don't share doesn't mean we are going to slip up. I don't need my co-workers checking up on my weight loss. I have the support of my family.
  15. Ok that is reassuring 😊 I hope everyone has a great day. It is hump day so week almost half over...lol
  16. That is good news! I can eat about 3 oz of protein and about 1 oz of vegetables. It takes me about 20-30 minutes to eat it. I worry a little because I can eat 4oz already? I never eat more though so I guess I am ok.

    I killed that d@mn interview!

I am so sorry you didn't get the job.
  18. So 31 years ago today I married my best friend and we are still as in love today as we were back then. We have had our ups and downs as all couples do, but I wouldn't trade my dh for anything or anyone. We are opposites in so many ways, but we bring out the best in each other. I am missing him tonight since he is away, and Saturday can't come soon enough.

      Thank you both!!

  19. I bet that made you feel good!! One of my goals as I loose weight is to be more mindful of my appearance and wear clothes that are more flattering. I have been in funk for a while now due to nothing that I liked was ever in my size.
  20. I went through Bariactric Pal MX and had my surgery with Dr. Illan. They were great from the beginning of the process through the end. Your pre-op diet and the length of time you must be on it depends on your weight and BMI. I was low BMI so my diet was just one week prior to my surgery date. So depending on that you could conceivably schedule and have your surgery within 3 weeks. I would contact Bill Yanez and talk it over with him.

    so excited

    That is great!!
  22. That sounds like a plan. I do think measuring how much you are really able to eat at one time will be good information if you need to call the doc. Maybe measure your portions for a day or two if you haven't been doing that. I pray it is nothing and just normal.
  23. I have not had trouble eating like you describe. I think a call to your doctor is a good idea if this keeps up. Do you feel this way with all foods? It is cool that your workouts are going so well. I haven't bothered much with makeup either and I hadn't had a manicure in forever, but I agree it feels nice to look better.

    Surgery Postponed :(

Praying for you! That must be a glitch. I have never heard of tsh that high. That reminds me I need to have my levels checked soon.
  25. I bet. I know how expensive kids are now a days. My daughter and her husband work opposite shifts so they can save on daycare costs. When my two were in daycare back in the day I paid $65 a week for both of them. That wouldn't even pay for one now.
