  1. Have you tried room temperature or warm fluids? I couldn't drink anything cold for the first 2 weeks because I had a similar problem.

    Vitamins

I am taking the Bariactric fusion chewables in berry flavor. They have everything you need in one big vitamin. I take them 3 times a day.
  3. Thank you @Sweet as peaches. It is good to hear you are doing so well. i keep forgetting that you live in NYC. If I was waiting for a cab around here it would be a long wait.. lol.. I am envious that you live close enough to work that you can walk. I have a 1 hour commute each way.
  4. I love hiking!!! My dh and I plan our vacations around great places to hike. I like your idea of using kitty litter ha ha very resourceful!
  5. Ok ladies here are my photos. I have to post them one at a time because I don't have software to do a collage. I added my drivers license photo because that is me at my highest weight 255. The first one was taken last year with my grandson. Sorry it isn't the best photo, but the best i could fine. The next one was this morning before my haircut and the last one After. No belly shots because I never thought to take any befores.
  6. I still don't like plain water since surgery. I drink a ton of diet green tea, coffee, and lemonade flavored vitamin water. Any fluid you are drinking counts toward your 64oz so don't feel like you have to force yourself to drink plain water.

    Hysterectomy

I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago. This was obviously before my WLS surgery but I can say my experience then was it through my body into a big hormonal mess. I suffered major hot flashes and it effected my moods. I would definitely work closely with your doctors to try and minimize the effects as much as possible. I didn't want to do hormone replacement as it scared me long term. In retrospect I think I should have. I don't know how this will effect your weight loss, but be prepared for it to slow down. Your hormones will change and it may take a while for things to even out. I hope you have a safe surgery and quick recovery.
  8. Today is a beautiful day!! My hubby will be home tonight!! I am more than a little excited. I wonder if he will notice changes in me having been away? I know he is going to be surprised when he sees my haircut and highlights. I am a little nervous about going shorter with my hair, but change is good sometimes...

I think I have hit my first stall. I am fine with it as I was prepared for this to happen at some point. I have been bouncing from 289.5 to 290.6 for the past 3 days. It might just be what I call the 5 day bounce. This seems to be my pattern, I bounce back and forth for a week and then drop 3 pounds. We shall see.

My dh and I started feeding a stray cat about 4 years ago. She just showed up on our front porch and never left. My adult son named her Claire. She rarely comes in the house as she freaks out being closed in. She is semi-feral. She will rub up against your legs and pur, but if you reach down to pet her she will growl. My dh built her a cat house and we put a heated mat inside it for the cold nights. My dh loves this cat because he admires her strength and Independence. Claire greets him everyday when he leaves for work and when he comes home. She is never far from our porch. We  caught her in a trap and took her to the clinic and had her spayed and got her shots 3 years ago when we decided she was now our cat. Since my dh has been away I can tell Claire misses him. He is the one who feeds her everyday and he is able to pet her head a little before she lets him know hands off..lol.. Anyway I am not sure why I am writing about this on my status today. I just find it fascinating that my dh (who is not a cat person) and this feral cat have developed a mutually satisfying relationship. It is based on trust and neither expects the other to give more than what they do. My dh respects her desire to not be handled and she shows her appreciation of his care by always greeting him and talking with him everyday...lol.. maybe there is a lesson here somewhere... well Claire will be happy to see him tonight also I think...

Enough rambling I am off to get ready to go to my hair appointment. Have a great Saturday everyone!!

      Sweet as peaches

That is so cute. Claire is definitely a treasure.

  9. That is great news. You will never regret it. Good luck😊
  10. I definitely plan on updating on this thread. Thank you @Newme17 for getting it started. We have 120 pages!! I feel similar to you in that I feel more normal. When I look in the mirror though I can't believe the changes I am seeing. I am looking forward to the next year. I want to make the best of this opportunity and make permanent positive changes. I want to be the best version of myself that I can be. My family is growing with a new grand baby coming in February of next year so I feel like this is the perfect time for me to be taking control of my health. I buy the cheese sticks with the turkey sticks to have for snacks or pack in my lunch for work. I bought some nuts tonight and I plan on trying some for the first time this weekend. I am always on the look out for healthy snacks and new recipes. I think we should share on this thread. I am going to share some photos tomorrow after I get me hair done! I have to find some from highest weight till now to put together. Hubby will be home tomorrow night!!!!

    Drinks after sleeve

I like diet green tea. It is zero calories and I find it refreshing. Water has been different for me since surgery. I used to love it and now not so much. I also drink vitamin water lemonade flavor and coffee.

    Diabetes and liquid diet

I am not nor have I ever been on insulin, but I am a type 2 diabetic. I stopped my medication the night before surgery to prevent lows. My sugar actually went high the first night probably due to the stress of surgery. The second night my bs went low and I had to drink some juice to bring it up. So I would definitely be talking to your doctor to find out how to manage your bs during theses changes with your diet.
  13. Go to your profile page and click edit, on the left hand side there should be some choice like profile, surgery, signature, and trackers. Click on trackers and it will guide you through setting up your own.
  14. I agree completely and that is why I am paying attention to how many calories I am eating right now. It would be very easy to be consuming only 400-600 calories because we are eating so little. I have noticed on days I do especially well hydrating I eat less and that means less calories. It makes me nervous because my metabolism is already screwed up enough.

    BMI Too High--Help!

It is my understanding that losing weight is mostly about your diet so not exercising shouldn't stop you from losing weight. I would try a low carb diet and see if that helps get you stared losing weight. If you google low carb diet you should find tons of information about it. Ask your doctor about a medically supervised diet also and see if that is available to you. I hope you can find the strength to get started and wish you good luck.
  17. This is my plan also. I have thyroid issues as it is and I don't want to risk my metabolism with too few calories.
  18. I am not consistently making my protein goal either and I am one month post -op also. Yesterday I was at 70g, but the day before only 50g. I find my hunger and ability to eat varies day to day. I wasn't even considering the effect of my exercise on my calorie intake until I noticed the net calorie total on my tracking app. I am just not sure if I should be considering that number or just ignore it.

    SAIL INTO SUMMER CHALLENGE

Here are my stats: Current Weight:189.5 Goal weight: 174 Today's Date: 6/16/17
  20. Yes. Warm liquids definitely worked better for me the first couple of weeks. I can drink colder fluids now with no problem.

    Pain

I didn't really have any bad incision pain after the first night. I did have gas pain and bloating for 3-4 days. My body was sore, but I didn't need pain meds after day 2 and just took Tylenol if I felt any soreness. I did have a pain in my side for a day or two about 2 weeks postop, that just went away on its own.
  22. I am curious why you gave up the unsweetened tea? I drink diet green tea everyday and it counts as do all fluids you drink including protein shakes, broth, coffee, etc..

    rice and pasta

I don't plan on reintroducing rice, pasta, or bread. Zucchini noodles are a great sub for pasta, and I use riced cauliflower all the time. If I really want a sandwich the low carb wraps will work just fine. I haven't tried them yet post-op, but I used them a lot pre-surgery.

    6 week post op Diet

I tend to lose in spurts. One week I'll lose 3 pounds then the next nothing, then I'll lose a pound a day for three days then nothing for 5 days. There is no rhyme or reason to it, so i have learned to just be patient and stick with the plan.
