  1. Are you getting enough protein in? Most plans have a goal of 60-80g of protein daily and 64oz of water or other fluids. I know if you aren't staying hydrated or eating enough protein it can cause fatigue. Are you taking vitamins? That is essential also. I think if you feel you need light duty it is a good idea to ask for it.
  2. You can do this !!! You are almost there. Just keep remembering why you are doing this. Imagine yourself as you want to be a year from now.
  3. If you have never had WLS before you haven't had the advantage of the metabolism reset or the lowered hunger hormone Ghrelin. It will definitely help you, but you will still have to do the mental work.
  4. It will only help if you do the work necessary to change your relationship with food. See the replies above. you can definitely make this work if you want to.

    WATER INTAKE

I was a big water drinker also. I always had a water bottle with me and even on my nightstand so I could drink during the night. I was one of the unlucky ones that had a taste change. Water does not taste the same to me. I drink flavored vitamin water and diet green tea now. I also could not handle cold liquids for the first 2 weeks. I am one month out and I can drink cold now, but plain water still doesn't taste the same. I can drink larger sips now, almost normal, but I can't chug anything yet.
  6. I would see your surgeon ASAP. I am amazed they just sent you home with antibiotics.
  7. Bread is a big no no after the sleeve. It will expand and fill you up. Crackers and chips are slider foods that you will be able to over eat on. They turn to mush in your stomach and slide right on through. Some people are able to train themselves to eat just a small amount of those things, but if they are a trigger for you I would avoid them if you want to be successful long term.
  8. I would start addressing your food addictions now before surgery. I would get a referral to a therapists that specializes in these areas. The surgery will be a tool to help you, it will reset your metabolism, but you will still have to make the choice to stay on your diet plan. You need to get in the right mental frame of mind. This is a lifestyle change for life, not a diet. You have to chose to want to develop healthy eating and exercise habits. There are many successful examples of people that have beat their food addictions on this forum. The way to conquer them has been different for everyone, but for me avoiding the foods that I know will cause me to slip up is working. I avoid simple carbs completely. I have decided to stick with a low carb way of eating indefinitely. It works for me. You can do this if you go all in, and make perminate changes to your relationship with food.

How long after surgery did you start to lose weight?

I think this going to be different for everyone. For me I had my surgery done in Mexico so it was a week after surgery the first time I stepped on a scale and I was down 8 pounds. I lost 18.5 the first month. Most people will hit a stall somewhere during the first month.
  12. Hi @queenbee88. There is a forum specifically for sharing recipes on this site. Pinterest is another good place. Also if you google recipes for WLS you will find many. I hope this helps. What stage does your plan have you at now? How are you doing overall?
  13. Yes I would agree. I wonder if my elliptical over estimates calories burned? It also syncs my workouts with my tracking app. I have decide to just go by total calories when considering my intake.
  14. On my tracking app it reports both total calories and net calories and I am wondering which figure is the most important? My workouts and steps walked automatically syncs with the app so I don't even have to input my exercise. The reason I ask is because I thought I was getting close to 800 calories per day, but when I look at my net calories it is actually more like 500-600.
  15. That is the very reason why I decided to fly in the day before. I didn't want to be on a long flight not being able to drink anything. For people with long flights I would definitely recommend arriving the day before.
  16. I flew in the day before, had my surgery on Monday, stayed in the hospital till Wednesday, at the hotel till Friday morning. We spent Friday and Saturday in SanDiego and flew home on Sunday. I was walking pacific beach and we went to Sea World. I just walked slowly and rested when I needed to.
  17. Thank you @Newme17. My dh said the same. We went to our daughters house for dinner. She made Chilli for him for Father's Day and it was a little spicy. My sleeve handled pretty well no heartburn yet... we will have breakfast in bed tomorrow 😉

    diabetes meds after surgery?

I was on 2000mg metformin and 1.2 ml of Victoza and I haven't taken any since that day before my surgery. My bs are completely normal. I haven't had any bs above 110 and my fasting bs is almost always in the 80's. I have read that this happens more often for people that were diabetic less than 5 years and not on insulin. However any reduction in meds would be great.

  24. OMG, we have a queenbee on the forum! Welcome. That has been daughters nickname since she was 11 going on 25...lol... She is in my contacts with that name. How are you doing? I hope you will join in on our support thread. We love to chat and we love photos.
  25. My nut let us start regular coffee at 3 weeks post-op. It has been a lifesaver lol.... I quit caffine 3 weeks before my surgery, but I was happy to have it back as soon as I was able. I have had zero issues with acid reflux. I have never had heartburn in my life unless I was pregnant..lol
