  1. I had my surgery with Dr. Illan in Mexico and he does it for all of his patients.
  2. I am 6 weeks post-op and I am getting between 700-800 calories. On days I workout I am close to 800 and have hit 810. Some days I am just not as hungry and usually 700-750. I think some of us have faster healing and therefore are able to eat more. I am not worried about calories so much now because I know what I am eating is healthy. My net carbs are always below 30 and usually 15-20g. I think moving the calories up a little every few weeks is a good thing. I want my metabolism to be healthy. I am not a nutritionist. This is just my opinion from research I have done.
  3. Me too. I couldn't watch it at first because for some reason it made me queasy knowing it was me in the video. I finally got through it and it is very cool to see exactly what the surgeon did.
  4. I am reading this as I just got back from my morning run.... It feels so strange to be saying those words. 😲 Me a runner?? I started the couch to 5k training a few days ago. I decided the same as you @Newme17, working out in the morning makes so much more sense. I got tired of eating dinner so late...lol this will get us charged up to begin the day.😃
  5. I do that to myself sometimes. I stand in front of the mirror criticizing everything that is still wrong with me..😫 We need to stop. We are changing both inside and out and we are worthy!! Sometimes our brains just don't see the physical changes yet. You are challenging yourself with the mudder event, that is nothing short of awesome.

    Relationship changes

I feel for you. My mom had both also and a major stroke took her life last year. This was my wake up call. I pray your husband will come to his senses and decide to make some healthy changes.

    Long term food plan

I don't eat very much processed foods at all. I eat full fat cheese and I just don't eat much sugar period. I do buy cottage cheese and yogurt, but I cook all my dinners using real food. Look for products that have no sugar added. Many of these are just naturally low in sugar. You should be fine.
  8. I love to watch those documentaries also. That is one of the reasons I have my own chickens now. I watched one about how they raise chickens and it made me sick. I wont buy eggs in the store now. I don't see myself going completely plant based, but I will definitely check it out. I always like to keep an open mind.

    How do you know?

I am 6 weeks post-op. Yes I am satisfied if I am eating dense protein I often can only eat 2.5 ounces before getting full. I feel a tightness and I burp when i am full. I don't like eating until I get that feeling, but I am still learning how much of certain foods I can eat. For example, last night I served myself 3oz of salmon and 2 stalks of broccoli. I could only eat 2 oz of the salmon and one stalk of broccoli and I was full. I think the key to being satisfied is dense protein and fats.

    Relationship changes

My husband has been very supportive. He went with me to Mexico and has been eating mostly whatever I cook for him. I do all the shopping and no junk food ever enters our house. Our relatinship is as great as it has always been.

    How do you know?

I measure out 3oz of meat and 1oz of vegetables. I can't always finish everything on my plate but by weighing my food I make sure that if I do eat it all I am not over eating. This also makes my tracking more accurate. I never eat more than 4oz at a meal.
  12. We miss you bunchs @Sweet as peaches. Congrats on the great weight loss. That is nice that people are noticing. Have you been dancing with your daughter?

    New to all this!

Welcome. Did your doc/ nut give you a plan to follow post op? If you google puréed foods you will get a ton of good recipes. Ricotta bake is one I like a lot. Homeade soups and broths are a good choice. Yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, chicken, and egg salad also.
  14. I have noticed little changes lately with how my sleeve reacts to certain foods. I think part of the problem is me forgetting to eat slowly. I am beginning to forget my stomach is smaller and still healing and eating mindlessly. At first I was hyper aware every time I ate something and now not so much.
  15. I am having this problem with my church clothes. They are all way too big, but I don't want to spend a lot of money yet on new things. I might go to Goodwill and look around.
  16. I had that exact problem yesterday. I chose to hydrate. I think I was functioning on a negative calorie deficit before dinner based on how much energy I was expanding. I ended up with 600 calories for the day, but I probably burned 300+ with all I did. This experience will have me thinking twice about working that hard outside in the heat of the day. In the future I will plan projects like this early or later in the day.

  18. I hope everyone had a great weekend!! I was so busy I don't feel like I had 2 days off..lol... we took Malaya home around 9:30 and have been working hard all day. My dh decided to power wash the siding on the house. While he was doing that I did household chores then I decided it would be a good idea to go by some more flowers to plant in the yard. I just finished up outside and I am beat. so no lentils today. We are gonna have something easy, probably an omelette. I realized just how easy it is to overheat now when working outside. We can't hydrate quickly enough. I had to take several breaks just to cool off and focus on getting fluids in. I hope you all had a good Sunday!!
  19. Yogurt, cottage cheese, homemade soup broth, once you get to puréed stage you can eat any meat and veggies just purée in your blender. Ricotta bake is a popular recipe also.

  21. You should not be depressed at all. Your weight loss is great. I will be 6 weeks tomorrow and I have lost about 22 myself. I started at 208 so we are very close with our stats. I have dropped a whole size down and my clothes are feeling lose again already. I bet you are losing inches. Are your clothes fitting loosely?
  22. What is the best way to wake up on a Sunday morning? With your 10 month old granddaughter snuggled in close sharing your pillow of course. My dh and I had a busy day yesterday watching our little angel and we decided to keep her overnight to give our daughter and son-n-law a little break. I have really started to notice the NSV more this past week and yesterday I definitely had more energy.

I wonder if my scale is accurate? I weighed 187 on Friday and yesterday the scale said 185.2. I find it hard to believe I lost that much in 24 hours. ...lol.. ah well it really doesn't matter because I feel great and my clothes keep getting looser.

Wow, kept her overnight too! That is some energy!!! :) That was a blessing to your daughter and her hubby too. So nice.

If your scale is accurate to measure ten lbs as ten lbs, then yes, the number you are weighing is accurate. Now, your body may have held water the previous day, maybe you sweat it all out running after your granddaughter, but the scale is accurate. Our bodies are not. LOL

I haven't weighed, don't want too still, but I'm curious of where I'm at now. Guess I've got one week and five days to find out! :)

I checked my scale using 2 gallons of water which should have been 16 lbs. it was 16.9. So if I take off .5 for the plastic jugs, I would say my scale is .5 over. So that means I actually lost .5 more...lol it is accurate enough.

      Indeed it is! Lol

  23. That burger looked yummy @Newme17. I grilled some chicken tonight in between chasing Malaya around. That girl can crawl fast. I need to childproof my house and quick. I made my dh some yellow rice tonight at his request. I ate two bites. It was delicious, but I can't bring that back into my menu. A taste once in a great while won't kill me though. I have to learn to cook things I am not gonna eat and tonight was a good test. I finally got the little one to sleep. Babies always look like peaceful angles when their asleep 😴.
