    Well I did it!

Every doctors plan seems to be different. Were you given a eating plan from your doc/nut? I just started eating salad this week and I am almost 8 weeks post op. Most plans have all restrictions lifted by 8 weeks. Raw vegatables seem to be a little harder to digest so I would ask your doc.

    Running

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I have a question for the seasoned runners. I started C25K a couple of weeks ago and I want to know if any of you changed your diet in any way while you were beginning to run? I will be 8 weeks post-op on Monday and I am eating in the 900 calorie range most days. I am eating low carb with my net carbs right at 25-30g and protein 60-75g. Should I change anything? I feel really good and just want to make sure I am ok with my calories and macros.
  4. I will be 8 weeks post op on Monday and after reviewing my log I was at about 400 calories at 2 weeks. I am now getting in 900-950 on most days. I keep my protein at 60-75g and carbs at 30g or less. I don't worry about fat at all. I am running 4 days a week now so I need the energy.

    Im not loosing

I think we need more information to be able to help.
  6. Welcome @Batty's Mom. The best person on this thread for help with vegetarian ideas is @Newme17. She is planning a vegetarian diet also. I am so sorry you went through so much with your surgery. What exactly was the complication, if you don't mind sharing? I hope you are on the road to feeling better now.
  7. You made me laugh @Sweet as peaches. Thank you !!
  8. I was off on Monday also. I was just in a wining mood yesterday for some reason. I got to work and realized I had to do 5 days worth of work in three days with 2 people from my group on vacation. I have used those calculators before, but I wonder how accurate they are especially for someone with thyroid disease? I am probably worrying too much. Now that I have started running on a regular basis I am a little concerned about eating enough. but not too much. Some days I feel like I stress too much about my diet...lol... I just don't want to fail.. you know what I mean? Have a good day everyone!!
  9. Yes. I would most definitely do it again. My type 2 diabetes is in remission and I feel better than I have in the past 10 years😊
  10. I was surprised at how easy the surgery and recovery was for me. I thought because I was a little older (49) it would take longer.
  11. It really sucked getting up to go to work this morning...lol... I hate when they put a holiday on a Tuesday😡 I noticed the past couple of weeks I am often getting in 800-900 calories a day. I think by 3 months I will be up to 1000. I would really like to get my REsting metabolism checked just so i will know how fast or slow mine is. Have any of you thought about doing this?

If you still drink 1 shake a day...

I still drink a shake for breakfast. I have recently switched to a high protein expresso coffee that i mix with unsweetened almond milk. It tastes better and has the benefit of caffeine..lol.. I count mine as breakfast because I eat an early lunch at 11 am. I have a protein snack at 3:30 and dinner at 7. Sometimes a protein snack at 10 before bed. Most days I get in 60-75g of protein and that is enough to fuel my workouts.
  13. Those look very colorful and delicious. I love banana nut muffins!!!
  14. My daughter made this delicious cake for today's BBQ. I ate a few berries and two bites of cake. Those bites were worth it.
  15. I do when I am home, but I don't carry one around with me. Like today at my daughters house I just guessed. I am getting pretty good at judging portions because I have been weighing for the past 7 weeks.. lol... however, that doesn't stop me from eating the 4oz of food too fast. I find if I eat too fast I will have to stop at 2-2.5 oz, but if I chew slowly and take 20 minutes to eat I can usually eat the whole 4oz. what I have started doing is put my fork down in between bites. I am forcing myself to go slow. I am getting better.
  16. Congrats😄👏 you are one busy lady. Isn't it amazing how much easier exercise is after we have lost some weight?
  17. Your mom's faith is inspiring. I can only pray that if I am ever faced with a life threatening illness I will be able to be at peace as she is.
  18. You have me researching this myself. I may sub out a few meals a week to strictly plant based and see how I do.
  19. I had a spiritual experience during my morning run, and I want to share it here because if it helps just one person through a tough moment then 🙏 amen.

I am supposed to skip days between my running according to the C25K program, but in my infinite wisdom I decided that I felt great and since I was off for the 4th I would just run today and take tomorrow off. I know not very smart.

So I am coming up on the third run sequence and my muscles are really screaming at me and the self doubt starts in my head, "what made you think you could ever be a runner?" you are just going to hurt yourself.

And then Just about the time I am thinking about walking the song "Blessings" by Laura Story comes on in my ear buds. It wasn't long before I was running through my tears. This was the message I needed this morning.

If you are hurting, doubting yourself, sad, lonely, whatever you may be going through, know that the Lord is with you.

What if the trials of this life, the rain, the storms, the hardest nights, are his mercies in disguise?

So beautiful. He is the calm in the storm. and on another note, our bodies are able to do a whole lot more than our minds/thoughts tell us. I'm glad you had that beautiful experience, makes you stronger. :)

Thank you ladies. I am beginning to cherish my morning runs, as hard as they are sometimes, they are not only good for my physical body, but they are good for my soul.

Your runs are a great time of being alone with Him. That is something to definitely cherish. :)

My husband is gone by the time I get up to start the day. If my kids were older, I'd leave to do a walk/jog, but I'll have to give it a try in the evenings instead, in addition to my morning workout. But, it is very hard to do, since I'm pooped in the evenings. Some day....

    Coffee after gastric sleeve

I was allowed to resume regular coffee 3 weeks post-op. I love dark roasts and cold brewed. I drink on average 3 cups a day during the week and 4 on the weekends.
  22. We made it home from D.C. About an hour ago. Thankfully the traffic wasn't too bad😃. My son was supposed to be stopping by and letting our dog out twice a day, but it was obvious he did not make it this morning...lol.. we are going to our daughters house tomorrow for a barbecue so that should be fun. I will make deviled eggs and bring some chicken for the grill. I am amazed at how back to normal I feel at 7 weeks post-op? Anybody else feel the same way? I eat less, am making healthy choices, and exercising, but I don't feel like I had major surgery. I actually feel like I have more energy now😃 I hope everyone has a great 4th 😃🎆🎇
  23. I think that is awesome! The only thing missing from my morning runs is someone to join me. For me being able to do the exercise is so motivating. In the past I would have been so out of breath after only half a minute of running. Maybe you will gain a new friend along with increasing your fitness!!

Are You Still Seeing Your NUT?

You can do this in the microwave also with parchment paper. They are good, but don't make too many because they are filling.
  25. I was 9 days before Inreally had a decent BM, if you know what i mean. I had to take a mild laxative to get things rolling. Miralax did nothing for me. I recently started taking probiotics on the advice of @Newme17 and that has really helped to keep me regular.
