Well 23 More Days until sleeved
Apple1 replied to FAT TWO FABULOUS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on May 15th. Monday will be 8 weeks and I have lost 23lbs. I weighed 233 in January and I lost 25 lbs pre-op down to 208. I am losing a little slow, but with my lower BMI it is normal. I am losing inches and I feel great! I am excited for you! -

Not to much longer for you. I remember how excited and nervous I was the last two weeks before my surgery. Hopefully time passes quickly for you and you will take your seat on the losers bench☺️ -
Why does the weight loss phase end?
Apple1 replied to onmyway11's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is why I weigh and measure. I am one of the fast healers. I transitioned very quickly through the food stages and I can eat anything with zero issues at 8 weeks post op. I know I could eat a little more than I am, but I only eat 4oz at a meal. I was able to exercise at 2 weeks post op and was walking 2 miles a day 4 days post-op. I also wonder what this means for my success long term? I started running 3 weeks ago because I want to have a solid exercise routine in place for the long term. I am losing kind of slow, but the inches are coming off. -
I tried a low card flax seed wrap a couple of weeks ago with fajitas. I ended up just eating the fajitas. The wrap was delicious but too filling. I don't think our stomachs have room for that stuff right now.

You will live trust me ...lol.. seriously bread does not have to be a part of our diets anymore. I won't be eating it anymore. There are lots of other options that are healthier.

Almost everyone gets what is called the three week stall sometime during the first month or so. It is completely normal. I am very surprised at how many calories you are able to consume in a day. At two weeks I was right around 400, at4 weeks 600, and now at almost 8 weeks 875-900. You sound like me in that you have had an easy recovery. My stomach healed quickly and I think I. Could easily squeeze in more calories if I tried. I am working towards a gradual increase to 1000 at 3 moths and 1200 at 6 months.

May 15th, 2017 Sleevers Check in Here!!!
Apple1 replied to Newme17's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good morning! It is a beautiful Saturday here on the east coast. I wanted to share this high protein coffee shake I have been making every morning now. I mix it with a few ice cubes, 1 1/2 cups of unsweetened chocolate almond milk, and two scoops of the mix. Blend well in my Ninja and it tastes a lot like a Starbucks mocha frappachino without the whip cream. Very good and with 20g of protein and a good shot of caffeine lol. -
I have the same problem. I went from hot all the time to freezing. My dh used to get cold I had the ac set so low, now I am the one turning the thermostat up..lol crazy.

I found this calculator for RMR and TDEE http://www.health-calc.com/diet/energy-expenditure-advanced I thought it was pretty cool because it asked you more questions about your daily activities to increase the accuracy of the calculation. It said my RMR was 1537, the health app on my phone says 1600 so pretty close. -

Last night I made a Peruvian style salad that my mother-in-law showed me many years ago. This is one of my hubby's favorite meals. It is just any kind of lettuce usually 2 or 3 kinds, radishes, carrots, celery, cabbage, tomatoes, basically whatever you want. Then about 4-6 cans of tuna and usually hard boiled eggs. The dressing is 6-8 limes squeezed over it with salt and virgin olive oil drizzled liberally over all. The traditional way to serve this is over a bed of yellow rice, but I served it over riced cauliflower lol. Anyway it is a very healthy dish that could easily be served with garbonzo or lentils beans instead of the tuna for a vegetarian dish. -
I never did Zumba, but I am feeling pretty energized with the running program I have started. Maybe you need to up your protein. Are you taking your vitamins?

I haven't noticed a difference, but I think poop smells bad either way. -
So afraid I am going to screw this up.

Head hunger can be hard. I second the suggestion to start a new enjoyable hobby. I have chosen running which has the great side effect of helping me get fit. Stay focused on the reasons for your surgery and concentrate on developing the healthy habits that you are going to need to succeed long term. Frame everything from a positive viewpoint. Instead of thinking about what you can't eat, say to yourself I am so glad I am choosing to eat healthy foods that are nourishing my body. Seek out recipes for the types of foods/stage you are at. -
Yes, I have noticed this also. I am using a new body spray and I was showering twice a day for a while ..lol. I don't notice it as much this past week. Maybe my body is normalizing it now?

I love this thread Joan!!! I too have noticed many positive changes. I cut my hair to shoulder length also lol. I feel better than I have in the past ten years😄

6 month stall 2 lbs up 2lbs down
Apple1 replied to Cleo in Mckinney's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is exactly why I won't let bread, rice, and pasta back into my life! It is a slippery slope that I don't want to be on. You can do this, you have already identified the problem. Once you stop the bad carbs, you will stop craving them, and it will be easier. Maybe start a couch to 5k running program to get some decent exercise going, or start a weight lifting program a few days a week. I think the key is you need to enjoy what you are doing so you will keep at it. Start tracking your foods and measure portions if you need too and this will help also. You are not a failure. Sometimes it takes several stumbles before we can walk without falling. You can get back up and run though. -

Wow, I have never heard about that. I am sorry you are struggling with past injuries. Getting injured has been a big fear of mine since starting exercise after such a long time of just walking. My opinion is that you should definitely listen to your body and don't push too hard. Maybe seeing a PT would be a good thing as they would likely be able to design a program for you that would be safe and not aggravate your hips or shoulder. -

@Newme17 do you have a fitness tracker like Fitbit or Apple Watch? That would be a good way to keep track and it would give you a baseline of your daily activity. -

Ok, well I hope it is just that and starting back on a regular pill vitamin will correct it for you. I agree that everything we do in a day adds up. I have a very active job in the summer time with a lot of field work. On days i am in the field my watch tells me I have burned 500 calories sometimes. I don't know how accurate it is, but the trends don't lie. Havea great day!! -

Congrats on the weight loss @Newme17. I think you did great! What did your Doc say about the tingling sensation? Are you going to get blood work to check your vitamin levels? -
I would measure your food out using a scale if you are worried about eating to large a portion. I weight out 4oz and then I know exactly how much I am eating. If it is a dense protein I can't always eat all of it and that's fine. I just re weigh the plate and I know how much I ate.

Cottage cheese also works well for this stage. I still eat it now and I am on solid foods. Also try the ricotta bake it is very good.
