So sorry that happened to you. I think pasta is a food that should maybe never be eaten post-surgery. It just fills our sleeves up with no real nutrition. Try zucchini noodles instead once you are approved for soft foods. They taste great and you wont even miss the pasta.

May 15th, 2017 Sleevers Check in Here!!!

I have been taking Bariactric Fusion Chewables twice a day. They are supposed to be a complete supplement, meaning I don't have to take anything else. I can't wait to get my level checked next month to see how I am doing. -

You are rocking those shorts!! You look great! When I eat fruits I eat berries because they have the least impact on my blood sugar. To be honest I havent tried to re-introduce any others yet since surgery. -
I always weigh my portions and I never serve myself more then 3oz of protein and 1 oz of vegetables. This really helps and also eating slowly. By limiting my portions right off the bat I don't have to worry about eating that one bite too many.

How much are you eating?
Apple1 replied to TooneyNinosMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you keeping track of your protein consumption? At this point getting your protein and water in is the most important. I was able to get 50-60g of protein in at 3 weeks. I was probably consuming 400 calories +-. It is a good idea to use a food tracker app and weigh your food. This way you will be able to show your doc/nut exactly what you have been eating and there will be a record for you to look at. Are you drinking protein shakes? At 3 weeks I was still using a shake a day to help bump up my protein levels. -

Anyone noticing their nails are getting weaker. Mine keep splitting and are looking thin. I am taking my vitamins so I am not sure why? -
If you are following your doc/nuts plan don't worry the weight will come off. We are all individuals and will lose at the pace our bodies want to. Stalls are common along the way so if it stresses you out when the scale doesn't go down I would suggest to weigh less often. Your body is healing right now. You will lose if you stick to the plan. Try to relax and enjoy the journey.

Weight Stand Still
Apple1 replied to chamilton0323's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
research the 3 week stall. It is very common, and it wont be the last stall either. Your body needs time to catch up and even when the scale is not dropping you are most likely losing inches. Did your doc or nut talk about stalls at all? I am curious because this questions pops up everyday and a bunch of us were wondering if doctors weren't telling their patients. -
Why do we fall off the wagon? & How to get back on?
Apple1 replied to bostonmama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
How many calories are you consuming daily? Do you track your foods? How many carbs and protein are you eating? Are you drinking at least 64oz or more water daily? I think we need more information to offer advice. Did you follow your doctors plan? Exercise can be walking or non-impact in a pool, it doesn't have to be stressful to the body. I am sorry you haven't lost weight, but maybe you still can if you change some things. -
I have to agree with this. I tried a low carb tortilla that had a good amount of protein 6g, and it was way too filling for my sleeve. I will try again in 6 months.

You are being very smart. Do it now so by the time y'all are 50 you can retire. My dh will have to retire from the military in 4 years at age 60. So we took advantage of the extra money he made during deployment to help pay stuff off and sold what we didn't need. The goal was to be completely debt free when he retires, I hope we can get the house and roof paid in the next few years and then we will be free. I want him to be able to really retire and not have to look for part-time employment. It is scary contemplating a drop in income, and I wish we would have started saving more when we were younger. Quicken is good at forecasting, YNAB is designed more for helping you to see how your budget is working today. I couldn't live without it. There are so many budget programs out there, as long as you are using something, you are way ahead of the game. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.....lol.. -

I think it is awesome @Newme17. Ha Ha, we sold my hubby's silverado 3 years ago and paid cash for a used volvo suv. No more truck payments and the volvo gets a little better gas mileage. He misses his truck, but we don't miss the payments. We finally cut the cord with the cable company. We have our roku and got direct tv now the new streaming service. We will save $55 a month doing this. If it was just me I wouldn't even have the direct tv streaming, but my dh loves soccer and he can't watch the games without it. It sounds like you and your hubby are rocking it!! We did many of the same things you all are doing now back in 2014 when my dh came back from a 12 month deployment in Afghanistan. Check out the budget software YNAB. It is great and I have been using it for years. -

I'm seriously getting pissed off with my stall
Apple1 replied to ayanna_vsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe try to change it up on different days. Like 1000 calories 30g carb, then 1200 cal 35g carb then 1100 cal 30g carb. For me 50 g of carb would have my body storing fat. I know it is different for everyone so if this doesn't apply to you just ignore my advice. -
Why do we fall off the wagon? & How to get back on?
Apple1 replied to bostonmama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree. This was exactly the point I was trying to get across in a different thread yesterday. Stop spending so much time worrying about whats for dinner and feed your body what it needs to remain healthy and reach your goals. We all know what we need to do! -

That moment you decided things had to change.
Apple1 replied to Navigating the Wilderness's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thinking about this is very emotional for me. The moment I knew I had to do something about my weight and my health was the moment I was losing my best friend, my mom. Last October she suffered a major stroke, it was her third stroke, she was on life support and the doctor said she would not wake up. my mom had, HBP, type 2 diabetes, and arthritis. She was obese most of her adult life. I was following along that same path already having the diabetes. I want to be here for my grandchildren and I want to live a active healthy life. -

I bought some exercise capris and tops also. I bought two sports bras and I thought the extra large would fit, but they are super tight. I hate women's sizing. It is never true. I bought the bras on Amazon and went by their sizing charts... I learned a lesson, don't by clothes without trying them on. I am in between like 3 sizes depending on which brand.. either L, XL, or XXL! I don't have to dress up for work either. Jeans and a top works, so at least I have enough to last me for a while. I am afraid to shop for a bathing suit, but I definitely need one. -
