Lost 40 pounds in two weeks

You look fabulous. Keep up the great work!!
  2. I am getting a dexa scan and my RMR tested next Thursday. I think this will help me determine where my calories should be in maintenance. I am a bit obsessive with tracking my food intake and I was hoping I could start to eventually wean myself from having to do this. I don't overeat. I can put 5 oz of food on my plate and I still only eat 4oz. I think I need to keep tracking until I have reached goal and maintained for a couple of months and then re-evaluate. I am more afraid of not eating enough.

I am on chapter 14 of "How Not To Die" by Dr. Michael Greger. I don't understand why more people are not eating a whole foods plant based diet. I know if you really wanted to tear apart the research and find flaws you could, but the weight of the evidence is so clear. The health benefits are so many, with almost zero negative side effects. Keep an eye on your B-12 and iron and that is about it. The incidence of protein deficiency in this country is almost nil so that isn't an issue at all. I wish I had paid more attention to this when I was younger. I might have avoided type 2 diabetes and weight gain all together. I don't miss meat, and I am happy to stay away from sugar and processed junk. I was a cheese junkie, and I don't even miss cheese. There are so many new foods to taste and try. I don't think you could ever get bored eating this way.
  4. I was just there this past May and my dh and I felt very safe. We walked around near the Pueblo Amigo hotel where we stayed and did not feel uncomfortable at all. The valets take real good care of you so you don't even have to go out alone if you don't want to.
  5. I just saw on the news and PMd you. Praying for all of you to stay safe and not suffer any major damage. I am so sorry you are dealing with this right now. I can only imagine the traffic 😒 Update us when you have time. Prayers🙏
  6. I actually used to be taller. All of my adult life I was telling people I was 5'9", and then about 3 years ago my gp measured it and said 5"8. I made the nurse do it twice because I didn't believe her. So I either shrank or was just always mistaken lol..

I did check around and I found one University offering this type of service. The cost was $15 more and it was further away. So I booked my appointment this morning For 8/31. I am excited to find out just how much lean muscle versus fat my body has and my RMR.
  8. OMG.. no !! 119 would have me looking like one of those anorexic models. I can't imagine weighing that little at my height and frame. I would rather lose down to 150 and bounce back to 160. We shall see what happens soon enough because it feels like time is flying by. Is it really a guarantee that everyone will regain 10%? I know some do, but I thought it more like a 5-10 pound bounce, which is fine by me. I can't see myself gaining much with the way I eat and exercise.
  9. Well for the first time in almost 3 weeks the scale didn't go down today ..whew.. I thought I was melting and it was making me a little worried. 8/7- 181 8/24-170.5 Yesterday I logged 1005 calories, but that was with the extra shake before bed. I didnt run though so I think that was good. I ran 3.2 miles this morning so I am going to shoot for 1200 today if I can.
  10. OMG. That is funny. LOL... @Berry78 you seem like the fun stuff just finds you somehow.

I found a place about a 30 minute drive from my work that uses what they call a bodpod to scan you. It isn't cheap though. It will cost me about $130 for the scan and RMR testing. I am thinking about having done though. I am going to talk to my dh and see what he says.
  12. I know what you mean about liking a good storm. I love the thunder, but hate losing power. I hope you just get a storm but no damage. Where is SA? my mind is drawing a blank tonight. I went to church tonight. Just got home and I am tired. Headed to bed soon. I hope everyone had a blessed day.
  13. That is amazing you are smaller now than you were then. Congrats!!
  14. Good idea. I will have to see when I get to 160. I think my vision is distorted a little because I am so used to seeing the fat me. I need to get used to being smaller and normal again. It feels like it happened so fast.
  15. Congrats!!! I know I was so happy when I was only overweight and no longer obese. You are doing awesome 😊
  16. That calculator is cool. You were pretty dang close. It will be interesting to see if you or the calculator are right. I am going to be happy at 160 though and will try to level off in the 155-160 range.
  17. I think you will be working this out soon enough. I am going to blaze the trail so to speak...lol. I do think the running is keeping my metabolism high.
  18. What makes you think my new set point will be 130? That is what I weighed the year I graduated high school 😂. for some reason I think it will be higher but closer to 150. That is the weight that I maintained most of my adult life in between having my kids. I was still very skinny at that weight a size 2-4. I think i look too skinny when i see old photos, but maybe my perceptions have changed?
  19. That sounds like a healthy snack. I have never tried them, but maybe I should.
  20. I didn't see an increase in my blood sugar when I was eating low carb. My point was the only reason eating low carb controlled my bs was because I was not giving my body any carbs to process. The root cause of my insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes was not cured by eating this way, the symptom ( high bs) was controlled. I was referring to developed insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes not any other type of diabetes. I am blessed that mine has been cured with this surgery so I don't really have to worry about it now. I still use my meter to keep an eye on my bs levels, but they have been excellent. I was 3 months post op on Aug 15th. I do think drinking an extra shake will work until I am able to eat more. I certainly don't want to stretch my stomach ( if that is even possible). I have started adding more nuts to my snacks so that should help. Thank you.

Where do you get the dexa scans? I want to get my BMR tested and I would love to get a dexa scan also.
  22. Thank you for the helpful information @Introversion. I hadn't considered that my body will keep trying to reach its new set point. I could hold off on some of my fitness goals, but I don't really want to, you know what I mean? I know I can drink more calories and if that is what I have to do then, I am ok with that in the short term. I am going to look into getting my BMR tested so I will have a good baseline to work from.
  23. I feel so good eating this way though. I don't feel deprived at all in fact as I am finding out, it is hard to eat enough calories. I never thought I would have this problem.
  24. I am getting ample amounts of protein. Usually 50-60g. As my distanves increase I will have to reevaluate my levels and calorie intake. That is why I am asking questions now. Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful answers. my goal weight will put me at a healthy BMI and I will be rather skinny lol. It is funny becaus I haven't thought of myself as skinny in a long time😊
