The thing is everyone is worried about protein, protein, but really as long as you are eating a WFPB diet, avoiding most processed foods (not eating junk and sugar) , your body will take care of itself. Honestly I am getting to the point where I am ready to stop worrying about my macro balances. I know I am eating as healthy as I can and I am improving my variety of whole plant based foods every week. Yes there may be weeks where I am deficient in one mineral, vitamin, or whatever, but over time it will all balance out.

I believe organic non-gmo soy or tofu is ok. I wouldn't eat it by the pound everyday, but a few servings a week is fine based on the research I did. If you don't have a gluten allergy then seiten is also great. I don't have a wheat allergy and from the research I have done it really isn't as common as we are lead to believe.

Best way to Stop Losing Weight

I love the way your mind works @Berry78. You have a talent for figuring these sort of things out. You should be a life coach. I said the same thing to @Newme17. Thanks so much for your input. -

That is awesome. I was pleased with my results also. It will be interesting to see if and when I am able to actually consume 1700 calories, if my weight levels off. -

You will be in Onderland soon!!!! I agree before 4 months. I am so happy for you @Newme17. I am so back and forth about the tummy tuck. My daughter thinks I look fine and don't need any TT or even a breast lift. I will see at the one years mark. I don't want another surgery if I can avoid it, but I do want to feel and look my best, but not too vain??? I just don't know..lol... -

I spoke to my brother yesterday and they are ready to ride out the storm. He sounded pretty confident they would be ok. He lives near the Sanford airport and he said because of that they always get their power back quickly. Many gas stations are out of gas and he said all the bottled water is gone. My dh's family are ready also. I am scared for all of them after watching what Harvey did to Texas. This is a strong storm!!! -
I really like his videos and I have watched almost all of them.

Best way to Stop Losing Weight
Apple1 replied to Apple1's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have never measured... I know I know I should have...lol... I do think I have dropped inches during the periods of no loss. What I find interesting now is I don't seem to bounce as much. I have been 168-168.3 for the past 4 days. My weight is more steady now. I think it is because I am so regular ... -
Best way to Stop Losing Weight

I think it is so very interesting how everyone's weight loss journey is so different and individual. Some people lose all their weight quickly, others take longer, some just walk, some run, some do weights. some nothing at all. How long do you have to be at the same weight to really be in a stall? I have had two time periods where I was the same weight or bouncing back and forth for longer than 2 weeks. Both times I started losing again by 3 weeks. However I have had time periods where I was doing that for 7-10 days and then started losing again. Is there a defined time period before it classifies as a stall? @Berry78 what say you? I wonder because if I was only weighing once per month I might not even notice these "stalls" at all. This is why I like to weigh daily. I want the weekly data points. -
Best way to Stop Losing Weight

There are several vets that have been actively losing for 15-24 months so I believe it is possible with the sleeve to keep losing. Maybe drop down to 1200 and see if you start losing again. I am very happy with where my weight is right now, but I am not yet at a normal BMI and having had my body composition done I know I still need to lose some more fat. I am very satisfied eating in the 1100-1200 calories range so I am going to stay here and see if I can lose another 10 pounds to get a little under 160. I can't imagine that as I keep increasing my running mileage that my body will hold on to this level of fat. -
It starts with Insulin Resistance & ends with a Train Ride with no stops!

Wow what a wonderful story. You are doing so great!! -
everyone is different. These rules were designed for the average patient and if you follow them you will more than likely avoid issues. Some people can eat a little faster without issues. I have found it depends on what I am eating. Yogurt- 5 minutes and done no problem. Salad or dense protein must slow down and chew thoroughly or I will feel pain in my chest after eating. I will occasionally drink a sip of water halfway through a meal, but just a sip. The problem with drinking and eating is that it will cause the food to pass through your stomach faster and you could overeat. It is better to just not do it unless you really have to.

At 3.5 months post-op I have found it pretty easy to transition. I am still eating some dairy, but have not consumed any meat in about 2 weeks now. I think until you are on solid foods it may be difficult, but I don't know. I am happy if I get anywhere from 45-55g of protein. I figure I am healed and that number is working for me. A protein shake for breakfast helps a lot. I am eating salad almost everyday because the leafy greens are so healthy!! I usually have a serving of whole grain at dinner with some beans, or tofu, veggies, ect... For a snack some times peanut butter on a couple of whole grain crackers, a serving of fruit, or a protein bar if I feel like I am running low. I really want to eliminate cheese once and for all. I have only eaten it 2 times in 3 weeks so it is slowly leaving.

An observation and a question for all the veggie heads. Since switching my diet to WFPB I have become super regular, like 3 times a day regular 😂 I have also noticed the amount of bounce on the scale has gone way down. Before I used to go up and down 1-2 pounds while in a holding pattern. Now the number only seems to vary by .3 and so far 3 -4 days is the longest before dropping 1-2 pounds. Has anyone else noticed this?

Emotional Eating/Coping Mechanisms
Apple1 replied to CJ Sunshine's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree with this method. Running is my stress relief and time to just think about everything and be in my own little zone. If I have to miss a day I don't like it now. -
That was my first time making a dish with tofu! I read a bunch of the reviews to see what advice was given. Freezing the tofu after slicing it was one of the tips everyone said makes the texture so much better. I froze them for 2-3 hours and it turned out perfect. There is an online WFPB cooking class put on my Forks over Knives that I would love to take. I might do it sometime, but the cost is a little much right now.

Yes don't wait. Call and ask if you can take something OTC and ask which one to buy. There is a lot of acid in our new stomachs and no reason for you to suffer with it.

That looks good. I don't think I have ever had feta cheese..lol.. I have been having a whole wheat pasta of some sort once a week, and it is delicious, but really filling. I have had to cut back on how much I make because I can only eat about 3-4 bites like you. I know what you mean about work. I have been bored with it for the past year. My research project is in a holding pattern because my supervisor retired 2 years ago and they haven't replaced him. With the federal hiring freeze in place we have no idea when they will hire someone so we just sit around not really doing any new research just maintaining our insect cultures... I have great benefits and a good retirement plan so at my age I'm not looking to leave, but it is hard to just stagnate. Maybe you would make a good lifestyle coach. I think you would be good at something like that. Helping people make healthy positive changes in their lives. Have a great day and be blessed! -

It is looking more like it will hit Florida😞 My brother and my dh family all live in central Florida near Orlando. They said this is going to be the strongest one yet cat 5+ I really hope it turns. Praying for everyone on the islands. -
I wonder why some docs aren't giving a prescription for the acid blocker? I had my surgery in Mexico and I was started on one the same day after I got back to my room. I was told to just buy the otc omeprazole when I got back to the states. It really does make a difference.
-
That happens when I eat to fast or if I try to finish that last bite. I only ever serve myself 4 oz but sometimes even 4oz can be too much. You will figure it out soon enough.
-
I would be seriously worried about a blood pressure that high? Are you taking BP meds? What did your pop say about your BP? Sorry you feel like you are not getting the support you need. I hope you get to feeling better.
-
Definitely talk to your doctor about how he made you feel. I am 5'8" and I weighed 208 on the day I had surgery. I had tyoe 2 diabetes and was one step away from needing insulin to control it. I ended up going to Mexico to get my surgery and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. My diabetes is in remission and I feel better then I have in years. Lower BMI should not prevent you from having access to such a life changing surgery.
