Improvement in cracked heels!
Apple1 replied to Berry78's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have rosecea on my nose. It has been much better since surgery with fewer instances of outbreaks. Stress makes it worse. I am currently having an outbreak, but I have had fewer lately. -

May 15th, 2017 Sleevers Check in Here!!!

He has extended family still living in Lima. Mostly Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. All of his siblings are living in Florida. If we moved there it would be to somewhere near Cuzco. Lima is too crazy for me They drive like maniacs. My dh has dual citizenship so it would be easy for us if we wanted to. Just to give you an idea of how inexpensive it is. We could live very nicely on $1000 dollars a month. It is just an idea though. -
Why do protein drinks taste awful?
Apple1 replied to Véronique's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I really like the Chike High Protein Coffee Mocha flavor. I use two scoops with 12oz of unsweetned chocolate almond milk and 3-4 ice cubes. Throw it is the blender and It is not bad at all. I drink one everyday for breakfast. -
This sounds like fun. I start training for a half marathon on Monday. I would love to participate.

Apple1 replied to Doo Lally's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions

This is one of those forks in the road decisions. All I can say is get on your knees and the good Lord will let you know what you should do. Washington is a beautiful state. It has a temperate rain forest so if you are in that area be ready for the rainy season. You would experience much more temperature change with the seasons for sure. This must be exciting for you guys!!! My dh and I have been talking about where we should live in retirement. We have considered living in Peru because the cost is so much cheaper then anywhere in the US. My main problem with that is being so far from my family!! So I don't know if we would ever move. Still thinking. -
That menu sounds yummy. I love Thai food!! I have a recipe for both a Thai red and green curry that I am going to try soon. Both of my adult children are meat eaters ..lol..they learned from their parents. Since I have done this before over the years for short periods of time, I am sure they both think this is temporary. I haven't even suggested they should join us. I am just going to wait and see if our example gets them asking more questions and then I will share. I think waiting until someone asks questions or shows an interest is a good plan.

I am going through a kind of similar situation with my dh. He would like to lose 20 lbs and get his cholesterol down low enough to get off his medication. He really isn't that overweight as he is stocky and muscular. I have been doing similar things as you. I prepare our meals and he has been joining me for runs on Sundays now. the only other thing I can suggest is to have his RMR tested so you can be sure of the calorie deficit.

You must feel amazing now!! It looks really good. I am so inspired by your journey. -
I have used both the freezing and the bake the cubes in the oven method..lol.. Both turned out equally well. I have seen some recipes call for pan frying, but I have avoided that method because I figured it would add the most fat to the meal. I like tofu and the only thing I would recommend is to buy organic non-gmo.

Welcome @TheMrsV. We are all learning here. I have been transitioning over to a WFPB diet for almost 4 weeks now. It is definitely trial and error as I learn a new style of cooking. I am fortunate To be far enough post op that I can eat most anything and I am Doing fine with protein levels. Most days I am hitting 45-55g. Some days I even hit 60g. The thread starter @Newme17 was the person that got me started on researching a healthy diet. I am thankful.

Counting weight loss from pre-op vs. Post-op

I do both. I count from my highest till surgery, then from surgery till now. Every pound lost was hard won and we should count them!! -
Best way to Stop Losing Weight
Apple1 replied to Apple1's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think this is why we should have a regular exercise schedule. Most people don't. We get up and go to work everyday because it is a priority even a necessity to survive. in our lives. I think taking care of our bodies needs to have the same importance in our lives. I think this is one of the biggest changes for me post-op. I am making my health a priority. -
I think this really depends on how strong your relationship was before surgery. My husband is my rock and my best friend. We are in it till death do us part.

Tofu broccoli, snap peas, and carrot stir fry. I used a stir fry sauce that is low sodium and only 3G of sugar per serving. It was delicious. I think I am learning how to do tofu. My dh was a happy camper 😊

By the time this started happening I would be starving. I am not and don't plan to be any time soon...lol.. I know we can become fat adapted and burn fat for fuel while running. I have read up on some of that. I run in the morning so that I will burn fat and that is why I run slow most of the time. However, I have no further desire to eat a low carb diet. Burning carbs for fuel is a natural process that our bodies were designed to do. So I'll just let my body keep doing what it is doing well. If I ever have a problem again with my BS then I'll reevaluate.

I went back and read through the beginning of this thread up till about one month post -op. It seems so long ago and yet it wasn't. We have all come so far. -
Don't worry @Berry78. I guess I could have worded that better than I did. I start my day out with a shake which is 20g protein so that gives me a jump everyday. I guess I just want to eat food, healthy food, and not protein, or a fat, or a carb, you get me? I do plan my meals out roughly for the week and I am still tracking, but I am not stressing about being down 10g of protein one day.Or I should say I don't want to stress about that because honestly I feel good.
