  1. 🎉👏😄 Congrats to you @Newme17 I am so happy for you.
  2. Oh ok. I am sorry to hear that, but glad you didn't have any complications. Have you been following your diet plan? Why do you think you haven't lost any weight?
  3. What do you mean by not successful? Did you have complications or just not lose the weight you had hoped to lose?
  4. I'm Not sure 🤔. I did not got to the beach while in Mexico, but I did go to Mission beach in San Diego before flying back to the east coast 😄 We went to a food/flea market and also to Caesar's for lunch one day.

I saw that one also. What I loved about Plant Pure Nation is the actual showing of the improvement after only 10 days on those that participated in the studies. I also appreciated seeing just how much the government is motivated by the food industry and not what is best for our health. I knew this already but seeing it in action in real time really shows that we have to do our own research.
  6. That looks delicious 😋. Thanks for the link to more recipes. You could never get bored eating this way.
  7. I need to make some treats. It has been a long time since I have had anything yummy like banana cookies or bread. Do your cookies just have oats, cinnamon, and banana? If so that sounds like a very vegan recipe😄 Congrats on the no oil @Newme17 Your banana bread look very 😋 yummy.

100 miles in 100 days fitness challenge

    15 miles for this week😄
  10. I am getting ready to go for a run this morning. It will be my first time at this distance 4.5 mi. My training plan has me gradually increasing my long runs and next Sunday I will be doing 6.0. I know I can do this. I am ready, it is exciting, but if I am honest it is also little intimidating seeing all of these dates on my calendar with 3.0-8.5 mi runs for the next 3 months. Gone are the quick 2 mile runs. I will need to get up a little earlier if I am going to be able to do a 4+ run during the week before work. I am proud of myself :) I never dreamed I would be a runner. My dh is joining me now on Sunday runs and it is great that we can do this together.

It was the end of June so I would say 5-6 weeks post-op. I was walking and using my elliptical before that. I started with a run/walk C25K program first. When I got to the point that I could run 2 miles without walking I just went out and ran 4-5 days a week increasing my distance a little each week. Once I conquered the 5K (3.2mi) distance I decided to train for a half marathon taking place in April 2018. I would ask your doctor just to be sure.

  11. That looks so good!!! I am going to make it soon. My dh is a big sweet potato fan. The recipe calls for yellow sweet potatos. I don't think I have ever seen those. I will use what I have and I bet it will still be good. It is 49 F this morning so soup weather is officially here lol
  12. Crazyness😲 My boobs aren't getting smaller either. The good thing is mine are only a c-d cup. I had to buy a couple new ones because the old ones just weren't cutting it.

Day 16 has not been easy

I agree. I don't know why some plans have people eating solids as soon as 1 week? Why would you even risk this? Crazy.

I finished listening to the Cheese Trap by Dr. Neal Barnard and I am now listening to the revised edition of The China Study. I think once I get through with this one I will have educated myself fairly completely on the best diets for health, longevity, and disease prevention. My diet is still a work in progress, but most of the time I am 95% compliant to WFPB.
  15. I made Thai green curry tonight: 1 medium sweet potatoe diced small 8-10 baby red potatoes halved green beans sliced ( as many as you want) 1 large clove garlic diced 1/2 " ginger diced 1 jar Thai Kitchen green curry paste zest of 1 lime juice of half of lime 1 can of unsweetened coconut milk 3/4 cup water cilantro to garnish heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a pan add the garlic and ginger. Simmer for one minute add the curry paste stir and simmer 1 minute. Add the onion and potatoes, sweet potatoesstir and lime zest and cook for 5 minutes, add the coconut milk and water. Simmer stirring frequently. Add green beans after about 5 minutes depending on how done you prefer them. Simmer for on low for about 15 minutes. Add the lime juice and cilantro. Serve over a bowl of brown rice.

@Berry78 thank you for posting that graph. It appears to show what I have always thought. As long as your weight falls in the normal BMI category you lower your risk for cardiovascular disease. I might decide my stretch goal will be 150 which would put me safely in the middle. Do you have a link to the paper? You amaze me at how resourceful you are in finding information.

Me too. I did the bod pod measure of body fat and the RMR. I really want a dexa scan. I am looking for somewhere near by to get it done.

I think that is a problem with BMI in general. But it is a good point.

Full disclosure I look at a lot of graphs and data sets in my line of work. My major was Entomology with a minor in Wildlife Conservation. My research is on Asian longhorn beetles, and biological control of invasive wood boring beetles. Don't feel bad, Graphs can be a pain to decipher especially without the accompanying text.

I would have to read the methods of the paper or the discussion section. Anything I would say would be a guess. First thing that comes to mind is some outliers in the data set.
  22. Dr.Illan was my surgeon and I highly recommend him and Bariactric Pal.
  23. I had a hysterectomy in 2015 and I haven't had an annual since then.. I guess I should even though my uterus and ovaries are gone.
  24. OMG, you had quite the night. So sorry you had to go to the ER, but glad you got checked out. Does the doctor think the bladder infection was the cause of your pain?

When I look at that graph I see a difference of about .2 between the category BMI 18.5-20.4 and the 22.0-23.4 for men. It starts to go up at about 25. Considering the BMI Dr. McDougall recommends spans both of those categories I would say it is close enough to be almost the same. When I look at women I see a relatively flat line from 18.5 all the way to 25 so again I can't see a difference worth noting. Are you seeing something I'm not?
