August Sleevers-How are you doing??
KNJScorpio replied to Ash_Bri85's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ugh, I'm having this issue too LOL. 6 days out and I feel like I have to force myself to to pee, but if I didn't I wouldn't go :(. Right now I'm struggling with energy. Saturday I was full of energy, yesterday I was dead on my feet and today I'm somewhere in between. I really think I'm trying to hard to get back to normal too quickly. -

Surgery yesterday and sipping liquids hurts. Normal?
KNJScorpio replied to Kristen117's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Burping, hiccups, cough... It all still hurts me (4 days out) but getting better. I found that if I take too big of a sip I can feel the liquid going all the way down and that's uncomfortable. But with my experience, I am going through the same thing you are. -

Sleeved on the 29th. I actually brought my own teddy bear my mom had gotten from City of Hope for her cancer surgery, same concept. All my nurses loved it LOL. He really helped a lot, I agree. I'm doing good. At home, very slowly getting protein and water in. The pain in my right side hasn't gone away and the gas pain is intense, but otherwise, up and walking. I have lost some of the bloat I came home with. So far, so good... Hopefully it continues this way. Oh, and I sleep on my left side. With a pillow, it's nice and comfy. I did have to come home with oxygen, but luckily, it's not too bad. -
Under 7 days jitters / anxiety pre-op
KNJScorpio replied to Rs226's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Right there with you! My surgery is on the 29th and I am having major anxiety today. I know it will be okay but just the idea of such a life changing thing coming up so quickly is making me freak out. BUT... I'm also excited. I'm glad I have to work today to keep my mind occupied but I don't know what I'm going to do the next few days before surgery LOL. -
I keep hearing that LOL. The band around the stomach probably is uncomfortable. Thank you! Luckily, I have a sweet tooth. But I know all that can change after surgery...

Today I "pre-checked in" and paid my co-payment for my hospital stay, having surgery on August 29th. Any advice on what things I should put in my hospital bag? I'm bringing: Phone Phone charger Headphones PJ's Underwear Chapstick Toothpaste/brush Also, any must haves for my liquid phase when I get home? Or things that just helped? Any advice would be great! Thanks!

I had to do a 1400 calorie diet but didn't really have restrictions. I didn't have to cut out carbs or do liquids. I have my surgery next Tuesday and the two days before I have to do liquids Sunday and Monday, but that's it. I like it, I am using the time to make sure I remember portion control and curve cravings as much as possible but don't beat myself up if I slip.

How much do you exercise per week?
KNJScorpio replied to Angel11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do 3 - 4 days a week. I mix it up: Two mile walk with the dogs, Zumba, and swimming are my favorites. Anywhere between 45 and 60 minutes each time. -
Chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia & VSG outcome?
KNJScorpio replied to Naturelover's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have also had the same diagnosis and I really hope that the surgery will help. I have never been "thin" and hope that taking off my extra weight will help. I am scheduled for August 29th. This week I had a bad flare up and I just hate it :(. -

How long did the process take for you?
KNJScorpio replied to PTundra6's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Kaiser. After my referral I went to their Bariatric Options orientation then signed up for the Options 12 week course. The course was 12 weeks of learning how to eat well, emotional health, exercise, vitamins... Things like that. Then after the 12 week course I saw their bariatric doctor who referred me to a surgeon. I did a lot of blood work and tests in that time, the surgeon required three more tests and once it was done he approved me for surgery. I am scheduled for August 29th which is just over six months from when I started. I probably would have had the surgery earlier but my doctor is on vacation from Aug 3 - 27th. So I will get it right after he comes back! -

I am having part of the same problem as you are. My doctor has me on a 1400 calorie diet and I am hungry all the time, too. I *am* losing weight but very slowly (though, I'm lucky because I wasn't required to lose weight, he just wanted me to "try" to lose 5 to 10 pounds before August 29th). But I feel you. It's hard to adjust down to lower calories, feeling hungry and it's frustrating when the scale goes up or doesn't move! I am going to take this time to learn to curve cravings, myself. And learn what high protein foods fill me up. Eggs really help (not egg whites, but one whole egg) and salmon does a great job, too. I hope we can both get through this so we can get on to the next phase! Good luck!
