I need to be on a 3 different types of psych medications that cause weight gain! I didn't want to take them, but my sanity and health depends on them and I was taking one of them before surgery. I have asked for similar medications that don't have the weight gain side effect and it seems like there are none that would take care of my symptoms. So I've been taking these. As a result, my weight loss has been very slow and compared to others minimal! I am at 13 months post op and have already gained 6 lbs after starting my last medication which was a month ago! Now, I'm not saying I have been perfect, but I don't think I've ate so bad as to have gained 6 lbs! I'm ashamed to tell anyone, but I'm sure they can tell themselves! I have already stopped taking one of the medications that causes weight gain because it really wasn't helping my symptoms much. There are 2 other medications I take that cause weight gain but since these are in my system long term, I am afraid to stop taking them and seriously doubt my doctor would approve. I'm afraid of not taking them too. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow, but I doubt anything will come out of it. There aren't many weight neutral psych medications! and it's already been difficult to get me stable so since these meds work for my condition, I doubt that my doctor will change them. And quite frankly, I am afraid to try other things since like I said, it took a long time and many trial and errors for me to become emotionally stable. My weight loss surgeon said the meds makes it harder to lose, but they have actually caused a weight gain! He gave me phentermine to help, but it's been two weeks on them and I see no difference! My eating hasn't changed much from when I was losing. I still exercise daily and stay away from starchy food. I haven't been consistent with logging food, which I started doing again yesterday. I'm 10 lbs away from my goal but I am not hopeful that I can lose these last 10 lbs. and I'm afraid of gaining more weight if I continue taking these medications. I feel defeated and feel like a failure because of the 6 lbs I've gained back. Has anyone been in this situation? What did you do? Please share your experience if you have had similar issues. Thank you

13 Months Out and Gaining Weight
tnks2hp replied to Walter.Sobchak's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Walter thank you for the short version of the reset diet 🙂 I will try it! I went to my appointment with my surgeon yesterday for my one year post op appointment and he said that at my current weight, I have far exceeded his expectations, and he showed me a bunch of numbers! He said if I want to lose 10 more pounds, he can give me phentermine for a short time and referred me to a nutritionist. So I started the medication today! I exercise rigorously so I know it's that I'm eating more than I should and stop eating anything bad for me. Sometimes I think my whole hunger is back. Then I start tripping and thinking the doctor didn't make my stomach small enough, because he hadn't made the pouch small enough for another patient and she wasn't losing much, even though she was following the program. So she got and endoscopy done at another surgeon's office and sure enough, the pouch is not that small at all! So she is having the surgery redone, but the bummer is that the metabolic change that causes the initial massive weight loss can not be redone. She is having to do a bypass now! The doctor also said that carbs cause your blood sugar to spike and then you experience a crash which causes you to crave more carbs. It was a very good visit overall. I felt much better than I did when I went in! -

Reset Diet. I haven't tired it but I think it's an all liquid diet that sets your stomach back to a smaller size -
13 Months Out and Gaining Weight
tnks2hp replied to Walter.Sobchak's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am also 13 months out and have gained back 5 lbs! I'm petrified! I saw my doctor today and he suggested that I see a nutritionist and stay away from carbs as much as possible! Plus gave me a prescription to help aid me in reducing my appetite. I'm soooo drawn to eating lately! I don't know why all of a sudden I got the constant yearning to eat again? I'm not overeating though I still only have a little bite of something, but I have too many little bites in one day! lol -

I use splenda and it satisfies my need for sweets. Sorry about your loss. I also lost my dad 2 years ago and know it hurts. Keep your head up. You can do this. -

Chewable Vitamins making me nauseous!
tnks2hp replied to korii's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's what I have been doing. I'm taking Bariatric Multivitamins but not the chewable. I have added B-Complex since my doctor said it would help my multivitamin. Did he tell you to the the extra Calcium Citrate because your vitamins are not chewable? -
Chewable Vitamins making me nauseous!
tnks2hp replied to korii's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been unable to have chewable vitamins due to getting sick from them! Chalky! I don't know how far out you are, but in my case, the doctor said it was ok to take regular vitamins as long as I cut them in half and suplemment them with B-Complex. I found one Calcium chewable that's taffy and tastes good. It's from Bariatric Fusion berry flavor chewables. So I have mainly been taking pills instead of chewables. I'm 4 months post op. -
So far nobody has responded! I have noticed that the majority of people I know from my support group are younger. That's why I posted here!

I am 53 and had my sleeve 9/11/17. I went into menopause at 45 years old. I began having hot flashes, that were mild but they would come and go. Since surgery, even though it's winter now, I am always hot! I get cold when I don't wear heavy cloths and I get hot if I do wear something warmer. I currently weight 170 lbs, and have lost 40 lbs. I now have hot flashes a lot more than before. I used to think my weight loss would help, but it hasn't so far. I have heard of people getting cold after they loose weight, but for some reason, for me it hasn't worked out that way. Did anyone experience something similar? How did you go about resolving it? Or if anyone knows how to can stop it!!!?

I have been experiencing some mild nausea in the mornings and no I am not pregnant! I wonder if I still need to heal more? I eat cream of wheat with protein and water in the mornings, but some days like today, I can't go to the gym because I feel nauseas and a feel heavy in my stomach. Do any of you have with these symptoms post op after 6 weeks? Also if you can suggest something other than prescription medication. Should I even take something or should I let it pass?
