Hey TXTammy (to differentiate from JerseyTammy )! Mikey's & my fills are 4 weeks apart. That seems to be long enough for them to settle in & decide just how much they're going to restrict us. My 2nd fill did take a week to kick in -- weird experience. And now it seems to be backing off again, so maybe it was hormonal swelling. But yeah, I'd think that end of May or sometime in June should do the trick for you! Hang in there, it really does get easier when your fill is working harder! And good job on starting the exercise! You'll be ahead of the game if you do! A few of us have a "no chocolate" pact... you're welcome to join if you'd like! Welcome back from vacation, Michelle! Glad you had fun! And you're just in time to kick it into high gear! :rant: Glad you're joining us for the race! And how is everyone doing this morning? Drinking that water? Looking for ways to increase your lifestyle activity level? Starting some exercise? I've been searching for stairs to climb so I can get another point! Heh, I might be obsessive compulsive! May Challenge for the Febsters! Ok, the point of this challenge is to kick our booties into gear. We've been at this for a couple of months now & things are getting old. Some of us have stalled on the weight loss... or we're waiting to get to the correct restriction... or we're tired of chewing... or we're just tired. So these things are aimed at focusing us on the right steps to get back in the groove. If you find any part of the challenge to not be helpful, please ignore it! We're going to track 1 week at a time, so we'll have a weekly winner and an overall winner. If you're out of town this week, say at Disney, heh, no worries, jump in when you get home! You can win one of the other weeks! And if you kick it with water & exercise you could even win overall, even coming from behind! The first week starts tomorrow, Monday, May 1st. I will post a scorecard. Everyone needs to copy / paste it into a post of their own. Each day come back in & edit your scorecard (you may want to bookmark the page with your card on it). That way we'll have daily running totals for all of us. At the end of each week I'll announce a winner for the week & the running totals for the month. You'll know if you need to start kicking it into high gear! A couple of these are subjective, so be honest with yourself! This challenge is for YOU, make it work! If you fall down one meal or one day, get up & get going! You'll have to run, but you can catch up! Challenge 1: Drinking water -- Give yourself 1 point for every 8 oz you drink. Get in your 64 oz for the day, get 8 points! Need to make up some points? Start drinking! Challenge 2: Exercise -- Give yourself 1 point for every 5 minutes of exercise. We're starting with 5 this month... next month's challenge will be higher! (Example: I exercised 45 min today = I get 9 points for today) -- This is a great way to earn extra points! Challenge 3: Eating protein -- Give yourself 1 point for meeting your protein goal for the day. Challenge 4: Multi-vitamins -- Give yourself 1 point for taking your multi-vitamin Challenge 5: Calcium -- Give yourself 1 point for taking your calcium supplement Challenge 6: Food journaling -- Give yourself 1 point for writing down everything that enters your mouth! Challenge 7: Good food choices -- This is subjective. Give yourself 1 point for each meal that you made good choices (up to 3 / day). Challenge 8: Living more active -- If you did something TODAY that made you more active (took the stairs, parked further, walked when you could have driven, etc), give yourself a point for each thing you did. Keep it up! You're changing! (Extra points are screaming to be made here!!) Challenge 9: Personal objectives -- List your daily objectives that aren't covered in other areas here. If you complete your list daily, give yourself 1 point! Example!! Janet's personal daily objectives: 1. Read my daily affirmations 3 times 2. Do one homework for therapy daily (it's a sheet we have to fill out, I hate doing them) 3. No sugar in my diet 4. Get fewer then 20g carbs daily 5. Stop taking naps so my nightly sleep is better If I do everything on the list, I get 1 point for the day. This way we can tailor the challenge to our personal needs. Challenge 10: weight lost -- Give yourself 1 point for every HALF pound lost (2 points per pound). Challenge 11: inches lost -- Give yourself 1 point for every HALF inch lost (2 points per inch). Remember, muscle weighs more but takes up less space, so measuring rocks! I personally add up all my measurements & watch the overall number go down. Sometimes 1 spot will go up (especially if it's a muscle). But overall I go down, so I still win! HINT: The more places you measure, the more you have to lose from! (I measure EVERYTHING... so I can lose from everywhere!) If you want a list of what I measure, let me know! Challenge 12: fat percentage -- If you have a scale or doctor that does fat %, give yourself 1 point for every percentage lost. Challenge 13: Bonus points -- Give yourself 1 bonus point for each perfect week of challenges 1-9. For the water, we're defining "perfect" to be at least 64 oz / day. So if you drank 64 oz+ every day for a week, give yourself 1 bonus point. Ate your protein every day for a week? Get another bonus point! Exercise at least 5 minutes every day? There's another point for you! Go for the gusto! Get a perfect week in every area!! (Total of 9 bonus points per week are possible.) HINT: You can earn extra points for extra water or exercise or active lifestyle! So you CAN come from behind! And weight/inches/fat percentage aren't the deciding factor... if you're not losing enough to keep up with someone else, do some extra exercise! (Which should help with the other part anyway!!) See you on the winner's podium!! :first: NOTE: On the scorecards, only boring fonts keep stuff in line... courier, fixedsys, etc. Sorry! Hi Gale! Welcome to LBT! You've come to the right place for opinions galore! :eek: Pre-op diets vary from doctor to doctor. Some require you to lose a certain number (like 10 pounds), some require a percentage (like 10% of your body weight), some require a time: 2 weeks of "my" diet, some require all liquid for a week or 2. It really just depends. Ours was a lo-fat, lo-carb diet for 3 weeks. We survived it... mostly, lol. The general rule of thumb for post-op exercise is walking is ok from hour 1. Nothing over 10 pounds for 10 days. Then everything's fine as long as it doesn't hurt. Some doc's have more strigent rules, but the majority seems to just look at the first 10 days. There is some adjustment to fewer calories, but weight lifting & exercising will actually help you a lot. Make sure you're getting enough Protein & be sure & tell your nutritionist that you work out -- she may need to up your calories some! The biggest thing is to communicate with your doctor's office. If you're on the pre-op & are weak, call them & let them know. They may have tips or strategies to get you through it. Keep reading here & ask any questions that come to mind! We're glad you're here!

I don't have a kid... but I could have done ok without Mikey there. On the other hand, heh, I HURT & wanted his hand to comfort me... big case of the poor me's. :eek: But if I'd known he was taking care of our children... I think I would have been fine. Especially after that first nap... then the world is a much kinder place. :eek:

Wow, congrats on your entry into his program! Sounds like you're in for a fun ride! Make sure he has a proctor there for his surgery... you definitely want him to be supervised! (Unless of course he's done 200 in some other location. :eek:) Welcome to LBT, we're glad you're here!

Hi Jen! There's a couple of threads about weight loss & PCOS as well... do a search for them. We're in TX, so I can't help you with a doctor, but I can tell you that I love my band! It's forcing me to change my attitudes & behaviors re: food. I'm not sure bypass would have done that... that's the main reason I chose the band. It's a tool... I have to work with it. Welcome to LBT, we're glad you're here! :eek:

Poor thing was hanging in there, but it was really tough, since everyone says he should be beating me & he wasn't. Then, in one fell swoop, he jumped ahead of me by 5 pounds!! Brat! Back soon with more time to spend (I hope). Gotta get the challenge written up!

My hair was blonde... um... once upon a time. Before I had friends, lol. (Went red on a dare... found out I love 1 change -- hair color!) When I went for laser treatments they had to dye my hair before the treatment, lol, so the laser could "see" it. :bananadoggywow: My "beard" is black, though... when it's not gray & springy **sigh**. (Does Aunt Ruth have a beard? Not sure, but Aunt Janet does! :Banane20:) I do have Native American blood (and a bunch of other stuff, true mutt)... wonder if that's close enough?

Surgery (anesthesia) dries out any fecal matter that's in your bowels. No matter how little you eat, there's always some fecal matter... it's a matter of waste products from living. The longer you wait, the more impacted it gets. I was hoping the MOM would do the trick for you, but after 6 days... it most likely can't get through the barrier of dryness to get to the bottom of it all & really work. I strongly recommend Ducolax suppositories. I know it sounds gross, but the longer you wait, the worse it will be. Suppositories work from the bottom up... so they'll be able to effect the impacted fecal matter. I can tell you that from my personal experience, we did a Fleet treatment pre-op, so we were as empty as we could get. I had a BM about 36 hours after surgery. We stayed overnight, but as soon as I got home I had one. Small, but it was there. I continued to have at least a small one daily. Benefiber added to my Water helped me to not have painful ones (it's tasteless & dissolves to be clear & is non-bulking). Good luck, Yoda! I don't envy you the next 24 hours! But seriously, you'll feel better if you get things to moving again!

My doctor said no strenuous exericse for the first 10 days (other then walking). Then to listen to my body... if it hurts, don't do it. I haven't done abs yet (10 weeks out), because it still hurts when I do 1 crunch. At 12 weeks I'll push through the pain, I think. Until then, I'm taking it easy & just doing other aerobic stuff. :bananadoggywow:
