Awww StrawartS, sorry the band is fighting back! Beat her down! (Heh, notice I didn't ask what you PB'd on! You should be proud of me!)

Is there any help for us vegetable haters?
JanetC replied to sleepyjean's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Spaghetti squash with butter & garlic!! Only way I can get Mikey to eat veggies. Well, that & the bagged Salsa salad (not sure what brand, but he LOVES it). Of course that has chips in it, lol, but so far he can still eat it. -
Wow Lisa!! Thanks for the warnings! I had GERD pre-band... it was such a relief to have it disappear with the band. The thought of it coming back... augh! (Makes a note to herself to quit pushing the band.) Keep us updated & take care of yourself!!!

Yeah, the country thing is throwing me for a loop. Country isn't my thing to begin with... why on earth would I want to watch an hour of it? Of course I'm going to! LOL I do kinda think it's playing to Bucky & Kellie... and throwing the others out of their element. Seems a little, um, I dunno... stacked (?) to me. At least when they do a decade there's all styles in that 10 year period. Oh well, I'm sure they'll do their best to mix it up! Anyone else started watching the Fox Reality channel? They have an "American Idol Remix" or some such. I don't know what time it's supposed to be on, I just keep catching it on the fly. We don't have Direct TV, so we don't get the pre-show. **sigh** I'm sooo addicted! And I caught that Gray's Anatomy reference! McHot hot, lol. McSteamy hot? Love that show too!

I've been keeping a pain diary for 2 days now, tracking the shoulder pain. I've got a ton of theories, lol, but no answers yet. My husband & best friend came up with the best one, lol. They said, "If you're not going to call the doctor, chalk it up to healing. Take the pain meds, quit whining, track it if ya gotta, and check back on it in 2 weeks." So wise! So that's what I'm doing. If you're interested (or bored)... details are in my blog: http://yylc.us/Janet Stacey!! Congrats on the 2 pounds! Wow! You're kicking my butt! (Not that I'm comparing, of course! LOL) So proud of you for hanging in until you get restriction! And so excited that you're feeling it!!! Woohooo!!! Becky & Michelle, lol, ya'll made me spit water out of my nose, picturing your hubbies! Hiya Xann!! You're certainly welcome to join us! LOL, we won't even make you fudge your date. Wow, you had the evaporation thingy? I just started reading about it lately, frustrating stuff! Please keep us up to date on that! Tammy: I've been wondering the same thing! I've got this stupid shoulder pain & I keep blaming my band (and I think I'm right, in this case). But what if I just pulled my shoulder? LOL. Never again will shoulder pain just be shoulder pain! Wow Tammy, that article was awesome!! It definitely is hard on both spouses. At least I'll be losing weight WITH Mikey! Heh, I know his is going to get more notice though, he's a big guy. LOL at Stacey's mom... she sounds like mine! Mine has taken to reading my blog, lol. She called me to make sure I was ok... because I hadn't updated it! Never thought I'd see the day! Nanster: Meat tenderizer? Awesome! (And very, very gross! LOL) Added to my shopping list! Welcome Sizzles! Congrats on your first fill!!

Heh. I just have to comment on the soup, not that my comment is constructive, lol. I eat soup when I'm out... so that when I forget to chew I don't damage myself TOO much! What IS it about being with people that makes me forget my rules? What I won't give up: dark chocolate (yum!), real cheese, a glass of Diet Coke a week (I let it go flat... I want the flavor). Eating out. I haven't actually had the dark chocolate yet... but it's in the cupboard, ready to go! In the past when dieting, I use the Hershey's Special Dark chocolate chips & get 2-5 a day, depending on my mood. So far the mood hasn't struck me... I'm going with it. Neither Mikey nor I like to cook... so we eat out a LOT. Or do frozen meals. We're trying to make healthier choices, but to be honest, we'll lose either way (at least until we get MUCH smaller). Having 1 frozen meal instead of 4 makes a difference!

Wow, that's awesome!! Congrats! Do a victory dance!!!

Hehe, the areola cutter! Bet it will sell like hotcakes! The thought of them getting cut... augh!! Better start working myself up for it now!

Oh my word, Paula!! I re-watched it. Kellie kept getting closer & closer & closer to Chris. He kept moving away... if you watch, his shoulders get closer & closer to Mandisa... but Kellie just kept stalking him!! By the end, you could have fit another one of her between her & Taylor! Chris even turned away from her & crossed his feet so he was towards Mandisa... and then Kellie leaned over, acting like she was leaning on her arm... but pretty much breathing down Chris's neck. Minx is right! When she reached over to congratulate Elliott she smushed her, um, attributes up against Chris. I'm impressed with Chris for all he's doing to move away. Hope it was just Kellie being nervous... maybe she does it to every guy she sits next to. I'll be watching! LOL, I've never spent so much time watching the people not in center frame.

Surgeons & surgical teams have seen it all, believe me. Just let them know... they'll either tell you to use a tampon, or give you "special" underwear, or put a big ol' heavy, thick pad between your legs. Not the optimal solution, but no reason to cancel a surgery! ((Hugs!!)) and good luck!

Im finally banded!!!!! :)
JanetC replied to shauntil6266's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats & welcome to the band! Post-op diets differ from surgeon to surgeon. Our was Clear Liquids for 3 days, all liquids for 3 days, then mushies for 2 weeks, then add tuna & chicken. By the end of 3 weeks, we could have everything except pork & beef. They asked us to wait 2 months for beef, heh. I see others on the site that had liquids for a month, mushies for a month, then light solids moving to solid (not sure of that time frame). Best wishes on your journey! -
Oh my word, Michelle!! That ROCKS!! Have a great day with all that positive energy!
-
LOL, I'm gonna have to rewind & watch again just to see!
-
Yeah, and not only the bottom 3, but the bottom TWO!! That'll shake ya up! Can't wait to see her perform next week!

I've done what I think is sliming once... but for me it was more like a PB. I ate too fast, felt a golf-ball behind my sternum (actually more like a volleyball!), quit eating & started moaning, lol. I "threw up" saliva for about 1.5 hours. Never anything solid... just tons & tons of saliva. Your experience sounds sorta like how I felt... I was able to swallow, but it just felt "wrong". Like the saliva was too thick or something. Very strange. Going VERY slowly, try taking little sips of Water. VERY small, with time in between. You don't want to PB! If something still feels stuck, I've heard folks recommend Diet Coke... set it out so it goes flat (or pour it from cup to cup to get it flat faster), then try a couple of sips (SLOWLY!). It supposedly will eat through what's stuck. (I don't know that this is true, but someone on here recommended it.) Keep us updated!! And remember that the first set of measurements will be depressing. In fact, for my first set, I don't pull the measuring tape really tight, lol. That way my next set has a guaranteed loss. Yeah, I'm weird, lol. But if I'm looking to measurements for my pat on the back, I want my pat on the back!! I used to keep my measurements in a notebook that was hidden in my sock drawer. Then I moved it to Excel... now it's in my lovely FitDay program. Mikey knows how much I weigh... I am embarrassed to tell anyone else, but I figure if they know I'm having WLS, they have to know I'm heavy, lol.

Not that I know of... and the surgeon didn't mention seeing one. I did have GERD pre-op. Have LOVED that it's gone so far. Hadn't considered that this pain could be a side effect of that. Thanks for all the options!
-
Wow Kathy! Thanks for the theory! I never would have thought of it! Too full could very well be it. I THINK I had the pain before the fill, but to be honest, I wasn't tracking it very well, so I'm not sure. It's only been post-fill that I've gotten so depressed over it. (Losing sleep, crying all the time, etc. And I'm in the middle of my cycle, so I don't think it's hormonal. Ya know, we have WAY too many variables in our human bodies!) I'm walking into my doctor with my diary & a list of possibilities, lol. He's so gonna love me!

((( HUGS!!!! ))) Oh my word K@t!! You poor thing! Now, pull yourself up, brush yourself off, throw your arms around yourself & know that all of us here at LBT are hugging you for all we're worth! Then go punch the director in the nose!! Seriously, remember that you're doing the surgery for YOU. And if he mentions it to anyone else... don't suppose there's HIPPA laws in Portugal? In the U.S., they're not ALLOWED to talk about it! And to put it mildly, it ain't none of his business! How insensitive can you get? He sounds like a real jerk! Hopefully you can chat with the other director & get a more sympathetic response! 3 days off is not much to ask for... push for it! And ask your husband for his support. Explain what the surgery means to you & how much you need to know that he's with you on it. I know he loves you & wants you to be happy. And know that surgery is just plain stressful. Thinking about it is stressful. Planning for it is stressful. Going through it is stressful. You're going to need tender loving care... find folks that are willing to give it and surround yourself with them!! (( Hugs!! )) Hope tomorrow's better for you!

Question for ya'll... especially those banded for 6+ weeks. Is anyone still feeling shoulder pain? I am... really badly. Sorta hoping someone out there is too, so I can quit worrying. Thing is, it went away during week 4 & part of week 5... and then came back with a vengeance. Weird. Happy Thursday!! We're almost there! Becky: Oh my word, you're doing great!! You can eat FOOD again! Congrats! And increasing your time AND staying on 1200? I think you're my hero!! Give your body time to adjust to the food again... it'll start losing again, I promise! Stacey: Woohooo for the feeling full!!! Nanster: OMG, you didn't eat the entire Snickers bar? I'm not sure I'm worthy to be writing to you! Congrats!!!! And grats on eating out successfully! And making great choices! Your scale is gonna be moving soon too! Keep working your plan... the body WILL catch up!

Hey Kim, have things slowed down? How's the fill treating you? Did you get some out?

DFW at Jack Astor's in April.
JanetC replied to JanetC's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey Kim, where've you been? How's the bubble machine? Hope you're doing better! (I'll go bump your thread in case you don't see this one, lol.) -
Wow!! And did they have to, um, cut the areolas down to size? I guess what I'm asking is did your areolas get smaller as you lost weight? Or did they have to MAKE them smaller? (A big concern for me.) That lollypop cut is fascinating! Cannot wait to see it at 1 month out! Thanks again, Kel, for sharing so much! (( Hugs!! )) Keep healing!
-
OMG thank you both!!! If it's been known to go away eventually, I'll just quit worrying about it & start dosing instead! Bring on the Tylenol! In fact, lol, we still have some hydrocodone! Yummy!! I've been afraid to dose, for fear that it would make it worse... or that I'd get trapped in a pain cycle or something. (Yeah, I worry too much, lol.) (( Hugs Anne & Straw )) Thanks for being there!!

The majority of people are rabbits. There are some that are turtles, but I'm guessing it's 25% or less. Unfortunately, you really can't tell which you are until you make the leap. It depends on age, metabolism, past dieting history, etc, etc, etc. There's no magic formula. Remember, the band doctors EXPECT 1-2 pounds a week. So if you're losing 1 pound a week, you're NOT a turtle... you're a rabbit. So don't expect 100 in the first year... sure, some make it that far, but a lot make more like 50. So set your expectations accordingly. For those that lose less then a pound a week, they have to look at what they're doing & see if they need to change their behavior. If they DON'T need to change their behavior, they have to look at other issues... like hypothyroidism or Cushings. It's a long & painful road... I wouldn't wish it on anyone! Go into it assuming you're a rabbit. Hope for rabbithood... plan on rabbithood... but remember that 1 pound a week IS a rabbit!! And if for some reason you should end up being a turtle, we've got a GREAT group of turtles that support each other fully & help each other find answers. We'll pray you don't end up in that group, but it's good to know they're there! Good luck Poodles! The best advice I can give you is to create a plan & then work it. Get your hubby on board with planning things out & creating a new lifestyle together.

That's AWESOME news, Stacey! Congrats!!!
