Weight loss? Slow? In a Stall?

How many calories or grams of protein are you getting? What are you eating? Are you weighing your food? What food stage is recommended by your doc or NUT for this week? More info please?

    Doubters

I think I would just thank them for their concern and that you will consider what she said but that the bariatric team has your back and you trust them. (And don't run to HR and whine, seriously)

PRE-OP AND MORE SCARED THAN EVER!

Now that they are aware of these issues, it would seem like an advantage and they can be proactive during surgeries going forward. And I agree losing some more pounds to help with the sleep apnea will move the wls forward. If you don't keep going forward where will you be next year? (A permanently ill person on a cpap machine).

    Anyone with Humana?

Well. I heard 15 days when I asked, but I am not close enough on the program to submit paperwork. Let us know how it goes. I have Illinois HMOx Humana

    Finding myself

But meds can get you over the hump, they don't have to be permanent. I took wellbutrin during a rough phase with the CEO from h €ll, and then didn't need them for a long time again until a house fire!!! When I retired I also didn't know who I was either for over a year and then I finally settled into not having a daily job, started some hobbies back and now it's fine. I have had a friend that did divorce after wls - she became an entirely different person. I don't know if she is happier though, her husband was very devastated - we see him more socially now. Both were nice people.

    Finding myself

Tell your pcp, maybe you need an antidepressant? Or some therapy. Hormones jump all over, and changes that come fast add to the mix. Go take a college class and learn something new, no one there will know the 'old you' or any of your past and you can be yourself or discover yourself. You can have these feelings even w/o surgery during life stages, it's good to recognize but take action of some sort. I find dwelling does nothing and changes even less.

You will be ok. Chin up! Good luck.
  11. Ulcers, or gall bladder because then you have a food/alcohol excuse for social gatherings 'oh no thanks since that gall bladder surgery I just can't tolerate xyz food' and 'lucky me it is helping me shed a few pounds'.
  12. Time release meds are iffy crushed because they dump into your system too fast. I can skip taking mine and be okay for a couple days, wellbutrin withdrawal is not that noticeable (as long as it is not dead dark winter time) but I hear ya on the eejits that don't understand psych meds....😠

First problem, required but not covered?

Is there an online portal you can log into? I find it helps to address some of this in writing through the insurance communication email tool. I don't have your insurance, but I do know medicaid in Illinous will not pay the NUT and you must pay the $385 up front for the 6 visits.

    Really Important QUESTION

Maybe it had to do with damage from the lapband? Just guessing here, ask to see the fluoroscopy before and after.

Blue Cross Federal Reasons to get Denied

Did you talk to customer service or a clinical intake specialist? Find out because sometimes all CS is allowed to do is read from the policy. Ask the intake specialist if there have been any exceptions. It would be best if you drop your calories to 1000, cut all carbs to just non-starchy vegetable ones plus lean meats to make sure you have a few pounds leeway. I don't have your insurance company but mine says NO gaining. I am currently on vacation but am trying to watch what I eat, I am on vacation for the fun and beauty of the area and not food, although since we are on the beach I am going to the fish market to get fish to cook, we are in a timeshare so have a full kitchen. Make a commitment.

    Dental Health after Sleeve Surgery

First of all what did you hear? I am preop, so no personal experience but logically the only issue I can surmise would be acid from gerd or vomitting from overfilling again causing acid to erode tooth enamel.
  18. Sarah, you are 26 and trust me there is time. I am 61 and happiness is possible even at a higher weight than your ideal goal weight. Try finding books by Geneen Roth, get them online or from a library. Give yourself permission to fail, it's okay to fail sometimes, breathe. You have to get out of your house, I insist. You must take a walk and not look down but smile. The people you pass probably don't even know the old Sarah so they aren't judging you. Other medication might work better. I take Wellbutrin, it actually helps with food cravings, as it is the same ingredient to help smokers stop and it lifts that brain fog you have. Ask to try it maybe, it takes about 3 weeks to work well. What was your dream job by the way. And skills don't disappear just because you are befuddled right now doesn't mean you can't get another job in a related field.
  19. You need to get a better therapist, between your physical state and mental state everything is fighting with each other. Your body wants to live, you can change your mind - when the mind is being a sneaky lying b!tch you have to tell it to shut up! It lies. You can do this, don't worry about what you weigh right now. Just follow the rules of eating at a table in full view, drinking 30 minutes after food, write down in a journal what you eat, and write down 1 funny thing that you saw or that happened, 1 thing you are grateful for, 1 thing you will do tomorrow - just a plain old notebook will do. Repeat and know that you can love yourself again. Get your mind going forward and then deal with your body. Post back here DAILY.
  20. I don't understand how you don't know if you are an emotional eater or not? You are definitely anxious sounding and overeating is usually a stress release response in me, dinner after working was the worst, I ate to get rid of the stress at a horrid workplace. But I discovered I used food to mask the feelings of general anxiety. It takes a lot of self examination but get therapy if you can't figure it out on your own. We are our worst enemies, we have a lot of negative 'head talk' and need to be more loving to ourselves instead of using food. It's tough but you can do it. Keep a little notebook with you and get i the habit of writi g what happened right before you eat, what are your feelings, what is chasing you to the food? Good luck.

    Getting sleeved with a baby

Sorry but my opinion would be to postpone the surgery, is there an insurance reason you can't postpone it? Or other reason, other than wanting it right this minute?? The baby is a baby once and that nursing bond would take priority over the surgery at this point. The people suggesting you quit - were you a breastfeeding mother?
  24. The preop and postop ARE medically physician mandated for surgery and recovery, so I am going to ask the doctor for that statement. I know my out of pocket will be between $4100 and $7100 of covered expenses because that is my policy
