No, I don't want no SCALE
Sosewsue61 replied to NightPilgrim's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a model similar to this scale, have owned it for over a decade, works great and sits in my front hallway by the closet. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00065EQJU/ref=pd_aw_sbs_121_of_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=8VS2M34ASFRV5EPVM7S0 -

My heart goes out to everyone grieving, we must all respect everyone for their struggles and be kinder in our words and deeds. Bless everyone going through this sadness. -

Did anyone here not need this (yet)?

DS is very very drastic, are you more worried the sleeve will not be 'strict' enough because you don't trust the process or trust yourself based on your mother's compliance/outcome? -

2 weeks post-op, not eating/drinking enough
Sosewsue61 replied to TheNewMe41817's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You won't lose when dehydrated - your body is trying to hold onto everything to survive and heal. You say broth is okay, then do broth all day and have you tried unflavored protein stirred into it? Or buy prepackaged protein broth. Popsicles. Jello. -
Serious diet coke addict here, I'm preop and gave it up a mo th ago. I drink ice tea w tiny amount of sweet n low and I am fine. I have given it up in the past because it hurts my joints, and then I would consume one, then a couple and then back up to six. Nope. Not doing it this time. I miss that first morning throat clearing slug but my body thanks me for not drinking it.

STALL! Am I done losing?
Sosewsue61 replied to KaiserKid's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Change up the type of protein and combination of vegetables, are you fixing the same things over and over. I am preop but when I was successful on Weight Watchers core program, I had to vary my food, one day eat more of different proteins - like fish for a few days, and then take my calories down for one day, then back up for a couple days, rebooted the weight loss. (I know how to lose just not how to keep it off) -

Hang in there, you have your mind set now. -
Their income level seemed good, but I don't think they realized how much carbs were contributing to the issue when Dr Phil listed off the foods. He tried to make it seem like a 'normal kid' w a 'normal' metabolism' would be able to handle all that just fine. Seriously.......

Feeling compelled to eat my favorite things (pre-surgery)
Sosewsue61 replied to Arthur Dent's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am pre-op as well, but struggling on vacation this very minute and hope I will know how to handle vacation post-op but not sure how that works. I have been trying to eliminate needless carbs, but not always sure what else to cook - especially for road trips and hiking and such. Obviously sandwiches are out and things like pasta salad! (I just had pasta salad, bbq beef brisket) I do grill year round and stir fry, but that doesn't work on the road. -
I have read that some people have strictures that need to be checked out w an endoscopy. Has the doc tested for those? How is your weight loss during this? What are you able to eat/drink?

Don't bring food into the house that she can't eat that are her trigger foods or favorites, offer to go for walks with her, or boat rides or fishing or activities she likes to do so her head isn't constantly thinking about this whole thing - any activity that doesn't revolve around food. You are a good man to want to be this supportive. And don't nag or become a 'food cop' or a jerk while she struggles with emotions as there will be hormone disruptions to her system that she has not had before and may wig her out.

help i need some questions about the tobacco test
Sosewsue61 replied to brandnewred's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From reading about it - at least 10 days, but don't even be around anyone else that smokes, ask for Chantix (wellbutrin) to help with cravings. Good luck. -

Sosewsue61 replied to Dknal2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Do not feel guilty for ending an abusive relationship dear, my kids struggled with the divorce but then as adults said they wished I had left sooner, so I would not have suffered so much. I have been married now for almost 20 years to the most wonderful man. Even if I had not met him, I would have been better off divorced and alone than to continue. I could breathe, I could get up in the morning and know exactly how the adult in the house was going to act because it was ME! I didn't have to go around and make everything so he wouldn't react. I just got to be me and breathe. -
There are clear protein drinks like Isopure - are you allowed those?

Popcorn.. when did you start eating it
Sosewsue61 replied to princessK23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get that. I don't think anyone suggests a free for all on the carbs, but you certainly could plan for it, if you wanted the food item and you can tolerate it, after you get closer to goal. It's a better choice than cake or chips. Heck potato chips aren't allowed in my house now, and I am pre-op I would eat the whole bag or at least until my tongue is pickled. -
Wow! Rock thosee horizontal stripes girl!

Sosewsue61 replied to princessK23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So killjoys it is. I have seen others say it is a trigger food, and then others saying it is fine for them. I think you will have to see for yourself. Nutritional content 3 cups 93 cal, 15gr net carbs (18gr - 3gr fiber) and 3gr protein So it's not exactly a killer, and neither is the butter. I have seen most successful people on here consume fat without guilt once they get farther along in there weight loss. -
What is that one thing you look forward to so much, post op?
Sosewsue61 replied to Kris_Aloha's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I want to hike in the mountains easier than it was today. I spent an hour hiking and wanted to go to the top of the trail, but it was too far. I am pre-op but trying hard to get more involved during this program process now. -
BCBS 6 mos diet requirement & comorbidity questions
Sosewsue61 replied to SummerShadow's topic in Insurance & Financing
Did GP refer you to Endocrinologist? Because if he did then that should be in the record, an Endo is a physician for crying out loud, and should suffice for your 6 months. I would ask for an appeal of that decision. Have the Endo and NUT write it up and submit it, worth a shot anyway.
