Has anyone had isopure protein juice??
Sosewsue61 replied to soon2bvsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Vitamin World has them too. I bought two but have not tried them yet. I bought blue raspberry and punch. Someone said dilute them with some ice/water as they are tart. They are a little pricey. -
I hope you find out and I hope it is nothing serious....

Is it just me or does anyone else have "hollow" days?
Sosewsue61 replied to AGreenEyedWolf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am pre-op, so I have no actual experience to contribute. But a couple questions - are you consuming liquid with food? And are you getting all your liquids in between? When I was on weight watchers and they changed fruit to being a free for all, I could not lose weight if I ate fruit daily. I could have maybe 3 servings a week at most. Non starchy vegetables were still okay. Maybe try upping the amount of protein, and adding a little hard cheese in between meals. Cheese takes the edge off cravings for sugar for me anyway. A nice piece of 8yr old cheddar. It adds some fat. -
You have good insight toward yourself, but it sounds like your job takes a huge toll on you emotionally, mentally and thus physically. Ask yourself where you will be in 5-10 years if you don't have the surgery? Can you sustain the job stress along with regular life and deteriorating health? Don't tell anyone you don't want to tell, that may sound harsh but self preservation takes precedence over being judged for a decision you really need to make without feeling as if it would hurt them more, but it actually hurts you more. Good luck in your decisions. Let us know.

Did you "force" yourself to eat things post op that you never liked before?

@OutsideMatchInside Not in Illinois - I wish - I was in SC on vacation. It was the first time I tried it, was sooo good. Then we drove to Smokies, I bought grouper in SC and shrimp too, froze it and took it to the condo there. (SC was a timeshare ' look see' for 3 days for Hilton Honors members and Smokies was a reg week vacation for us. Did a lot of hiking in the mtns, wish I was in shape enough to do long difficult ones, maybe next time) -
How do I start the process?
Sosewsue61 replied to Jencol's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is that the only bariatric game in town or in your insurance network? Most insurance requires your pcp to do a referral anyway. Check with insurance by logging into their web portal and ask specific questions via email, such as what type of record is required for supervised weight loss, how long and how many visits, do you follow a form or is it directed by the physician's program? Do you require an exercise log, psych eval, sleep study, group sessions, etc. Also the surgeon can get updates from the pcp, coordinate with his office for that. Go ahead and signup w the surgeon, keep checking for cancellations on attending - you might tell them you can fill a cancellation. Are there other seminars/groups in the area? My actual insurance has no qualified bariatric surgeons within 60 miles and I can go out of network. Theirs is over 2.5 hours away and they were rude on the phone, laughed at my questions, and said it would take a year....pffft I went with the local surgeon's 6 month program after I got insurance approval for out of network. -

I wish I lived closer to the gulf sometimes, when we rent a condo for vacation we always scout a fish market - I love grouper, trigger fish, pompano <sigh> I have to be content to get what I can in the freezer case. Pic of trigger fish, has a sweet taste -
Dr. Nowzaradan guidelines-very confused!!!

Could have a lot to with the sponsors of the reality show and/or hospital affiliation. I am sure many of us have been up against the ADA guidelines from physicians forever and it has been changed and wrong for years. If following low fat, carb laden processed food diets worked we would not be on this forum or needing surgery to correct metabolism. Remember all those nifty 100 calorie packs with low fat treats in the stores? Yeah that worked like a charm!!! I watched my HR Director go on the grain protein diet get a huge gut, it was supposed to prevent another heart attack.....he was a normal sized person when he had his first heart attack. -

Just my personal opinion here, I stay away from fish from countries that I don't trust for food production, and tilapia is from China and they feed them filth in polluted water. I also only buy gulf shrimp. For mild fish I like flounder, cod, perch. Baked or pan seared, there are many good recipes out there to try - asian spices w soy sauce, blackened, lemon pepper, etc. And try a little hot sauce too. -
Regarding Chantix - those lucid dreams go away....it takes about 3 weeks, a lil crazy until then but hey it does help.

Healthy Eating on a budget
Sosewsue61 replied to Krisbell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@OutsideMatchInside Yeah. I can shop cheap if you check the meat on sale in the flyers, and get fresh or frozen vegetables or farmer's market in the summer if you can't garden. I garden and freeze the excess and can the tomatoes - so good in soup and chili. (BTW - I am a spice wh0re as well) -

Keto is like Atkins, which is low carb. And most successful wls patients eat fairly low carb to stay away from trigger foods that make you crave starch and sugar, useless carbs. -

Odd - I put in the veggie plan for two and total is $59. And that is veg protein and vegetables. I don't see how that is economical at all. Classic is $109. And they pick the recipes for you. So what is the protein grams in a meal? I am not logging into them to find out. -

So what triggered this all day food fest? How was the day before - did any life stress happen, or doubt, not enough sleep, worry, an event, what? -
And why is it you refuse to tell anyone what you are eating daily? you repeat the same thing and give no information back when people are trying to help.

They don't need to know.

You look great. I think there are people out there that should just learn to be quiet. There is always some snot that just can't resist. Just say to yourself 'wow that statement says more about you than it does about me'. -
I tuned into Dr Phil (disclaimer: I am in a hotel and never watch daytime tv at home) and caught the last 15 of a show about the three ways parents make their children obese. And then the commercials were Werther caramel candy and pizza. It would be funny if it weren't tragic. And the parents were very overweight as well and from what I saw they danced around the issue of ' stop feeding them processed food' IMO. Granted I only saw a brief segment. But for a 5 yr old to be 90 pounds there are some issues with what the parents are buying and feeding each other. And the solution was to have was to have a company provide all their meals and for a trainer to comeme to the house to educate them on nutrition and exercise. I am obviously choosing my own poison to eat right now, but when I raised my kids they were not fat because I controlled what was purchased and consumed. For one reason - my 2 middle children were type 1 diabetics at age 9 and 11, and their life depended on correct blood sugar levels. (Do not confuse the types of diabetes here as they are completely different mechanisms). I had good nutrition in the house from the first child 13 years prior, so suddenly having 2 children within 6 months be type 1 was mindblowing but type 1 is an immune system issue and not a metabolic issue. I guess my point is - how can having premade food make a permanent change for them if they keep saying - you did nothing wrong here.

What the heck is wrong with me???
Sosewsue61 replied to Mandybb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you just took a day off from planning food and just said screw it. You didn't want to think about 'the sleeve'. But you kow what you did, and now it's back to control. Lesson learned and plan next time to maybe have one treat. -
Whew....how long?
