Disclaimer, I love the hubs and need his support but

Obviously you can't read the lines or between the lines.......nor recognize some sarcasm either. Let me ask this......how many times have you gotten that shame based look when you take seconds, or people snickering when you are in a buffet line, or your mother, father, teacher, snotty cousin, says something to you that brings those feelings out - you know the ones - where you want to crawl into a hole and cry/hide, or punch a wall out? Well I don't need it from the person that is supposed to love me the most. I will take every hug, every cup of tea he brings, every kiss, or errand to the store for more sf popsicles. But I don't need instructions or managing. This no deal breaker, hence the joke about duct tape n rope - I just needed to vent. I assure you my husband is indeed a great man and husband, he just needs some schooling. I think the bariatric group should have a spouse/SO class halfway through the process pre-op with the shrink and the surgeon on what to expect and what actually helps.
  4. Best to you, rest and let people help you
  5. And then add in compliance of the respondants to accurately report the data....put that % error reporting in there and it's prolly turned to poop.

    obsession getting out of hand

For me, it's a personality trait - I research nearly everything to that degree: sewing techniques, gardening with native woodlands, the Irish famine, vintage 1940's fashion, hatmaking, semi-precious gems for beading, french hand sewing, french cooking, Julia Child, kitchen remodeling....and once upon a time my work - HP servers, VOIP systems, Cisco routers/switches, backup systems, security camera systems, you get the idea. The issue isn't so much as jumping in all wired up and rearing to go but burning out and getting bored, or expectations that are unsustainable. (You don't want the operating system you just installed to be at it's EOL with any security updates) This isn't a sprint more like a long distance race. So take a break and go live life, make some small changes that you think about keeping, like chewing slowly, no TV or texting while eating, break away from take out food so often. And learn - like screwing up at a wedding - how can you change that to make it livable next time? If you 'shame and blame' and hate on yourself it won't help the way you feel about yourself.
  7. I am not on it yet. Mine lists aim for around 800-900 cals/day 5 meals of protein shakes plus broth, crystal light, decaf tea/coffee, SF jello/popsicles
  8. Maybe post a whole week of your food journal with protein grams, etc, calories....

    Where is everyone from???

Pecatonica, IL (90 mi west of Chicago) (born in Illinois) But have lived in Clarksville,TN; Copperas Cove, TX; Oahu, HI; FT Eustis, VA; Hanau W Germany (previous military wife, 1st marriage)
  10. I am presurgery and anytime I try to put in starting weight, or current weight it asks for surgery weight. It will not save any entries unless that is filled in with an actual wt above 90. Is this a known bug?
  11. It's a dumb idea, like someone said the food on a kid's menu is not downsized adult food it is garbage food.
  12. You got this Diana! You will still be hurt and be angry for awhile but you will also have peace. You will be able to breathe soon. Go get a massage, girl and some pampering. You look darn good!
  13. I am pre-op, so I can't comment on the emotions from this surgery. But - I had a total knee replacement 7 years ago and struggled sooooo hard with cutting my bones off and getting fake parts - that I waited until I was falling going up and down steps when the knee buckled to have the surgery. I still hated having it. After surgery I had crying-in-my-sleep bone healing pain for 6 months. And painful physical therapy. But I can square dance and hike and it's all good now, yes kneeling is still a ****** but that is why they invented knee pads and foam!!! I imagine I will have high emotions during this process and hormone disruption (hopefully not worse than menopause), and battles with food desire but I will persevere.

    Feeling uglier

And if money is too tight for joining those things, volunteer - habitat for humanity, neighborhood cleanup, a senior center - those ladies have granddaughters. Go to a new church of your denomination but in the next town over, join the choir.

    Feeling uglier

Take up an activity. Take some dance lessons, buy a mountain bike, join a book club, join a hiking club, take a community college class, join a travel group, coach a kids team for the park district. The more you get involved the more women you will meet and you might really enjoy one of those hobbies a lot. You might find some new talents and that makes for an interesting conversation. BTW - you are not ugly.

    Nervous!!

Good luck. I will say some prayers for you and the surgical team. Smooth surgery and steady recovery.
  21. Birthday tomorrow - 62 - yikes!! Will be sleeved in October, no def date set. Clear protein - Isopure, but it's pricey and tart, someone said unjury unflavored added to broth (?). Someone also mentioned a clear one at Walgreen's that is supposed to taste better than Isopure. https://www.walgreens.com/store/c/trusource-protein-water-ready-to-drink-fruit-passion/ID=prod6340336-product?skuId=sku6282078

    High cholesterol post 4 months

Just make sure you take CoQ10 with the statin, go read up about it. My sisters can't tolerate it, they get leg cramps and I already have leg cramps that make you want to chop your legs off. I take magnesium for that. I will take my chances.
  23. Oh hellno, don't apologize!! Everyone wants to look good, be attractive and that is one motivational part of the whole process. I fully intend to preen like a peacock (peahen) when it happens to me......preen and posture and prance away...
