What was your breaking point?
Sosewsue61 replied to jiminy_cricket's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It wasn't any single moment, but I did have 'break through' of sorts in February where I realized I am worth more than these layers of fat and deserve to get rid of them. I am tired of waiting to be better and I have limited years left, as I am 62. -
Well, keep us posted.

I intend to make and freeze my own bone broth that way I control what is in it. I bought several kinds of liquid protein and shakes to try, as I am preop and didn't want to buy a big container and not like it. I bought Jay Robb, Premier protein, Isopure and a couple others, I already have lots of jello stocked up. I will buy sf popsicles closer to actual preop diet (10 days with last 2 of no calorie clear liquid). And I intend to stay busy with hobbies and fix meals for the family that I don't care about missing and it isn't forever.

New BariatricPal Tracking App! What Features Do You Want?
Sosewsue61 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't need to connect to others. It needs to be able to produce reports or be exported in a spreadsheet type format for keeping. Need to be able to see all history or archived history for trends. Need to be somewhat customizable to add our own menu and save that, so we would not have to retype an entire recipe/meal each time it repeats - like 'Sue's chili, or 'Sue's breakfast #2' - which might be 2 eggs over easy, 2 bacon, 1 tsp oil. Etc. (Exercise is okay okay to add but I own a fitbit already, and yes it has a food function but I is not as user friendly as I would like). -

So sorry for all your pain and complications. And so glad you woke up in time and they found the problem. Say prayers for a good recovery now. -

Complication? It's not working, there's a complication
Sosewsue61 replied to TheBearguy8's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It seems like you are daring yourself to screw up. The reasons for liquids and soft foods is for healing, your stomach is stapled and not healed - you don't want to mess it up and create a medical issue. Concentrate on the required grams of protein and wrapping your head around sound nutrition. But you are correct about most protein bars. -
Congratulations!!!!! 😍 What a happy good looking couple!

Slippage of sleeve
Sosewsue61 replied to glitter eyes's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@MarinaGirl VSG lowers LES pressure and shortens abdominal length of esophagus. - where did you read this? Because the surgery in itself does not cause this but anyone with severe GERD can have that happen without having wls. -
sleeved 5/16 in Mexico

Woohoo! Keep hanging in there. Good luck. -

A record of my experience... from start to finish... rants and all!
Sosewsue61 replied to njgal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Great post. I will likely be sleeved in October. BTW - most soccer moms are as insecure as you are, just try talking more, offer more than 'how are you doing?' I was/am shy in person the first few times I meet anyone for the same fears insecurity brings. But the more often you keep making conversation each time you might be surprised at what transpires. Offer the coach to volunteer in some way. -
Anyone heard of Thrive or take Thrive by Le-Vel?
Sosewsue61 replied to Amethyst Acinom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are no clinical studies on efficacy of the claims this product makes, and there are side effects with some of it, not just vitamins as ingredients, makes claims to block carbs, etc etc.... -

So many questions no answers :( please help!
Sosewsue61 replied to JessgettingSleeved's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The real truth is probably the insurance company does NOT want to pay for this surgery and sets this up to lessen the number of people that they have to cover when they jump through these hoops. The bariatric team wants the supervised NUT visits to get you to be successful for their program's statistics/reputation/profit. Still money motivated anyway you slice it. Ins might be hoping you lose weight and prove you don't need surgery. Go on ins website and create your login, there is usually an email portal on there - ask all your VERY direct questions there. They are required to answer and not just send the policy pages back to you, if they do that ask for an intake specialist to answer the emails. Ask what the purpose of the WW program is - ask is it to teach you how to diet/lose weight, does it qualify as supervised weight loss or if after the 6 mos will you be required to then do a dr supervised program also, if that is the case then partner with your pcp at the same time you do WW, to record dr supervision. Ask if they require an exercise log, ask if they require psych eval, ask if you lose below qualifying bmi while on WW if this disqualifies you for surgery? What bariatric surgeons are in your provider list? Call them directly and ask if they have dealt with this aspect of your ins and what the outcomes have been - they will know? Ask them how WW compares to their requirements - a lot of surgeons require you to use their program and might make you do an additional 6 months with them. If they require their NUT appts to qualify - then it might be a good idea to pay for them out of pocket while doing WW simultaneously, keep records for your out of pocket amount and taxes. Good luck. -

All I can offer is some sympathy.. sorry you feel so bummed. I did read that hair grows back in, but it still sucks. I am preop so I can't give much advice and I know when it happens to me I will cry a river - I have thin fine hair already. Can you post what a typical days intake looks like (protein grams, carbs, eating schedule, etc)? -
Rest and let us know. I wish you the best recovery.

Where did you change the settings - on this forum or on the phone? If you did it on your forum account, it may take some time before their data server gets the message to not send notification. -

He needs to stop......I need to do this w/o all the 'I'm on board with this eating plan', blah blah blah. I appreciate your enthusiasm, really really I do but I need to master this my way, and you really can't do this for me, and you also can't be a food cop. Please don't say - uh you could save that piece of chicken for lunch tomorrow instead of picking at it. #1 I am in the 6 month thing and not really 'dieting' per se, making changes - yes, dieting - no. #2 I know dang well what I am eating cuz I write it down. #3 It isn't your business, it is mine I want/need to own it. So curb it or I'm going to need duct tape and rope, and it isn't 50 shades of grey.......
