    hair loss after surgery

://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4289931/ Add it to a carrier oil - jojoba, coconut, etc and massage into scalp - leave on at least 30 minutes. Full strength is too irritating.

    hair loss after surgery

Lord, I look like dog poo with short hair!!!! I pray it doesn't come to a pixie cut and I have dark hair and my scalp shows through some now (pre-op). Peppermint oil is supposed to stimulate the hair follicles to cycle through the active and dormant phases faster - some study I can't remember where I read it - said it works as well as rogaine.

    Anyone?

What exactly does your ins policy say are the qualifying conditions? Some allow lower bmi if you have comorbidities - like sleep apnea, high blood pressure, etc.

    Alcohol, addiction and weight regain

I wish all of you the best in seeking help. Go to AA. The addictive gene that is in our family skipped me, but not my brother and it led to an early death. I was also married to an alcoholic for 18 years and could not take it and divorced him 23 yrs ago - he and his wife are now vicodin addicts and look like walking death. Please get help, don't wait.

    Post op hip pain

The only way to know is to go get a blood panel and an exam. You are not even 6 months out and should just make an appointment. Do you really want to risk your health because of embarrassment over not taking vitamins? Get some soft chews of calcium and follow the plan. This doesn't sound typical as far as complications are concerned but deficiencies can happen and a full blood panel is the only way to know.

    Low carb wraps

But just saying you counted net carbs doesn't say how many you actually consumed for your daily carb count, and maybe for you your CCL fit in that amount. My NUT says don't use net carbs.

    GAINED 4LBs....8 weeks post.

Whew!! I need a nap just reading all this! I can only imagine how tired you are @dreamingsmall from being so stressed. Have you thought of taking a meditation class, or yoga? I don't have OCD, but I have ADD and my anxiety can definitely get the best of me some days and yoga helps. Thanks @Berry78 for great support on the forum.

    So excited

    You look great!!!
  11. You are brave and keep going strong.
  12. I am so confused about how much of each nutrient is necessary. My NUT wants 2 Celebrate multi a day plus 3 Celebrate calcium. Or Centrum chewable +B12 +Vit D+Celebrate Calcium - 10 pills It amounts to $40/month If these are physician required, then can we take this expense off our taxes?

    New to wls

Hello and welcome. So tell us more about yourself, fill out your profile, etc. I am halfway through month 6 of the 6 month required pre-op for insurance approval, so it will get scheduled after that last NUT appt. Then bloodwork, EDG, meet with surgeon, etc. SewSoSue

Cereal and the soft foods diet

So.... @proudgrammy ...about the liquid cereal thing ....then where does homemade beef vegetable soup fit in here? Yes it has liquid, but it is very nutritious -mine has lots of meat, dried beans, lots of vegetables, etc.

    Hair loss

I always take a separate folic acid vitamin along with my multi, I am preop -so who knows if this surgery will cause hair loss for me - I didn't lose any with knee replacement surgery 7 years ago??? But I am old...lol 62 and my hair, although fine and thin, grows in length fast if I take that extra folic (like prenatal vitamins has extra folic). But genetics are probably a factor, too - as I only have about a dozen grey hairs as well. Anyone's guess for each of us. Hoping like heck it doesn't happen.
  17. If I were a professor I would wait until the semester break as well, and if I were still working I would not divulge that I was having wls, I would use the hernia story if pressed. I have only told a select few people - husband of course, daughters, a niece and a couple friends out of town. I am not telling my quilt group, my square dance friends, or other relatives. Many of my relatives are gossips, I doubt my square dance friends would be negative but they don't really 'need to know'.

Two days of clears is AWFUL

Go Walter!!! I wish you all the best! And @BunneyGirl that story was a riot, ugh I talk during anesthesia -so glad a tube will be down my throat so I can't embarrass myself.
  19. Sosewsue61

    Judge me, seriously.

Not enough info....how far out are you after surgery? Exactly how many calories and grams of protein? ETC?

    Nervous

    Good luck and stay strong!

    Pre-Op diet

Work is always going to suck and be stressful no matter what you are eating = no change. You are luckier than most - I will get 800 cal of 5 protein shakes for 10 days, 2 days of no-cal clear liquids......so count your blessings you don't have my pre-op plan!!!
  22. I would agree to have the cardiologist review with the anesthesiologist due to that part of it, and then make sure the bariatric surgeon confers with the cardiologist and he or another is on standby during your surgery. Bless you and all of your team with whatever decision you make.

    Surgery is tomorrow

Praying for you and your surgical team. Good luck!!!! Fast recovery. Sip and walk, repeat....

    Curious

I am choosing the sleeve because I wanted restriction without malabsorbtion. The sleeve cannot be 'stretched' because that part of the stomach that expands is removed. It can relax after healing but not stretch.
