    General advice?

Do these things over a few weeks. I quit soda the day after my seminar. So wean yourself from soda and fast food now. Learn to cook protein and vegetable dishes. Get a free app like Baritastic to log your food and water and start using it now. If you can - WALK. Park the farthest out from the shopping center and walk. Get books on Audible, put on earbuds and walk. Examine your relationship with food. Eat at a table without the tv, phone, or computer. Food is necessary and tastes good, so pay attention to it. Eat slower. Acknowledge how you feel before and after you eat. Good luck. I found the waiting time between the seminar and my upcoming surgery an invaluable education on how I treated food (and the result of that!).

    Hit a milestone today!

What an accomplishment! Living a full life is an amazing thing and you ARE doing it right now!!!!
  4. You are hating on yourself too much. Right before you headed for that drive thru - what was going on? - what was the anxiety about? Did eating it fix the problem, fix the anxiety? Do you fear success or failure more? Go home and look in a full length mirror and thank yourself, thank your body for everything it has done for you. Say things like - thanks for getting me to work today legs, thanks arms for comforting a loved one, etc. You need to love yourself right now, not later.... You are NOT the food you ate.

    Today is the day

God bless you and your surgical team.
  6. @Alex Brecher look at the comment by @teedsg - that type of thing needs to be banned
  7. You would have to ask the ins coordinator, each ins is different.

    Judgemental comments

@Tinabinab Try as best you can - make sure you bring it up at the psych eval (if you have one). He/she can give you guidance on dealing with this type thing. I would caution you - some may 'up the ante' as you lose weight and gain confidence to speak up for yourself by sabotaging your success - it will come with fake concern - ' you are thin enough, stop losing weight' or 'since you lost weight, we never go to lunch anymore' or any number of barbed wire insults. You need statements practiced so you won't get hurt or let it lead to emotional eating.
  9. Yeah I'm going to be like plucked chicken skin.... (no offense to @FluffyChix I like chickens. Lol) Will be standing in the lbl line myself.

    Relationships

I think it has too many factors to predict reactions. If you have a really good marriage already, it likely won't have a negative impact (unless the wls person starts being a jerk). But if there are already issues and the wls person rocks the boat by becoming a more confident outspoken person it could turn into bigger problems. I think friends are a totally unpredictable variable.....there will be surprises in this group. You may see anything from jealousy to downright nastiness to genuine joy. It does change the dynamics, I have seen the surprise divorce and the 'best friend' turn into a shrewish snipe. Good luck to us all.
  11. Wow! You don't look like you need a LBL at all!!! Seriously amazing. What kind of workouts have you been doing?

    Hello Everyone

@thiklips assuming much? The OP has had considerable complications and didn't post a typical day of eating. Plus we don't know of any other conditions involved. Perhaps it's true and perhaps not, but you were not any help at all. OP - post an average day of eating and fluid intake please. Do you have a support team you can contact - nutritionist, etc?

    1 year anniversary

    Crazy good change!! Bravo.
  15. Oh my that's awful. Where are you?
  16. Sosewsue61

    3 years post op

Couple of questions: How old are you? Did you have hair loss? How soon and what type of exercise dod you do (other than walking?)? Thanks.

    Carbs

Not all carbs are created equal - most vegetable carbs do not affect me, but don't throw grain carbs in the mix very often....... Question: Did most of your plans follow very low fat? And did those veterans that have been successful follow that during the early weight loss phase (or not) and did you change that gradually, later on or not at all?

    Crazy question

The preop diet is from the surgeon, if he has one. When you have met the insurance requirements (supervised diet, tests, psych eval etc) then the surgeon's office submits to your insurance for approval. After ins approval then the surgeon's office makes the final appointments before surgery and schedules surgery date. My surgeon has a 10 day liquid diet, a consult 1 week before w him, 3 weeks before upper endoscopy test, and bloodwork just before surgery. My surgeon also gives a 3-ring binder with all this info and more at the first appointment - info on types of wls, what appts are needed vitamins, diet phases after surgery, etc, etc plus consent forms.

    Surgery Date?

Six months of NUT appts + qualifying medical tests. Submit to insurance on the day of 6th appt - insurance approved in ONE DAY.
  20. You look really good, stay the course.
  21. I picked 140. If I get there great, if I don't - well being pre-op it's hard to tell what my metabolism will do. I made it to around 170 seven years ago on WW and then went back up to 232, so anything's possible.

    100 lbs down!!!

Keep going! You look so good and I bet you feel even better. Keep a little list for all the NSVs and reread it when you get frustrated.

    Is Global Warning A Hoax!

There is no proof that hurricanes are more intense or more frequent due to possible 'climate change'.
