    Vitamin and B12 patches

Some surgeries other than sleeve have trouble w absorption and liquid or patches mightwork better than pills. I think they should all be subscription so you can use insurance and take it off yo your taxes too because it's required.

    Pre-surgery psych clearance

Psych just asks about your home situation as it relates to accomplishing the sleeve objectives, your childhood, your work, relationship with food, alcohol, etc as it relates to the sleeve. As long as you answer that you are on medication and go to counseling and are not suicidal, not being abused, not an active alcoholic, do not have eating disorders it should be fine.... If you do have issues that need addressing - they will schedule sessions to work through them.

    Does anyone eat corn tortillas?

I would think eat the meat filling and chase it with a lightly cooked soft corn tortilla - just to have the taste. The tortilla might fill you up otherwise.
  4. Crystal light - is aspartame.

    What If They Ask?

If you know the person that works there I would anonymously send the HIPPA act to her desk and type a note saying don't tell anyone...It will def scare them enough to make them think hard about it. Don't cave into feeling guilty, you will regret telling them if you do.... I regret telling my niece, I know she has blabbed it to the very person (s) I don't wish to know even though I swore her not to talk about it.

    Might need another surgery.

@dreamingsmall praying for good test results and please let 'us' know. Your sleeve family cares about you.
  7. @MissT_SR mash avocado, add a little squeezed lemon, add tuna - yum. Even the grandkids love this on triscuit crackers.

5 1/2 months 86 pounds down with pictures

Great job..... Are you mainly following a ketogenic diet model? What are your macros?
  9. I personally have had 'blinders' on about my body, I underestimated my large size, and never recognized it when I had lost weight as well. This time I will be more cognizant of what is happening. I never felt worthiness (complicated reasons) and have been working on that. Good luck to you.

    25 pounds down

I see a significant difference, keep the faith. The body has to rest and heal, it was major surgery.....you will get there.

    Working with a TPN

Well I was uneducated about short term disability, apparently ONLY five states require employers cover STD. When I worked my company did have the STD insurance available and our state does not require it.... So awful that only 5 states require it.

    Working with a TPN

@smariev so sorry for your complications. Where are you located and what line of work are you in?
  14. WOW! I love your thoughts on your life experiences - wonderfully expressed. I hope it happens to us all!
  15. My NUT is big on the no-fat/lo-fat thing, but I am not going to abide by that mantra. I do sub avocado for mayo sometimes - great in tuna salad. I have read a study that seemed to see a correlation between no-fat/lo-fat and gallstones - I know that probably the opposite was concluded as well....but I do know some fat helps w constipation issues.....I intend to put a teaspoon of oil/fat in my shakes post-op.

Hit a bump in the road...

Good luck and stick with the counseling too. This battle has many complicated facets - emotional eating, genetics, etc. Maybe look up books by Geneen Roth - she writes about intuitive eating and battling binge eating etc. Those of us that choose the surgery do so because we have lost weight but need this tool to keep it off. It resets our metabolism and offers the needed restriction to maintain the loss. Keep us posted.
  17. Stick your physician's advice. You may want to ask about full spectrum lighting/light therapy in the meantime. I am on wellbutrin and don't know what it will be like after surgery, I don't intend to go off of it, you can get IR in 100 dose and take it throughout the day. I have been on another sleeve forum and veterans are managing to take their SR dose after they can eat more solid food and are doing well. I guess my question would be 'why go off if it is working?' There is nothing wrong with using medication if it works and you need it. I would not use one emotional incident to establish that you don't need it. Wellbutrin is relatively easier to wean off of than many other antidepressants.

    Post Op Frustration

My NUT said shakes do not count as water, she said shakes plus 64oz of water.....just sayin' I am sure it's going to be rough. I have stocked up on sf popsicles, but need to look for Atkins water.

    Popcorn

Well it looks liike a 'mixed bag' pun intended.....lol. I won't know until I'm on the other side, it is one of my favorite foods - so we will see how it goes, but I will likely not entertain eating it until I am many many months out from surgery. I intend to go the old '72 Atkins route of adding 5 carbs a week until I find what my limit is for carb intake - this is after I heal and follow all the prescribed food stages and protein goals....etc. At least that is my plan.

    Any More Sixties?

I think that headache thing is pretty common when doing the shakes. I am right behind you in 2 weeks..... Hang in there. Try some broth in between....

    Woohoo!! Go Geraldine!

Starting New Life 3 Months after Surgery

I think therapy would be a good option right now. Maybe explore the why behind the social anxiety, some of our long held beliefs can get in the way of what is really true about ourselves and about how others perceive us. I have had completely wrong reactions based on what I assumed people thought about me and often ignored when people really were treating me terrible or actually liked me but had their own issues. Body image colors our interactions and how we project ourselves and this changed body needs time to become the new normal - our heads take longer to catch up. It's even unfair to bring a new relationship into that hot mess until you have it figured out.

    300 pounds lost

    Holy cow! Crazy good!!!
  24. Hang in there. It is not hopeless, did they give you a program to follow (liquid diet, etc)? Is there a support group at the university? Can they admit you as an in-patient to get it started? Can you ask for that type of help or a mentor? Don't give up because it won't get better if you do. You can do this if you really want the surgery.

Am I the only one who gets annoyed by the question Why?

@StephersSweet you might want to remind those supervisors they are violating HIPPA laws by revealing your medical info...I would be pizzed off about that. I don't know why I am always surprised to hear about these things, seems like it happens more frequently since having privacy laws. Maybe post a glitter copy of the legal notice in your cubicle......lol
